Lurgan Stories: Remembering “The Lion of Lurgan”, Jim Haughey

On 12 September 2023 the Craigavon Trades Council organised an event to remember the life of Jim Haughey, on the 80th anniversary of his death. Jim fought in the Spanish Civil War as part of the International Brigades, and later joined the Royal Canadian Air Force to fight in World War 2. He was tragically killed in an air crash, but his legacy lives on as ‘the Lion of Lurgan’.
