    HUD ANNOUNCES $2.8 BILLION TO HELP PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS
    Funding opportunity reflects Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to equity and evidence-based solutions to homelessness
    Funding opportunity will also support local engagement to increase affordable housing supply
    WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today announced that it will provide $2.8 billion in competitive funding to homeless services organizations across the country for supportive services and housing programs for people experiencing homelessness. The funding opportunity reflects the Biden-Harris Administration’s continued commitment to equity and evidence-based solutions to address homelessness. It also reinforces the Administration’s commitment to boost housing supply and lower costs by supporting local engagement to increase the supply of affordable housing. Read HUD’s Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
    “Every person deserves to live with dignity and security in safe, stable, and affordable home,” said HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge. “Coupled with the historic resources in President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, the Continuum of Care Program grants made available by HUD today will help more Americans experiencing homelessness move into homes and access critical supportive services like health care, education, and job training. HUD and the Administration continue to prioritize equity in homelessness efforts and the humane treatment of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, and the funding announced today will help communities do just that.”
    The FY 2022 competitive funding will be awarded through HUD’s Continuum of Care Program, the largest source of federal grant funding for homeless services and housing programs serving people experiencing homelessness. Nearly 400 Continuum of Care communities apply for the NOFO each year. HUD funds approximately 7,000 homeless services projects annually through the Continuum of Care Program.
    As with prior NOFOs, Continuums of Care will have the opportunity to renew existing projects, apply for new projects, and to reallocate resources from lower performing projects to better serve people experiencing homelessness. However, this year’s NOFO includes some new opportunities.
    In FY2022, access to the CoC Program has been further expanded for Indian Tribes and Tribally Designated Housing entities who are now invited to form CoCs and be designated as Collaborative Applicants.
    Additionally, the NOFO contains explicit funding for (1) survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking; and (2) youth. The NOFO will provide at least $52 million for new rapid re-housing, supportive services, and other activities critical to assist survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking. Approximately $80 million is available for non-competitive Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) renewal and replacement expiring grants.
    Specifically, HUD is seeking projects that:
    End homelessness for all persons experiencing homelessness;
    Place emphasis on racial equity and anti-discrimination polices for LGTBQ+ individuals;
    Use a Housing First approach;
    Reduce unsheltered homelessness and reduce the criminalization of homelessness;
    Improve system performance;
    Partner with housing agencies to leverage access to mainstream housing programs;
    Partner with health agencies to coordinate health and supportive services, including to prevent and respond to future infectious disease outbreaks;
    Advance racial equity and addressing racial disparities in homelessness;
    Engage people with lived experience of homelessness in decision-making; and
    Support local engagement to increase the supply of affordable housing.
    Applications for the FY 2022 CoC Program NOFO are due to HUD on September 30, 2022. Click here for additional information.

    I hope they do get the help they need. I've been watching some videos from "invisible people" and it's just so sad. Some gave in to drugs, others were kicked out from their parents/foster care, lost jobs, illness, etc.

    I wish they would help drug free veterans with an actual family with homeless prevention and give them a nice and safe house and neighborhood. Far from drug addictions and the ghetto. My family is barely surviving in Vegas, and years ago we tried for help from n hard times and were told they only help veterans under the bridge that are already far gone in the head.

    I hope to see people such as myself get a section 8 voucher for a house.i am physically disabled with a left heart valve that is paralyzed a heart defibrillator implanted for my enlarged heart Crohn's disease severe flare ups at times for 15yrs. I've been a victim of humiliation manipulation taken advantage of cause i tried to see the good in these tenants in the past a 15yrs.tenant in a HUD funded apartment complex that condones drug activities fraudulent activities and physically assaulted I've been January 25th 2022 by a tenant who has a warrant is a drug dealer extortionist and was not arrested or evicted .i did sue and won in August 2022 the property owners.I still see condoned drug activities and people charities organizations churches should be aware donating to a property where HUD housing is taken advantage of drug addicts living at this HUD funded apartment complex for the physically disabled and elderly supposed to be.i'm a 15yrs tenant the longest standing tenant I've seen several management go and recently a lot of the maintenance go which is a very good thing should be a investigation.HUD housing should go to people who really need housing not for a group of con artist possible squatters here also manipulators to sit around a could be a good apartment complex for the physically disabled and elderly texting about drug selling all day.i can't prove this currently for i take nothing to do with no tenant or squatters neighborly is something that isn't at this HUD funded apartment complex that HUD should check and. do a deep investigation as to where their funds are going are people in need receiving the help the need and if there is active money laundering current to date within the rental office.People donate large funds to a organized active criminal agenda and not made aware of it.people who donate you're being taken advantage of by more than one entity of this HUD funded apartment complex a lot of deceit going on.

    Indiana is nuts! There is nooooooooo help for section 8, emergency housing, or low income. Continuum of care is a joke they give you the run around and suggests shelter that is like being out on the street. Meanwhile the hourly wage is not enough money to get a full tank of gas to make it to the job in the first place. It's just sad!

      @@Section8Consulting I'm on ssdi, homeless ( got sick/heart surgery etc) in Albuquerque and originally from West Texas. About 8 years ago,, I waited for 3 years for a voucher that was given to someone else when I couldn't find a place to live in under 3 weeks. (They never answered the phone, so I lost 3 apartments because they couldn't contact my housing people). I've never Ever had a housing voucher. I've worked, payed taxes, I'm not on drugs so I think I deserve a voucher. I'm ready to get off the streets and try to trust the system again so I can get a voucher, but I have no idea where to begin.

    I have reached out to local housing for 3weeks steady to Director.
    Regarding severe retaliations.
    Manager will not stop. Was given citation.Stopping medical supplies etc
    This is Scary because I am 100 percent innocent with solid proof .
    Appealed to Superior court 8 29 22
    Granted after no discovery during 9 11 district appearances.
    Dismissed appeal because I did not pay September rent on 9 1 22
    Lawyer retired, left with no legal advice, I was credited back on 8 30 22 a partial overpayment
    My rent was technically paid.
    Paid September rent also on 10th.
    Which is my agreed move in pay date.
    I would like to hear your opinion
    Re: appeal..
    Apologies and thanks for your time I will be happy to make appointment.
    I understand your not lawyer.
    Can you direct me to my next move?
    I am 67 no sleep. Retaliations above me /Manager below me.
    Thanks for any help Jay

    Please help me i don't know where else to turn i used to be very scared living as a tenant at the current HUD funded apartment complex i had 2 guns put on me and fear placed on me lot's of verbal threats years ago one by the tenant who hit me in my face January 25th 2022 and the apartment complexes audio cameras monitoring outside the whole apartment complex caught recorded the physical assault thank God there are cameras and audio monitoring or else i couldn't have proven my bring hit in my left side face to police that answered the call of my physical assault January 25th 2022.i ask for help here in hopes the right person will respond and act.This apartment complex is in need of a major sweep and all new tenants kitchen appliances light bulbs need replacement living room fixtures like my ceiling fan needs replacement my oven bottom needs replacement holidays are coming i like to cook and create good recipes etc.security acknowledgement paperwork i didn't sign at lease renewal it is not effective at all and I'm due restitution and i think rental money for being charged on a couple of things years ago For all the past anxiety that i had endured and no matter how police are called the drug distribution sells the whole 12 unit apartment complex remains.yes i want to relocate it takes money to.move which i don't have.i believe though my post will go somewhere.Thank you.ALL very much.i also have a bending right hand arthritis I've survived being on a ventilator in ICU at the hospital a while back.Some one must help it's the only. way i can reach the proper people in power to help.me.
