    I was very confused about your comments about ‘Only Human’ not having an author listed because you sounded so genuine (to start with at least). Then I went to look at my copy and I understood what you did there. 😄
    In other comments… I loved how the series references back to one of these books. It shows Russel’s acknowledgement of the importance of the books during the wilderness years. I wish they’d done more of this.

    Re-watching series 1 currently and I forgot how brooding and just that little bit more mature series 1 was before series 2 went full on 'children's show' so the gritty and 'grown-up' realism of Winner Takes All satisfies me and really connects it to the TV stories.

    I am Russian who lives in Russia all of his lives and I also found the names in 'The Deviant Strain' unconventional.
    Also, Tardis apparently translates Russian language to English with a cringey parody of 'slight Russian accent'. Why would she give an accent to people? We don't know, but you sound like an American.
    But if you accept stupid stereotyping, the book is really well-written and mysterious.

    Did you really just deny the existence of Gareth Roberts because he said a few things about trans people that you didn't like? I don't agree with him either, but I hope I'm not petty enough to cancel someone because their opinions are different to mine. It comes across as immature, frankly.

    • @SavageBroadcast
      @SavageBroadcast 3 года назад +7

      I think all the abuse transpeople face goes a little beyond a 'difference of opinion': look at the laws being passed in Republican states as one big example. This isn't a 'ketchup or mustard' question.

      @@SavageBroadcast I'm not saying it is a ketchup or mustard question. What I am saying is that to pretend someone doesn't exist because you don't agree with them is childish. I have friends and family that I don't agree with; in fact, vehemently disagree with at times. However, my love for them goes deeper than that.
      When it comes to policies surrounding these issues, I agree that's absolutely abhorrent. However, that's in the hands of the policy makers who are clearly ignorant of the facts. As is Gareth Roberts, but his opinions don't affect policy. It's up to people like us to explain why their views are damaging rather than shutting them down because of them.
      One last thing: I can guarantee that a view you hold today which seems perfectly harmless at the moment will be considered problematic (a dreadful word) in 10 year's time. Such is the way of the world, sadly.
