Hmm I dont think thats a 63 tele!the knobs/switch/pickguard are from the 50s (if all original). Probably early 50s but i need more photos to confirme that.
There are a bunch of interesting items with this Telecaster, would love to know the full story. This looks to be a 63’ body. The neck, bridge section, pickguard and screws however are from a 53’ donor guitar. Someone in a previous comment called that year out correctly. The neck pickup is likely 53’ as well. The tuners have been replaced. The control knobs have been replaced, the string tree screw looks replaced, the strap buttons have been replaced and the switch is questionable. Hard to say without looking at the control cavity in person. My guess is this is a guitar was put together in the early to mid 70’s with parts that were available at the time. The reason they said it was a 63’ was the body marking and the color. Whomever put this together probably had a damaged or smashed 😢 53’ (headstock shows old damage) and transferred parts to a 63’ body, hence the reason why the neck does not perfectly fit the body. Still a really cool player grade guitar which has seen a lot of gigs. That 53’ bridge pickup probably sounds awesome. She probably picked it up for a good price. No sense in restoring it to a complete 53’… it has a story and a history now.
Btw I guarantee John knew exactly what he was looking at, hence the question about the pickups.. but he is an awesome interviewer for not calling out the guitar. Which is why he titled the video 63’ tele because the body is a 63’.

Um, I don't think that's a '63. If it's legit, at least that neck is pre-1957. I am guessing she has a '53.
Absolutely, maple neck + non philips screws on the pickguard.
