Exclusive control group on makes it so that a unit or building can't be in more than one control group. If you have a scout on 1 and then add it to group 2, Exclusive control group on will make it in group 2 only. With it off it would be in both group 1 and 2.
Cool video. I think it's great that you chose a civ because it's the civ you have the most fun with. That's how I pick civs too. Civ balance is so close that it doesn't matter for our level.
Yeah the first time playing I picked Ayyubids because of their Fast Castle Meta rush was crazy good, but I became bored and anytime I switched I dropped rank. This time I won't make that mistake again!
So playing with only select all military units isn't that bad of habit, its not a flawed method its just your army is centralized from that perspective, that has downsides but your attention will be on offensive and economic mostly. The way to improve this centralization of army is to chose a tempo group attacking and never over commit with full army. Which means: - after selecting all your army you will group them in one location and form 2-3 smaller armies control grouped and give them commands respectively and never lose both of them in an attack - you control group ur most important unit on key 4 (the units you don't want to die siege) - you don't want to remake those control groups unless you just want to merge other units into them also its micro intensive which this way of playing isn't about - you select all army only for reorganizing control groups or to do directional push - never work with more than 3 control groups the more groups the harder it gets - you setup defensive walls and vision around ur base and you are playing full agression because centralization implies you have not good defenses besides walls - you are playing macro, not micro because select all military units is overwriting tasks. - if you are on defensive and your economy isn't great you can assume you lost, unless you split and send a raiding army and hope you are doing damage
Great Summary. Talking with GUA I noticed that every pro has their own style. I've watched a bunch of beasty videos and noticed his style is completely different, but that man has APM around 500 and is built different. GUA's style is much easier for someone coming up with lower APM. I'm going to get coaching from a bunch of different Pros and see if we can find more styles. It is really interesting to see the different options they choose and can even contradict each other.
Hotkey funny: I changed control groups 7-0 to be f1-f4 so i could reach it easier with my left hand. One day instead of ctrl+f4 i accidentally pressed alt+f4. You should try it sometime. It has an interesting effect on the game.
I could see myself doing something like that. I had a tiling window manager on Linux and bound Win+Q to quit and also had it select units hotkey. Boom instant loss lol.
I always ask if I can record beforehand. However, If GUA wanted me to take these down I would. I also make sure to leave links to his twitch and youtube to help promote his services.
I shift sent 8 villagers once to kill a boar, then build a mill. I was in a fight so turned to the fight instead of the boar. When I looked back 7 villagers were dead and the boar was killing the 8th who was trying to build the mill. Apparently I had it set to build before gathering, so the vills hit the boar and then built the mill before the boar died. From there it was gg.
10:29 I had the same question you had. Wouldn't the villager still have the mining in its queue? This is already an improvement because it allows you to shift place multiple buildings right away without having to take the villager off mining or place one building and then shift place the rest, so I'm taking this tip for myself. But your question seemed pretty logical and I wish it was confirmed in this video.

@TitusTechGaming How do you play AOE4 on Linux?
Do they agree you post their coaching ?

This is interesting. Plp coach other to have fun. You can have coach for sports.. Looks like this is sport.
Yeah I'm going to make so many videos with pretty much every aoe4 pro player that sells coaching lol. Sooo much to learn.
