Growing up in the Mojave Desert I had many native American friends. I lost my friend Johnny who was an Apache to heroin. He kept getting infections and limbs removed from shooting up. The ills of the modern world are bad for everyone not just native Americans but the stoic way he let his addiction take him like the pain didn't discourage him and cause him to stop made me see Nattive Americans are very different in how they handle things. They would get terrible hangovers where they would pass out drunk and wake up drunk but the physical pain didn't stop them from trying to self medicate away the psychological pain they felt whereas other people would either stop or slow down going thru such physical pain.
