This channel is amazing! I just found it. Wow she had so many failed marriages, I bet that takes a toll in a person. I wonder if it's better to never have been married than having multiple failed marriages?
Veronica Lake and her contemporary Frances Farmer may have suffered from what we now know as Bipolar disorder, formerly called manic-depressive illness or manic depression. Both Lake and Farmer were known for issues with alcohol. I wonder what the men in Veronica's life were thinking. Yes, Lake was beautiful, but one could see in her eyes that she was intense. The term: "Crazier than a bag of hammers" comes to mind. Lake died at 50, and Farmer at 56. Anne Heche was another. Intense. Issues of substance abuse. Dead at 53. Thank you Steve. Another fine presentation. Love the "Fortress of Solitude".
She was one of my idols I had beautiful hair when I was younger and some of my older aunts and everything said they were reminded them of Veronica lake so I started watching her movies read her story she had a lot of heart breaks I don't think she was really a bad person I think her mother turned her kids against her
Actually Lake did suffer from schizophrenia. A horrible horrible disease that destroys lives. I watched it destroy my sister from ages 18 to 42. She was as beautiful as Lake. Don't ever think this disease is the same as multiple personality. They are completely different illnesses.
I remember in 1973, the same year Veronica Lake died, she appeared in "What's My Line" and her appearance was so unrecognizable (that was how much her looks had deteriorated) that the panel didn't know who she was.
I heard she had done a public service announcement discouraging women from copying her hair do. A lot of women worked in factories during World War II and it was a little dangerous around machinery.
Great video. My mother named all her kids after her favorite movie stars. I have an older sister named Veronica and another named Tallulah. My mother was a little nuts and so are her daughters.
There are numerous reports on Alan Ladd’s height, from 5ft 5 to 5ft 9.5. His draft registration cites the latter, 5ft 9.5. I don’t think we’ll ever know the truth. 5ft 6 is the general consensus. I know his daughter Cheryl Ladd is only 5ft 4. I don’t think Veronica Lake’s height 4ft 11. There are numerous accounts of her height also. From 4ft 9 to 5ft 3x I’m pretty confident, Lake’s height was closer to 5ft1. Whatever her height, she was a great beauty with a very sad ending, due to alcohol abuse.
I watched her interview on Dick Cavett from 1971, she was very intelligent and witty, but I could see the damage both cigarettes and booze had done to her body. She was 48 years old but looked closer to 70.
Thank you for a most interesting overview of Veronica Lake. I always remember her as the peek-a-boo gal from the forties with that unique hairstyle. Though I've never before seen her as she aged, It's obvious that alcohol took it's toll on her health. May she rest in Peace.
@@TheLifeandSadEnding I've seen it many times, and it always makes me smile, and she truly was amazing in it 😊 Thanks again for another great video Steve. I hope that you are doing well 😺❤
I had thought for years that Veronica Lake was the inspiration for the cartoon character Jessica Rabbit. That was the "rumor" that was seemingly spread everywhere when "Who Franed Roger Rabbit?" was released. Turns out that wasn't true. But I think there's definitely a resemblance, even if just a little one.
No!!! 4'10"???? I never would've thought. She was so stunningly beautiful!! I have to read her autobiography. RIP
Since subscribed, I've enjoyed your daily videos, it's a nice way to start the day. Cheers Sir 🍻
Thanks 👍
Veronica lake starred in this gun for hire with the late Alan Ladd a great motion picture

Thanks for watching!

Hi Steve! Wow! Veronica Lake was a beauty of a woman! Sad to know she passed so young.
🙏 RIP VERONICA LAKE 🙏
Wow 😮 Steve. I don't think I'd heard any of that info before. Well done 😃

So sad. She truly was a classic beauty. Thank you for such a thoughtful channel. Top notch and you’re a class act.
Thank you kindly!
Totally agree!!!❤

Wow... booze really cut her life short, so sad. Thanks Steve.

I just watched 60 episodes.
Enjoy every one of them..
I'm now a great fan....
Thanks
That's great, Thanks!
Beautiful woman, decent actress, sad years at the end of her life. Loved her in I Married a Witch.
As far as you having a sad ending, I would say yours would be a victorious ending, look what you have accomplished with your channel. 🎉😊
Thanks Dave!
Now that IS a sad ending for a beautiful lady. It's seems that karma might've had a role in her demise.

Beautiful woman, I think she was portrayed in LA Confidential, not in a great way 😂

Such beauty, Just sad to see how downhill she went. I did love that peekaboo look. I bet Alan Ladd did also 🕳️🕳️
This is wild, I just watched I Married a Witch last weekend for the first time. 50! Great bio Steve, thank you. 🎉
The movie was later the bases for the classic TV show Bewitched.
She was very lovely in that movie.
That's the movie that made me fall in love with her. She was dreamy.
Didn't know about her a a kid. She ended up pretty damaged. Sad.

Yes i think i know her but not sure where i saw her. I have seen so much in my life.
After I watched I Married A Witch, I started wearing my hair as she did, and it was amazing. So young to pass away, and how she did 😿
Yes she was breathtaking in that film.
@@TheLifeandSadEnding I've seen it many times, and it always makes me smile, and she truly was amazing in it 😊 Thanks again for another great video Steve. I hope that you are doing well 😺❤
She was badass. Flying her own plane from Los Angeles to New York.
Way too young....sad.
My favorite movie of hers was I married a Witch ❤ I remember Sullivans Travels. 🔥🎥⭐️😍🎭😇 Ashes in an Antique store wow . Thanks Ed. ❤
4:25. Gorgeous.
Good on ya I'm 5.7 but I stand tall on stage with my Sax. 🐊
😢
Wow! Great video TY!
Glad you enjoyed it!
At least she passed in a beautiful place called Vermont.
Billboards are illegal there.
Too bad its a liberal sh it hole.
One wonders what happened to her children?
Tom Scollo: Love the channel !!!
She was before my time. Never knew anything about her. Thanks Steve.
She looked so old and wrinkled near the end. I was shocked when I heard "50 years old". With those smokey eyes I'm thinking Cruella Deville.
Wow! Live hard, die hard. Yikes!

Yes, my wife said I should have mentioned that in the video.
Thanks
Thanks Steve
Very sad
Steve you are a gentleman and a Scolari and I am proud to call you friend.
Thanks John!
