In the beginning of the podcast, Susan commented on giving our dog what it needs regardless of our personality. I had to learn to be soft and encouraging for my insecure bc. It was a rough road until I learned to be what she needed. Oh the life lessons my dog teaches me. Thank you Susan and Team.
I saw your dog backing up and picked that as the next game to play/teach my dog. It was difficult in the start as he kept wanting to turn around instead of backing up. I cut the distance down and then once he got it, I increased the distance. He is awesome now! I love watching him do this as he is so awkward. My dog loves playing the games that I have learned from you. Because of you, my relationship with my dog is better than ever. Thank you!
Thank you for another awesome video susan. I'm a naturally reserved individual but recallers has me dancing in public to keep my puppy energised and confident through outdoor training sessions🤣I worry less and we have more fun.
Would definitely love that info on separation anxiety. Luckily, my current dog doesn't have it, but I am always trying to make sure I am doing things that will not enable that behavior.
Unfortunately I missed the ask-questions part on insta / facebook as I am not active there! I would however like to learn more about training a dog (especially those that grow up to be big and powerful) how to be more conscious about their size and movements as to avoid other dogs/people/things being hurt - if not themselves as well. Kind regards and thank you for all fantastic information!
The part about dog people love to let people know how much they know is pretty true 😂 in a good way though! I think they just love talking about dogs in general haha. I'm new to dog sports, too. and everyone I ran into, conformation, agility, scent work people are all very helpful and offered me lots of good tips and tricks. Would love to see a podcast on how you shift your personality (introvert vs extrovert) to better work with your dog :)
Love your wise guidance. Working with a different species (dogs) every day is exciting, shocking, and inspiring. Thanks for sharing what you've learned so we can both learn & be reinforced!
Oh! I'm just gonna go fetch you on facebook now too! I started teaching my dog to chill. Realized Gunner won't work at a distance. Oops... Even six ft away is too far to sit. He has to run over to me and sit. Oops... All that on leash training I did I guess... That's ok! More things to work on, more stimulation! He has calmed down so much after neutering. I brought him for a good run and he actually tired. He stayed with me as I ate a meal(normally paces, is vocal, eats every bit of everything on the floor) and didn't go hog wild when my husband went by. Still no excitement urinating since the neuter. It started with my hubby so I have been keeping Gunner away from hubby. I have no idea what hubby did to get him peeing like that. I'm so happy I'm getting my perfect puppy back. I'm rewatching podcasts now. hopefully fix my oops... Thank you for these shows!
Great podcast! I love hearing you say things I've come to realize after my 6 years with rescue pig hunting dogs. Helps me know I'm on the right track...was that a pun? Ha ha.
I’d love more info about separation anxiety. We’ve built up so that I can be gone for up to four hours (my mom is home with him). It’s been slow progress and we’re getting there. I guess just hearing more strategies would be appreciated!
I m in recallers which I really think will help my rescue puppy , I love your podcasts , I massively struggle with planning , journaling and training consistency due to dyslexia and undiagnosed as yet adhd. Do you know of any tips for making training plans when your chaotic but willing. Just asking as I know your dyslexic also and have so much respect for your achievements. Thanks
Hi Rhi, it's so awesome you and your puppy are in Recallers with us 🧡 For planning, Susan has a video on how she organizes her training to help - ruclips.net/video/vFZpn62pI60/видео.html
@@mushroom_thrillers thanks loads will check it out , kinda feels like I shouldn't be doing an online training course but where I live there are no reinforcement trainers. I really appreciate your help.
@@mushroom_thrillers cheers again its great help I'm into recallers for 3 months ish and only couple games on from you , I not worried about that but do keep feeling I have to restart due to inconsistency. Your advice is great and I'm going to try to do that 10 to 20 mins 2 t 3 times a week with training. Thanks for your kindness.
I would welcome some do's and don'ts in training and exercising a large dog to lower their chance to develop HD since that can be caused partly by what they get to do besides a genetic predisposition.
If you do this Q&A thing again, here's one. My dog doesn't entertain herself very well. I take her out in morning, do some training, give her breakfast, then a kong. I need her to let me work until later in the afternoon when we can go out for a walk and play a game. Instead, she whines, wants up, wants out (can't let her out on her own where I live). Even if I had a fenced yard I doubt she'd be happy outside on her own. So I take her out even though I don't think she really needs to toilet because she just sniffs around and barks to hear herself bark. She doesn't get the concept of "not dog time".
I was worried about working from home too, especially with the dogs and was afraid I wasn't disciplined enough. The dogs eat their breakfast, everyone gets in their designated areas, my first break - you guys stay there, mommy has to get a shower. I come back, still sleeping - good pups. Lunch - time to go out. Susan has a great podcast on don't wake the mamma, relaxation protocol. Kikopup too - nonchalantly rewarding when they're calm - if too focused on getting something, nothing given until out like a light. Hope it's gotten better. Hope that helps.
How can I get my boy to knock off the excessive licking? I don't mind the occasional kisses on the face- and I specifically use the word "kisses" and the same, specific sound to indicate it's welcome when he kisses me and I'm okay with it- in addition to giving him chin and cheek scratchies during- but I am not cool with him randomly licking all over my arms, my legs, my back, etc. whenever the heck he wants to. I've tried using interrupters as well as redirection and even just straight ignoring him when he does it but none of them seem to work. I'm certain its an anxiety thing but everything I've tried to calm him has been ineffective on this front.

Thank you, Annette! Dogs teach us many things 💕

Joining Recallers is the best decision I ever made for my dogs and me. Great podcast, Susan, in addition to Recallers.
Susan, the quality of the information is outstanding.
"You choose your hard" is something I can definitely relate to. It goes with "don't judge others by their choices." 😉
Just joined recallers a few days ago and we’re so excited!!!
Welcome Quinn!! 💙

That's so wonderful! 💕🐕
So lovely to wake up to an answer to the question I asked! Thank you so much for this video 😁
And it's a GREAT question, Sydney! 💙

I would also like this as well.

I think there's a link on their website ?! Think it is "4 Collies" or something similar ?!

My dog knows recall but refuses to listen if around dogs, cats, and even people it's so stressful 😕
Please! Separation anxiety.
Do u have actual dog training videos? I like these podcasts but I would like to see actual tutorials
