    Beautiful place. I went there once on an unplanned visit .
    Didn't have high expectations. I was genuinely stunned.
    The Culture / the People / the History / the Food / the
    Weather . All amazing - but so is rest of Turkey !!
    After the earthquake and recent economic problems visiting tourists can really help the economy too.! And....No !...I don't work for the Turkish Tourist Board..!!

    I would say the countless Greek cities on the Greek mainland land coast, and the Greek islands are the pearls of the Aegean…but regarding Smyrna…we will return. When that woman talks about the history of Smyrna…she mentions Roman but…not Greek. There was nothing Roman about Smyrna..it’s all Greek. Turks should stop whitewashing history…everything was Greek, not Roman…all the names you use are Greek…
