Step 1: Mark your current position with anything easily recognizable (make something out of the things around you). Step 2: Check how long you've been walking. Step 3: Walk towards one direction passed the minutes you spent getting lost while making sure you mark your way back. Step 4: If you spent 20 minutes getting lost and walked 30 minutes towards one direction to no avail, go back to your mark and try another direction. (Repeat and you'll be out within the day). What if someone intentionally left you in the middle of the forest while you were sleeping? Walk towards one direction and hope for the best while eating and drinking things along the way.
My dad taught survival in the military, you have a lot of the right steps but you're missing a few and they are in the wrong order. My dad taught mallow hierarchy of needs. The order he taught was; First aid (if you crashed or there was an accident or injury), Fire (for heat and to help relax), Signal (bonfire or giant S.O.S in snow or sand, you could even clear an area and carve in the dirt), Shelter (try and build a few feet away from the fire to heat shelter), Water Then Food.
This series is young, but it’s so dope! I love how they give an almost continuation video after each video. That idea is so cool cuz it’s helpful and also serves as dual promotion. It makes you wanna watch the next recommended vid, where as other channels usually have a bunch of their most recent/popular vids. One thing I do wish is that they actually continued from the previous video, even if for a moment. For example with this vid, the previous one was “falling in out a plane without a parachute”. It’d have Been cool if they started this vid with how they set it up at the end of the last one. Like, “so what happens when you survive without a chute and now you’re lost in the woods?” You could give a brief “synopsis” I guess, before transitions to “So what if you’re lost in the woods and didn’t survive a fall from 3500 feet in the air”, because I’m sure the outcome , and process for both scenarios would be totally different 🤔. Got kinda lost in a mountain forest but only for 1 day. Short story, was with a friend exploring and we crossed a small stream with lots of slippery rocks, we had to use our arms not to fall due to the rocks and current combination. This was at 1pm. We kept walking and when it was getting dark and cold we started heading back only to find that the stream had grown so much that we could not even place one foot, my friend made an attempt to cross and got a bit injured. So we decided to walk down stream with the few remaining daylight, we got nowhere, had to spend the night there and making it back the next day was not easy. Anyway I learnt many things that we did wrongly before and after getting "Lost"
I once got lost in a public park. My brother and I went off the beaten path and wandered into the trees where no one goes. We found a lake and a Sandy beach but I was hyperventilating cause this was an isolated area and anything could happen so I managed to backtrack us until we got back to the park road. But it was borderline scary, I can’t imagine a whole ass forest. This is why I won’t go camping.
You are lucky.. some disappeared even in a plantation or orchard. There are cases in my places where some disappeared never to be found again like running a marathon in a well guided trail in the middle of the jungle.
When I was 14 I got lost in the woods for a full night, was able to get out by noon the next day. Ended up on the other side of town then I entered in.
As a seasoned backpacker I cringe when I see unprepared people wandering off the trail. No water, no extra clothing or rain gear, no food, no good sense. I was on a midnight group hike up Hawk Mountain that included two ditzy coeds wearing shorts, tank tops, and sandals who were unprepared for the temperature to go from 80 to 45 degrees during a light rain. Not even a sweatshirt or a sweater between them. They would have died of exposure if people with them hadn't been prepared. We had three tarps between us, plus extra articles of clothing, and a way to heat water and for hot beverages and soup. I had rain pants and a poncho and I was toasty warm. If not for the prepared members of the group they might not have made it that night.
When I was 12 I took a hike in the forest of the San Geronimo Valley, Northern California. Someone told me "If you hear pigs snorting ahead of you, climb a tree otherwise wild boar will tear you to shreds." So there was a pine tree that I climbed probably 20 feet up next to me when I heard a pack of wild boar race down the path ahead of me. While I prayed for my survival in the tree, the boar were running in circles sniffing the ground and they never looked up. They never looked up. Forty five minutes later I climbed down and ran home.
I got lost when was 9 years old around 08:00 am Eastern Ethiopia 🇪🇹 and kept running around in a forest 🌳 in the next 10 hours until I met people around sunset. I had no survival tips. I guess I was one lucky or unlucky bastard whichever way you look at it. I am now 28 years old so looking back I could have done better but then I was just a child. The Good Samaritan who found me brought me back home next day around noon after spending the night with his family because apparently we were so far away from where my family lived that they could not believe I travelled that far in such short time on foot as a kid. It was more like a marathon 😂😂😂😂

How to survive:
Don't wander off the hiking trail
Make sure your phone is 40% charged or more
If you see anything intresting like mushrooms, remember it.
If you wanna wandwer off the hiking trail, always stay in a straight line. With ur back to the hiking trail. when u wanna go back just turn around and walk back.
As a werewolf this would not be a problem for me.
