Dudes, I have had one of these for 9 years, have 170k on the odometer, drive it on the beach in DE pretty much every weekend, never air down, and never EVER have even thought about getting stuck in 4x2.
He might be or he was just having fun seeing if it would go up in 2wd, I’m experienced & part of the fun is seeing if you can overcome some obstacles in 2wd
Guess they didn't learn the old trick of apply break pressure for the open differential to grab traction if they are wanting to demonstrate "climbing" in 2wd vs giving gas and momentum
My fj is pretty decent but its the 6spd awd model. I also daily an 80 series so theres that haha. Yotas have the low end which is all ya need really. 22re and other tractor motors will climb walls
If you are looking for wheels, get them with small et like -20. I got the wheels from Nissan Patrol on 33" tires and I needed to cut frame on 2" lift. (It still scrapes when goes down on max turn) So like 33 on -20/-10 et wheels
It's more reliable that way and has enough power. 4.7 only sounds better and has like funny 16 kp more lol. But it's havier and it would destroy the weight balance in this car which is 50x50 stock.
My fj Cruiser is way faster than my 100 series with the 2uz but the fj is also 6spd. After the exhaust upgrade and tranny gear set my 80 series is tied with my 100 lol.

It's 2 door 4Runner, so extremely reliable. They both have the same drive train and were assembled on the same line at the Tahara plant in Japan.

The 4x4 was not engaged, if he had put on the 4x4 that would have claimed there so easy, but it was still capable of doing it in 4x2
not 4x4
Its is the ''differential '' that supposed to say.
Even a beast in 4x2. Love mine-always doing stupid shit and she hasn’t failed me yet
My dream car . I would like to have it in a Green Hulk version 😮
Way better than a wrangler
If you want to get there buy the Range Rover. If you want to come back, buy the Toyota Land Cruiser or FJ Cruiser.

I did that in a ford ltd
Try doing it in a prius.
Try doing it in a Civic :))
i did that in my wheelchair.
Ugh, love my S10 ZR2 but if I ever HAD to absolutely get something else for whatever reason, I always wanted one of these.
get used to the blind spots and they're sweet. I love my 80 series way more but my fj cruiser is a sweet stock vehicle. 6spd Manual awd version
Open diffs require a little bump. Love it
It has a rear locker
And a-trac.
Which neither were being used in this bad display of "climbing"
Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
Just give it the beans in 2WD
Only negative I can think of for these things is that God awful back window, otherwise damn surprising little thing
