You can tell that they all have specific styles of singing that even Wendy and Seulgi at times have a hard time covering other members. Red Velvet is a powerhouse vocal group
I've never seen Wendy struggling to cover anyone though.

@@TwsBelgi79 exactly when other member tries to cover someone else's part it still doesnt have the same quality like the original one.
I'm so proud of them for covering most of Wendy's parts nicely especially for a 5-member group and the one missing was the main vocal. I can't imagine how hard it is for them to even witness missing one member not to forget the amount of time they needed to memorize the lyrics, rehearse, learn the part, and even rearranging the choreography, especially Seulgi and Joy (the vocalists) that ended up doing most of Wendy's part. On a bright side though we could see a lot of good potentials from the other members just by covering Wendy's part(?) I hope they will be back as 5 soon:"
also where did wendy go?
She fell during a rehearsal for SBS stage last year and has been recovering this whole year. The clips where Wendy was missing recenly was from their La Rouge concerts I believe

Seulgi already the one who has the most part in RV’s songs and now she even covers most of Wendy’s lines and still did it flawlessly, such an amazing artist
I love all of them but I'm impressed on how well Joy sounds when covering Wendy. She sounds incredible, I hope SM gives her more adlibs to play with her vocals.

Joy covers Wendy the best. I find that interesting since Seulgi is the better singer. There's something about the cadence of Joy's voice that captures Wendy's vibes the most.
I wouldnt say that seulgi is a better singer just that she has more control and has more practice singing high notes, but I agree with the rest( I just don’t like to compare that’s all)

Seulgi is the better singer though. I think Joy has improved the most since debut between the two, but Seulgi still has a better technique and more weapons to use in her arsenal. I certainly think the gap between the two is smaller than at debut, but Seulgi is still the better singer.
They both are so very good at what they do, so praises to them both.
Similar tone. Joy is in between Seulgi and Wendy with tone so I think she covers them well
I have to say Joy sang 6:48 fairly well. Really props to all of them!

@Ice Queen actually Wendy's lower register is the best in the group, all her registers are the most developed, she is a well-rounded vocalist. Joy's lowest note is E3 but she can only support down to A3 and it's pretty shallow, lower than that she gets really breathy and shaky, like a whisper. Irene's lowest is also E3 but she has no sense of support, just carries more tonality than Joy. Yeri's lowest note is D3 and also has no sense of support, but she can go slightly lower than Irene. Seulgi and Wendy both can go as low as C#3 but Wendy can support down to F#3 and carry tonality to Eb3, while Seulgi can only support down to G3 and below this she's breathy and struggles to project, but among all of Seulgi's registers, her lower register is the most developed, just not as developed as Wendy's, so for the best lower register, it's: Wendy > Seulgi > Yeri > Irene > Joy
@Ice Queen well, it didn't seem like you were aware, you even said "Seulgi has the best low register". Many Luvies aren't aware. But yes of course Yeri and Irene are mostly assigned the low notes because they can't project well so of course they're not gonna be belting and singing highnotes when that could be dangerous to their vocal chords, so it's safer for them to sing the mid to low range. But there's been plenty of display of Wendy's low register in their albums as well, especially in the background vocals. She does the low notes for her own lines and sometimes when harmonizing with the others, same goes for Seulgi.
@Ice Queen I'm not trying to argue about this. I've also been with them since Happiness, don't try to make this into a competition. I gave you the facts that Wendy's low register is the best and that's it. Being assigned to it the most doesn't mean anything. and no I'm not wrong, yes Irene still does sing low notes too and her husky voice doesn't mean anything (Campfire, Lucky Girl, ICC, Little Little, Automatic, Something Kinda Crazy, Candy, Body Talk.. and the list goes on) They literally all sing low notes. The same low notes that were sung by one member in one verse, was sung by another member in the next verse, so it's not like it's always the same ppl doing them, it switches. Even when they do harmonies, ex. when Seulgi harmonizes with Yeri or Irene she will do the high harmony and there are times she has done the low harmony while they do the high one. and it's the same with Wendy too, when she harmonizes with Irene or Yeri she has also done the high harmony and sometimes the low ones. Also when Joy, Seulgi, and Wendy harmonize with eachother they also switch which harmonies they sing, they're all really good. but it doesn't change the fact that Wendy's lower register is the strongest

imo the way they're able to covered each other lines is because they know the ability and limit for their vocal and only red velvet can cover red velvet precisely. for instance yeri covered wendy's lines in bad boy, she's not trying to make it higher pitch otherwise she's embodying it with her comfortable singing voice and soft tone that she had. also the adlibs is played a major thing on rv discography. that's why RED VELVET IS THE BEST GROUP ALIVE according to billboard. i'm sorry if this confusing it's literally 3am here so...bear with me also i'm not a music major and those lil rumbling is based from what i listen.

Joy has that kind of voice like Girls Generation’s Seohyun. They can pretty adapt their voice to everyone singing. Even tho Jessica and Taeyeon were good at covering each other parts, Seohyun sounded the most like them when she would cover their parts. Same with Joy, she sounds the most like Wendy when she cover for her as well as when she covers for Seulgi

At 14:20 joy sounded really promising towards hitting that high note of Wendy in hit that drum, not saying she would be able to but the day she is able to it’s over for me I really hope that she keeps getting better, and yes I’ve come back to this vid after almost three years but it’s because their vocals are js so good and there really isn’t any other rv content at the moment sadly

all of them do such a great job when covering the missing member's parts ! it's pretty obvious something is missing because each of them has a specific style but they do NOT let the performances be bad even when it's only 4 of them

The cadence to Wendy's voice is unmatched. She changes how she sings on each song and has this charisma that not everyone has and knows how to exude emotions to fit the vibe of each song. She is one of the most agile and versatile vocalists in the game!
