Hey Gina, I just wanted to thank you again for these demos. I live in Canada so the price of the Kidken was just under $300 (Canadian) I purchased the Shernbao on a black Friday sale for $79 Canadian. WOW, am I ever impressed with it! Used it for the first time yesterday. I dried my 7 mo BRT boy in under 45 minutes... on my kitchen floor lol. He was so very comfortable with it, he literally stood (or sat) there the whole time, no restraints. It's powerful, easy to use and not terribly loud. Thanks again for all of your wonderful videos. Now to watch your BRT pet groom again and attempt it. Fingers crossed!! lol 😃🤪
Yay, Melanie, I am so thrilled to hear it! And honestly, although the Kidken is fancier and quieter, the Shernbao is definitely the right choice for your big, hairy boy. I am so impressed with it that I now use the Shernbao for all my housecalls and as a backup in my salon. So glad you are happy with the purchase and that the video helped! This is a big part of why we do what we do, so thank you for validating!!! 🙏💕
'non-grippy thing' haha. You are just a sweetheart, Gina. Binge-watching your channel as we just built our kennel for our 15 dogs and I'm trying to learn grooming. You don't by chance ever groom any long-hair dachshunds do you? That's what we have and unfortunately all I can find are buzz cuts for them which damages their coat. I'm trying to learn how to trim long-haired dogs. Oh well, maybe someone will put one out there someday. Really learning so much from you and just love your disposition. Wonderful channel!
Hi Kelly, welcome to the channel, and thank you for your kind comment! Wow, good for you learning how to groom, esp with 15 dogs! 🤪 Gosh, I don't have a LH Doxie in my client roster at the moment, but luckily it's not a difficult breed to groom. You are right, cutting the body coat is no good! The only clipping you'll be doing is sanitary trim (privates and butt) and paw-pads. Some light scissoring can be done to neaten the paws and furnishings. But mostly you are brushing, combing and deshedding. And if your pups have that fuzzy undercoat that kind of pops up on Doxie jackets, I clean that up by manually plucking using finger cots on thumb and forefinger. . Haven't used this brand, but it seems similar to what I use. Hope that helps, and so glad you like the channel! 🥰 amzn.to/4cLdPMk
@@GinasGrooming Super helpful, Gina!! You're awesome. Added those to my Amazon wishlist lol. I am subscribed to you now and look forward to learning more
Hello Gina, you have a new subscriber here, thank you so much for the video I was hunting for a home dryer to use on my shih tzu so I can dry him faster. I used one of your links I hope that helps you. 👍😁
@MunchkinMoD , thank you so much! And I'm so glad the video helped! Both dryers will work wonderfully for your shih tzu - happy grooming and thanks for joining! 😍
Great question!! Yes, they blow amazingly, and yes, they are up to the task of even large, thick-coated dogs. But (and I tested this out myself), they are just not rugged enough for a true salon environment. I only field-tested the Shernbao, and I will say the motor stayed solid with no burn-out, but I did damage the circuit board when a dog kicked it accidently. The chassis of these home dryers are plastic, as opposed to metal that you'd see on pro dryers, so they don't really offer protection from the unpredictable nature that you'll see in a pro salon. But I still stand behind both products for home use. The plastic chassis makes them light and easy to store, and they really do pack an impressive punch. They're just a bit too fragile than what is required for pros. If you need a pro dryer at a comparable price, take a look at the Flying Pig: amzn.to/3Wravi2. Hope that helps and thanks for your question!
Thanks for the comparison, Gina! We're considering a blower to help with deshedding an Australian Shepherd (double coat). It seems like the Shernbao has better power, but are there any other accessories or techniques you'd recommend? A different kind of blower or vacuum that is better suited?
Hi there! Aw, I love Aussies! And yes, you are so smart to look for a blower - that is one of the best ways to de-shed a thick double coat, for sure (pair that with a slicker brush and a metal comb finish, and now you are at pro level!) The Shernbao has very high air velocity (impressive!), so out of the two, for your job, that's what I would choose. However, I have to be 100% honest that I am going through a bit of an issue with my unit right now. I used the Shernbao as a backup during my xmas rush last week, and it didn't make it. The variable speed option shorted, so I am now working with Shernbao support (they are being wonderful, fyi) to see what is going on. I just wanted to give you full disclosure, but up until this point, I was using it for my housecalls with great results. If you are looking for a reasonably priced professional grade dryer, you can also look at the Flying Pig: amzn.to/3GMN4ZT. I have one unit that I've used in the salon for nearly 3 years, and I just ordered another one yesterday so that I have two solid dryers I can use simultaneously and get through some of my hairy beasts, lol. Hope that helps and good luck! Thanks for your comment! 😍
@@GinasGrooming I appreciate the insight - we're probably going to use it on one dog every couple of weeks, so we'll weigh the cost. If you ever get around to doing a video specifically on Aussies we'll be there! Most videos talk about very detailed techniques instead of overall shape (not looking for show, just 'clean' and breed-appropriate). I watched several of your videos today, and you've got a great presentation style that really suits us.
@@thevalentines6030 Thank you so much for the kind words! 🙏 And did you say Aussie content, lol? Hi, although the Kidken could do the job, the Shernbao packs a stronger punch and blows the most air, in my (rather impressed) observation. Note of caution and advice: I love the Shernbao, but full disclosure is that I killed mine (after 3 months of being used wonderfully for my housecalls) after having no choice but to use it way too hard over the xmas rush in a professional capacity. We are talking 6-8 hours of daily usage, getting kicked and dropped a number of times - and the little guy pooped out after day 3. So my advice is: get the additional protection through Amazon if you purchase it. I did not, and I could have gotten it replaced easy-peasy (and treated the new one in the appropriate manner, lol). Even with this experience, I would definitely give you a thumbs up that this little machine can tackle your GP with air-velocity that is very, very close to a true pro machine, albeit not as rugged. Hope that helps, and happy grooming! 🐾 (P.S. For not too much more of an investment, you can go full pro with the Flying Pig, which is heavier, heftier, encased in metal - vs. plastic. I currently use 2 in my salon, and my 1st guy is going on his 3rd year with no issues, just fyi! amzn.to/3vQxedU)
Hi there, both dryers would work wonderfully for your Spoo, but in terms of sheer power, the Shernbao packs a bigger punch. I don't know if u follow the channel, but we are giving away the Kidken dryer in a contest, entries by 12/13/23. Entry form at ginasgrooming.com if interested! Good luck and thanks!
Hi Kaniela! Thanks for your question! The Flying Pig is a true professional pet dryer and worth the money if you are planning to use it daily for hours on end. The Shernbao is great, but really I would say more targeted for home groomers (even though it is impressively powerful for a little guy). The Flying Pig is bigger, heavier, sturdier, but not as compact and packable as the Shernbao (I use the little guy for my housecalls a few times a month). My big K9-II dryer died over the xmas rush last week, and I can't afford another $600 dryer right at this moment, so I ordered another Flying Pig from Amazon earlier today. The one already in my salon has been in use for 2.5 years, not a single problem. Hope that helps and good luck! 🐾

Hi Gina, why are these not considered for professional/business use? The seem to blow adequately...will the motor burn out perhaps?
