May 2023, doing research for building my weekend camper van. Came across this channel. Can’t explain how helpful all these videos have been. I have 15 years experience doing construction, I have learned something in every single video. Love how everything is explained and that you show your mistakes. Keep it up!!! Thank you

I love watching your build and how happy you are when a piece of the puzzle fits.
Your response to your puck lights working was priceless. So much excitement when it works.
You know what you are doing but still have that second of self doubt which instantly vaporizes when the lights come on .

Those puck lights look fantastic! Like many others have said throughout your build, I love how you explain your thought process with all of it - and - that you include your mistakes and show us how you corrected it. It's so helpful. I feel excited right with you, when you complete a task! I can't wait to start my build.

Once again you are helping me feel more confidence to work on these difficult van building tasks.
I felt better to drill 12 holes in my van doors to install my 3 of 5 deadbolts after watching your earlier video.
It took me a bit longer to drill the holes but it felt great when I finished the installation. I now feel so much safer with these deadbolts. My mostly empty van was broken into in February. The thief simply used tool to unlock my driver door lock and stole my martial arts sparring gear.

    Fantastic!
Just a little safety tip.....remember to always use female spade connectors on the wire ends that carry the source power and male connectors on the receiving side, so that if you ever unplug the connectors the "live" wires can never short out on anything metal.
    Great job again!!!

I've been watching vanlife and van build videos for 3 years and I bought a new base cargo Transit in July 2019, got scared 3 days later and took it back, then, finally 12/14/19 I ordered a fully loaded AWD Transit with a Power Side Door feature that has held up the build at Ford all year... Finally last week I got the VIN and window sticker and Ford is building my van 12/1/20... During the year I was able to order many materials for my build and I'm trying to go fast once it finally arrives (although I'm sure it will take longer than I think.) All the while I've been researching and watching RUclips builds.
All that is to say, your videos which I came across this week, have been among the very best I've seen. They are encouraging and so well done and I am floored by how advanced your description of the steps, tools, and techniques are. I'm an electrical engineer who has built cars and done many construction projects and even with my background, you as a self described novice, your skills, communication, and editing blow me and mine away. In truth, your a genius and I appreciate what you have done as well as am thankful for making me feel alot less freaked out about what is about to happen here on my build. I'm very excited and cautiously optimistic.
    Thanks

I absolutely love watching you figure things out on your own. There are so many ways of doing any kind of project however the best way is always your way. Sometimes we mess up a bit but we store that information in our minds so it doesn't happen again. I love stain it is so easy to put on. I built my kitchen and bathroom counters out of oak plywood, stained the with Golden Oak stain then put 4 coats of polyurethane on top but before I put the polyurethane on I put pictures of all my grandkids and it turned out amazing. Keep on keeping on, you are doing great!!!!!

Screws into end grain like those 2x2s won't have much of any holding power, unless you were to pre-drill and fill the hole with glue before driving the screw. Better to use angle bracket and bolt through the plywood. Structural elements need extra strength, since few builders consider the forces in even a slow speed crash. So, upper cabinets should always be attached to the metal ribs of the van via Rivnuts and angle brackets, with bolts through the plywood for maximum holding power in an accident.
Next build, consider wiring for 3 way switches (as in a house, like stairwells so that you can turn on and off from top and bottom of stairs) so that you can turn on and off in the standing area, and in bed. And then a second one with a switch by the side door before stepping in, and one up on a wall inside for on and off...
    Good job on the wiring!

I enjoyed watching this, it was very well done and well planned too. I like this idea as well. With my 2nd van build I'm doing, when I get to my topper, I have to make my own homemade ribs for it because the topper is fiberglass and don't want to accidentally put any screws into it be accident, I'd seen from another van lifer do this with theirs, I actually think that was a good idea what he done that I may do also for mine before I add any cabinets. I'm first doing the work Im almost complete with on the subflooring, when done I'll be installing the vynal flooring tiles, then work on my walls, and new door panels on my barn and cargo doors, and work my way up to the topper. Basically all a new remodel being done from within the van, then when all is complete, then I'll work on my floor plans for the sofa beds (2 single sized beds, one for me and one for my dad, as separate sleeping quarters too) a mini kitchenette, a handmade compost toilet (my dad being elderly and a bit disabled from the stroke he had 3 yrs ago, he needs a potty available at almost all times, plus, I'll make sure there will be his urnal near by (one, he needs a peepee target if he don't and I have to clean up any mess he would make when he misses 😁), some needed storage too, etc. I'm glad I'm almost done with the floor at least, it's been a combination of caregiving for my elderly dad, running necessary errands, timing and money, thus, when I get paid I can buy more needed supplies to continue working on my van as well. Sad thing is, my dad can't physically help me with this van project, though he enjoys helping me some financially because he wants to and he so wants to go traveling with me to go see our grandbabies and family that we haven't seen for years, him for much longer than I have, I've also been doing all of the physical work it on my own. This is another reason it's taking a bit longer to do.. anyway, I do enjoy watching your videos on your van. I love watching all sorts of ideas from other van lifers, so I could use the nugget of ideas to mix with my own too. Be blessed and safe also. Looking forward to seeing you and your next video.

Enjoy your videos. Here's a suggestion that's a little late; Make cardboard templates of walls and floors and whatever else to get the fit and then use them to do the wood cutting.
You don't even need one big piece of cardboard. You can tape it bunch of broken down boxes together. It doesn't matter how pretty that looks it's only the outside dimensions you're going for.

Hey! I abosultely loveee the vanbuild, it is so inspirational and I'm starting to make plans to also get something like this done (I'm only 17 now tough😅) I have 1 question: how do you get mail (for taxes and so)?

      Thats great!
I have most of my mail sent to my mom's house. For stuff that I need to be sent to me, I can send a package to the closest UPS and pick it up there :)
