@@freaky3418 Having played both I'd say yeah, Dauntless is easier by miles in certain aspects. All aspects if we're talking Old World MH. But that hasn't kept me from enjoying it's game mechanics, the different systems and the behemoths alongside MHW. If you can play both, give both a try. Even if MHW has an edge personal preference is still a thing, you don't loose anything from trying Duantless and it's unique enough to be fun on it's own
Right i played mhw about a week after making this comment and can safely say now that monster Hunter is one of my favorite games and is definitely more well rounded as a game, and can be casual when you get a bit later in the game and aren’t one shot by all the monsters

I just got into the game. less than 24hrs ago and im level 7 or 8. what tips can you give to a new guy like me who runs keyboard and mouse to play? what are the go to weapons and how do I progress. I play on PC under the name COEFOR. I know nobody in the dauntless community so any hints, tips and assistance would be very helpful

I would agree with a lot of it, but argue that a shock striker build or chain blades build will get you a lot of bang for your buck. While teams often forget the power of shock, groups or individuals using shock as well as stagger have an opportunity to incapacitate most behemoths and open large windows for extra damage. While strikers are very powerful, the mobility and speed of chain blades can make for some of the easiest hunts in Dauntless.
The hellion and riftstalker unique effects are very comparable on most of the weapons, the key difference in them being hellion effect tends to start off with a tad higher dps and fall down, whereas the riftstalker effect starts a tad slower. Over the course of 100,000 damage, this is about what you'd see from each weapon (crits being a non-factor): Hammer: Rift = Hellion Strikers: Rift = Hellion (Both of these were within 10 damage per second) Axe: Rift > Hellion Repeaters: Hellion (Searing Prism) > Rift (Eclipse Prism) Pike: Hellion > Rift Chain Blades: Hellion > Rift Sword depends on the mod/playstyle: Whistling Blade, Repeating Elements spam: Hellion > Rift Momentum Pommel, Triple Elements spam: Rift > Hellion Overall, Whistling Blade Repeating Elements spam slightly edges the Momentum Pommel, Triple Elements spam, when at the exact same perk eco. Triple Elements has room for 2 additional offensive perks, where it can then slightly edge Repeating Elements theoretically.
This may be a dumb question but outside of an discipline iceborne build, is there no place for cunning in normal play? I thought the crit chance complimented the chainblades attack speed while the extra crit damage would be beneficial with the serrated mod for extra damage as well, i say if it has a place after i have made sure to have full 6+berserker, overpower, evasive fury, predator and 3+ rage hunter /conduit
discipline and iceborne have nothing to do with cunning. Cunning is not a reliable dps boost, but if you're grinding out a good trial time, if you get lucky enough it's useful. Through the course of standard gameplay though, it doesn't help much, even with the chain blades serrated blades mod. That's cause it's only a 5% chance for the mod to give you that extra damage.
Amazing what a difference a new cell and a month can make. This is largely flipped now, with high hp builds being the meta, with 100% crit rates, using skarn weapons. (Though low hp builds are still fairly popular and easily keep up.)
I think that you missed levels make a huge diffrence or did last time i played as it didn't matter the build if you couldn't get to the high enough level yet due too challenges than you were pretty screwed on much harder monsters. If you were maxed than you were good.
I'm sorry but I hope not many people watch this till I use what I've learnt here to get champion armour unlocked. ....then I hope you get as many subscribers as possible
U can get the 2 of those through the Trials, for the blue one u have to buy it in Lady Luck's Trials Shop, and for the golden one u have to be a trials champions
This was before the reforged update, which changed the way power calculation is structured. We are weaker now, but not exactly to the degree of over 200 power, since power itself just works differently now. Finishing an escalation used to give 50 power towards every game mode, so once terra escalation came out we had 760 power everywhere.

tbh its a better game in every way imagineable its just that this one is much easier

very detailed vid, this deserves views. is torg > thrax for cb's/pike and thrax > torg for every other weapon correct?
