This. I grew with this band from the very first album, from their support shows for Therion, until Coal phase, but at Malina we split our ways. This is not Leprous I want to listen to, good to hear, nothing to remember.

    • @JeremyJensenTheOriginal
      @JeremyJensenTheOriginal 5 лет назад +22

      Perfect description.
Unfortunately this song has killed my hype for the album. I don't mind when metal bands actively work to break the shackles of being "metal" -- but this song was honestly boring instrumentally. I like Einar's vocals, but it's the instruments that made Leprous one of my favorite metal bands, and those do not feel present enough.

    • @paulsadler8296
      @paulsadler8296 5 лет назад +25

@@JeremyJensenTheOriginal I could agree that it's perhaps harmonically boring (very much a stock chord sequence), but in no way is it instrumentally boring, in places the interplay between them is pretty intricate. Anyway, on second listen I actually love it, despite myself!

Leprous shows that you can create better music if you dont limit yourself by something like a genre.
if you write music how you feel. how the band feels. if you embrace your current influences and let them flow into your music, you will get a masterpiece like this album and any other leprous album.
ive been told so many times "do this genre! if you keep switching we cant sell you!" but this is not my ultimate goal as musician i want to express something and reach people. thats what i get from leprous. thanks for that!

    When I'm far from home
    I feel blurry
    Where my weight is gone
    There is nothing
    Whenever I go wrong
I hear the same old song
    Voices from below
I fear it never goes away
All I could do in the end was wait
    Laying down with my fate
All I could do in the end was wait
United with my fears I'll alleviate
The loop goes on and on
    Until my mind is gone
    Gone in circles
    The barricade is strong
    It's feeling all alone
    Have to accept it
    The tower can't be torn
    Before the cape is worn
    Losing control
    Feels the only way
All I could do in the end was wait
    Laying down with my fate
All I could do in the end was wait
United with my fears I'll alleviate
All I could do was wait
    Laying down with my fate
All I could do was wait
    Now I will alleviate
All I could do was wait
    Laying down with my fate
All I could do in the end was wait
    Laying down with my fate

I love how you guys are progressing your sound while still maintaining elements that make it sound like Leprous. I can't say I don't miss the heavy Leprous but I'm absolutely in love with these new songs. Also love how personal and intimate these lyrics are! Can't wait to see you guys live again.
