  • "I visited Jangyuksa, located in Yeongdeok-gun, as the sixth featured destination for 'My Own Selection of 100 Temple Journey Sceneries,' introducing temples from all over Korea."
My sixth visit was to Jangyuksa Temple in Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Heal yourself with the sound of waves along the Ibaek-ri sea road. Heal once again at the temple stay at Jangyuksa Temple in Unseo Mountain, where the clouds live.
Hongryeonam Hermitage, the first practice site of Zen Master Naong, one of the three great monks of Korean Buddhism, and the main Buddha hall of Jangyuksa Temple that he founded! We deeply recite Cheongsanga, a well-known Chinese poem written by Zen master Naong by looking around there.
In addition to the footsteps of Zen Master Naong, Korean National Treasure No. 993, the Seated Dry Lacquered Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, Jangyuksa Temple has many tangible cultural assets, including murals in Daeungjeon!
When you are satisfied with the stories and attractions, the temple located inside the temple, the dawn of temple stay and humanities healing center awaits.
While walking through the bamboo forest inside the temple, I suddenly saw the ‘snow crab’ of Yeongdeok Snow Crab. It does not mean 'big crab', but rather the legs extending from the body. I realized that it is called 'snow crab' because it looks like bamboo.
