  • John Grant Yusak was evicted from his home in June and slept in his truck in a Walmart parking lot while he searched for other options. After his vehicle was impounded, Yusak said he's spent nights on buses and even in a storage locker to avoid going to an emergency homeless shelter.

      if some one, who disagree with what i said, just take some time and learn little bit more about homelessness - for me, what i see on youtube "about this", it is simply depressing how government make "all things" worse and worse. And money "from budget" just disappear and every move of government make "all things" even worse and worse. "Amazing"🤐

      Our property values have been intentionally inflated by increased immigration and not building enough homes and infrastructure to support it.

    A few years back in Calgary, 'tiny homes' were constructed for military veterans. These homes, complete with a kitchen, toilet, and shower, are small but livable. How about you do long distance trucking for a living for a year? Your living space is guaranteed and is part of your pay, utilities are paid for except your cellphone, the pay is very decent if you are willing to make the miles and there is always a demand for committed drivers. That would be my choice if I found myself homeless and jobless again in Alberta, which I was for two weeks many moons ago

      @freddexta3363 Would love to but I had a colored young life , was on the street from 13 going forward I've had jobs and have done training in different things but with my past driving is not exactly in my cards. I have lots of warehouse experience and forklift, fall arrest and so on but I've only been through grade 10 . I would look into upgrading my education if it wasn't so expensive because the only funds I have now or even when I have work is needed to live and try and save for something maybe a home someday , or a chance to create my own chance .
      Does that make sense ?
      And yes the weather is not looking too great this week :( . It snowed last night .
      If anyone reading knows any places hiring in the Calgary area I'm all ears .
      I do thank you for your suggestion though and totally agree we have a constant need for more drivers that was a really good suggestion ty.

    • @freddexta3363
      @freddexta3363 7 месяцев назад

      @@Herrmdogg403 Thanks for your reply. You state that you only have a grade 10 formal education. That is plenty enough to get a drivers license and trucking would also get you a house, or at least shelter, negating the need for you having to pay for your own. Again, your utilities are paid, no property taxes or maintenance expenses like my family and I have, no insurance premium bills, no yard upkeep expenses. You pay income tax, cpp and EI premiums and your groceries, that's it. Do that for a year and walk away with 50 grand after deductions, with your head held high and not owing anyone a dime. Remember, excuses are the sticks that build the house of failure, and a year goes by just as fast whether you are working or not. You have nothing to lose by going this route. Unless there is some legal reasons why you can't possibly get a class 1 license or you have a criminal record that is so bad that no transport company would hire you, I honestly don't see the problem.

    More housing is not the solution. "More housing" is going just stay in words, there will not be enough housing even if the housing do increase a little over time. But it takes a long time to get "more housing", it might take forever. By contrast, people are in emergency housing need now and right away, people are dying,suffering and aging day by day without a place to call home. So "More housing" is not resolving the urgency of the need. The solution is Cheap Tiny Shelter/Cabin/Homes/Boxes/outhouse with the freedom of being able to create heat for winter, it can be burning wood, propane, gas. People who is in need of a home will accept a basic box/shelter/container. Tiny cheap shelters/homes are easy and fast to build with nowadays technology. It's cheap to build and it's easy to make make it fast and quick for everyone to be able to have one in time. It's more realistic and more likely to happen, and quicker to resolve the emergency of homelessness that is happening right now.
    Cheap Tiny Shelters/Cabins/Homes/Boxes/outhouses with the permit to make heat is the solution to the emergency of homeless. It only take a short time to make them in quantity. In no time, all people in need have a place to call home and stay safe.
    Canada is cold. Allow people to have small cheap shelters to ease the emergency in need of home and safety, please
