- A few weeks ago, my wife and I did a podcast episode about kitchen hacks for the VIP. We discussed several things, including the drawer that holds all of our big utensils. Several folks commented with some good ideas about ways to make this drawer a little bit easier to manage, so I thought I'd share those today!

This is my favorite one, It is on sale right now for 50% off. I'm getting another one. Best thing ever for the blind cook. Kitchen Utensil Holder - 360° Rotating Utensil Caddy - Weighted Base for Stability - Utensil Crock With Removable Divider for Easy Cleaning - Countertop Utensil Organizer.
Keeping your most commonly used utensils in the same spot is a great tip that makes cooking so much easier. However, it only works well for me if the other cooks in the house put the utensils back where they belong after using them. When my favourite spatula is missing, I start a scavenger hunt, checking the main utensil drawer, the sink, the dishwasher, and everywhere else it might be. I'm even considering building a personalized kitchen tool belt and keeping it under lock and key until needed.
Good point! And please share that tool belt if you are it! ;)
I do the container method. My birth mom taught me before she passed. She used a large vase but I use an old 2 qt. plastic pitcher and have five or six things in it that I use frequently and it sits next to my stove.
I have a favorite spatula that usually stays on the stove. I also have two crocks that belonged to my Grandma and I have one on each side of the stove. The one on the right contains the items I use most.
My husband is our VIP in the family and he is the one that empties our dishwasher so he knows where things are. He also puts away the groceries , again so he knows where they are. I can see so I feel it is my responsibility to follow his lead and easier for me to “find” things rather than him.
Hubby made a divider for me. 😊
