This could be me reading wayyyy too much into things but here goes: I think the eyes on the screens in the cityscape at the start and end of the video could be representative of the modern surveillance state, eyes on everybody at all times, everything you do, especially online being watched and recorded. You can run off into the realm of fantasy, dreaming of knights or aliens or whatever, trying to escape if only for a little while, but eventually you look back up (just as Declan does at the end of the video) and you're still living this in this ever-deteriorating reality. Maybe you want to change things, but as is the age-old cry of the older generations to the young, you just get told: "[insert your name here] , you're still a child"
That statement is not only reflective of what you're bound to be told but of your own thinking as a young person who wants to see a better world come about, you think, what the fuck can I do? I'm just one guy. I'm still just a kid...
...Anyway, not to leave this on too depressing a note, this album is fantastic and this is one of my favorite tracks from it, just absolutely perfect pop/indie-rock or whatever genre label you wanna put on it. Just stellar. Declan has really come far from his first album and I can't wait to see what he does next!
