Eric Weinstein is easily one of the most interesting public figures today. He provides a much-needed rational perspective. This was a great discussion.

I feel like Eric is underrated within the IDW - he isn't flashy and is too polite to interrupt so people often miss just how balanced, intelligent, and thought-provoking he is.
Eric touches on the education issue while talking about TIM, he mentions that it may be subject to the same issues as the other three, but only because of the other three.
Nah. TIM controls our factual knowledge. Education doesn't (at least in the fields we're concerned about), there, social justice courses infect people's ability [how] to think in the first place. These are distinct problems.
THANK YOU BEN. I applaud you for diving head first into economics, regulation, and redistribution. This is what sense-making between the libertarian left and libertarian right needs to look like. Cheers!
This is literally the conversation I’ve been wanting to hear in the IDW more than any other. It was brilliant, and meaningful to the lives of apes in the real world. It’s time for the best of us progressives to awaken as left libertarians, calling out the bad actors among our own, and all of the real betrayals of our institutions. We need capitalism 2.0, more free that corporatism, more destributive than communism, and driven by unprofitable, unregulated and publically financed basic science research that will better us all. Our digital era was born on semiconductors that the government researched, and then the free market innovated on. We can do this.
AvenueSU unprofitable science? Isn’t profitable applied science the foundation of our technological revolutions? Capitalism 2.0 is free market capitalism with coherent consumerism, we control the corps with our money. All we need is the gov to let the people regulate rather than static asymmetrical interferences that are often misinformed. Stop crony capitalism by removing representative power and redirect it via popular vote. Corps then have to lobby/advertise the American people rather than wine and dine one person. Freedoms given to the people result in a higher nodal network with more feedback loops. Government interference is analogous to giving the human body a drug unaware of how exactly it works and the side effects. That is how most drugs are we do not understand the human body fully. The answers are not in drugs, but in a healthy lifestyle, and homeostasis of a System too complex for us to understand.

"[People] want to believe that at least the fictions that they are being fed are adult level." Brilliant line. I can see why people are so impressed with Weinstein #2. Weinstein #1 is, I think, even MORE amazing.
For the clearest, most insightful analysis of the social "justice" movement that I've come across, see m.ruclips.net/video/bz0oxIZ3xIg/видео.html ("Bret Weinstein, How the Magic Trick Is Done"). EVERY person who is concerned about this movement should listen to this talk.
Right? I think people fundamentally understand that there is a limit to describing things & that narrative & analogy & simplification are necessary lubricants between the hyper-intellectuals & the average population. It's just, don't lie to us, & treat us with respect that we can reasonably tell when we're being lied to.
Quite so. He *gets it*, and that's very rare among highly intelligent people in elitist circles. Nobody believes they must know everything with 100% truth. Especially the lower class. But they do need to believe that the managers sees them as people, that he cares, that he understands their concerns and that he has their best interests in mind. That, is *trust*.
Would love to see a three hour Sunday morning IDW Meet the Press-type show every week. Discussions like this need to be happening with more regularity.

Eric hits the nail on the head here. Giving a tag to this movement, involving intellectual thinkers that would otherwise not be associated, has given this movement legs. Long live its legacy.
Great show!! Being a conservative I didn't know how well I would take this interview. I'm still not a fan of Sam Harris and never will be but Eric is very interesting. Definitely going to follow him more!
Definitely one of the most fascinating and provocative of Ben’s Sunday interviews. But it needed to be longer!! Both of you raised so many interesting, subtle, and important issues that it got frustrating when, having raised one such issue, time constraints would force you to rush to something else. I get it that this show is supposed to be an hour long, but maybe when you have a guest like Weinstein on you could devote two successive weeks to the discussion. Anyway thanks for a very stimulating show, the first I’ve listened to twice in immediate succession.

You know what’s more annoying than the ads? People complaining about them. I guess the few minutes of inconvenience really displace the free and quality experience for some people. You know it rains at Disney World too? And people still enjoy it. Imagine that.
Ryan Baker They “should” be as Ben wants them to be- unless you’re siting that they are limiting his success. But I think he’s aware of the incessant complaints by now and he’s deciding that it’s his show. To keep complaining from here is juvenile.
Right? How do you get to episode 11 and still make a deal about it? Literally takes 2 minutes and sometimes they even bring it up in conversation. Also theyre not garbage ads, obviously products he endorses.
Man, you need to add on another hour to these shows Ben. Especially when you have on these kinds of people. Seriously? This was great. I mean really friggin' great. My favorite so far. Also, you did a really good job with the ads this time. Much better.
IDW in DAAAA HOUSE! You guys need a world tour... I'll be an unpaid roady .... Considering everyone's relative notoriety in their fields I can thiink of no better role models ! Keep the conversation going. You're def changing hearts and minds!
PezAnt Tree... A Facebook "getting to know you" post listed "Dream Job" and I decided "Water girl for the Intellectual Dark Web". That's a thing for a middle aged woman, right?
Great conversation, final moments where Ben is really happy and says he is always happy to see his friends and it cuts to Eric with a smile felt so genuine. Love to see a thriving friendship among intellectuals. Thanks for the thought food and inspiration.
I love when people like Eric get in front of Shapiro. I genuinely think Shapiro wants to be a beacon of truth and light in the world, but I feel that he sometimes slips into his own slightly alt-right echo chamber. These kind of interviews really bring out the best in Shapiro (in my super humble opinion), he's all discussion/curiosity and almost no narrative.
Stephen Henkel i don’t think you know what slightly alt right means, or know any of bens opinions compared to what the alt right version of that opinion would be. Watch his recent speeches on the alt right, it’s not even close
@@TheCalculatorGuy He is mainstream regardless of what you think or not. I have been watching him regularly for years. The moment you can't differentiate between the right and alt right you've lost. You call anyone and everyone alt right when you can't even define the term. You can't name a single one of Ben's position properly, yet you call him alt right. You can't name a single alt right position properly, yet you have the audacity to use that label. Well, fuck off, ctrl-lefty. I'd be nice to you but when you label someone alt right you've already been more offensive than any insult I could throw at you
I would like to see Eric create Prager U style videos (but much longer of course) to explain the economic problems he describes for the vast majority of us who need to start at the most basic level. And Ben, check out The Disappearance of Moral Knowledge by Dallas Willard and bring his students into the conversation. I appreciate the IDW but as a follower of Jesus, I see clearly that you are missing an important voice in your search for truth without the Christian perspective in your discussions. Jordan Peterson has certainly invited Christians into the discussion but he does not personally represent a Christ following (as opposed to Christian) worldview (which would be very "Jewish" when it comes to care of the poor.) And I think that the people at Reasons to Believe would be delighted with Eric's approach to science.
Melanie Fyock you could read a book on economics? Thomas Sowells Basic Economics is a good intro, then The housing boom and Bust is a short introduction into what is wrong with the current system.
This is one of the best Sunday specials so far. It's such a good conversation. To me it's a cry from humanity saying that we need to move forward into what we know is golden. Ben does a great job of showing how political differences get in the way of this by letting Eric speak about what is beyond the politics. Eventually I hope that these truly great people will result in a culture where they no longer have to defend themselves. Would you let your differences take you away from the great relationships you have in your own life?
I've been using the term "neo-McCarthyism of the left." I'm glad to see somebody else labeling this for what it is. Pre-millennial leftists were OUTRAGED over McCarthyism 1.0, and rightfully so. Version 2.0 is just as bad.
Out of Blue Pills On one hand, I like where you are going with this... On the other hand, now that the historical record is out, McCarthy 1.0 was actually quite naive about the extent of CPUSA influence in Hollywood and generally. His punishment for attempting to even expose the tip of the iceberg was, they made his very name synonymous with paranoia for generations hence. That is what real influence allows one to do. Stalin's Active Measures campaign was quite real and quite successfull. Their blacklist campaign was an order of magnitude larger than McCarthy's.
I feel like this needed to be a few hours longer to really get into a lot of these subjects. Maybe if time constraints limit you to an hour since you're so busy, possibly sticking to a single subject and doing a bit of a deeper dive.
Wow, this was truly great, i think we need much more of these system based conversation, it was amazing, please ben do more of these, eric weinstein is stellar, woa. Thank you ben, it was serious stuff, I wished you could have gone even more in depth. Now I am gonna go back to maths lol !

You know what’s more annoying than the ads? People complaining about them. I guess the few minutes of inconvenience really displace the free and quality experience for some people. You know it rains at Disney World too? And people still enjoy it. Imagine that.
Gary Grant seriously its like the end of the world to these people lol
Wraiths Blade Absolutely. It’s the kind of minuscule things that irritate folks when they don’t live a purpose.
Ryan Baker They “should” be as Ben wants them to be- unless you’re siting that they are limiting his success. But I think he’s aware of the incessant complaints by now and he’s deciding that it’s his show. To keep complaining from here is juvenile.
Gary Grant serious complaints about the ads are idiotic, but I very much enjoy all of the memes generated by them.
Right?
How do you get to episode 11 and still make a deal about it? Literally takes 2 minutes and sometimes they even bring it up in conversation. Also theyre not garbage ads, obviously products he endorses.
The Ben Shapiro Sunday special is a breath of fresh air! How desperately needed are conversations like this one!
Man, you need to add on another hour to these shows Ben. Especially when you have on these kinds of people. Seriously? This was great. I mean really friggin' great. My favorite so far. Also, you did a really good job with the ads this time. Much better.
I always look forward to Sunday Special and coffee Sunday morning. Love the variety of people and conversations. Highly recommended it.
Someone give Eric a show
Nobody "gave" Sam Harris, Dave Rubin or Sam Harris a show. They created their own.
Hope you've been checking out The Portal 👍
Eric keeps Ben on his toes. Love it.
IDW is cringy AF. Eric is trying to hijack a movement that started long before him. Typical lefty bullshit.
I'm down.
Great conversation, final moments where Ben is really happy and says he is always happy to see his friends and it cuts to Eric with a smile felt so genuine. Love to see a thriving friendship among intellectuals. Thanks for the thought food and inspiration.
Ben really does have the strangest, most obscure sponsors I've ever seen
Eric needs to be heard everyday!
Eric is among the most respect left-leaning thinkers out there. I can respect his message and arguments and am willing to hear him out.
Thank you Eric and Ben- fantastic discussion. The IDW is on the right track and I am in!
Alt right? Jesus, Ben is a mainstream conservative.
@@devmma8032
I don't think he's mainstream at all. The IDW is alternative, but not necessarily neo-nazi alternative.
I'd be nice to you but when you label someone alt right you've already been more offensive than any insult I could throw at you
Appreciate Ben Shapiro and Eric Weinstein! Awesome gentlemen.
What a fantastic idea!
He's on BigThink
Ben's had a lot of awesome guests. I've watched them all from the beginning, but Eric is the best. Hands down.
Eric's brilliant
This is what makes the internet great, the ability to be a fly on the wall and hear a conversation between true intellectuals.
NEED MORE WEINSTEIN! Best episode yet
I surrender. I've finally subscribed to this channel. Amazing, insightful convo.
I love the random ads. Its funny after a while
I somehow got an ad in the middle of Ben's ad. XD
i know its weird, but now i do feel the urgency to get life insurance
Can't believe I missed this one for so long? Wonderful. Thank you both.
Good to see Ben taking all the feedbacks and comments from the previous Sunday specials and subsequently stopping this constant nodding, uhu uhu etc
SHAH MIAH now if only he’d start pre-recording the ads instead of interrupting a productive conversation...
This is the best one yet.
Steven Hicks next, please. His assessment of postmodernism and communism are brilliant.
Martian Anthropologist, OK, so change my last sentence to, "Version 2.0 is worse."
Out of Blue Pills 😁
So... Someone who was trying to expose a very real enemy,. ...that was tarred as
Wonderful discussion. Thanks for having Eric on, he is amazing to listen to, very exciting!!
I feel like this needed to be a few hours longer to really get into a lot of these subjects. Maybe if time constraints limit you to an hour since you're so busy, possibly sticking to a single subject and doing a bit of a deeper dive.
Agreed!
Eric's economic ideas are fantastic. And the 4 things to change are right on point. Great conversation.
Wow, a lot of sense on display here
This has been the best Sunday Special so far, and that's saying something cause all the others were mindblowing!
I loved this episode.
Probably my favorite Sunday Special so far.
Wow, this was truly great, i think we need much more of these system based conversation, it was amazing, please ben do more of these, eric weinstein is stellar, woa. Thank you ben, it was serious stuff, I wished you could have gone even more in depth. Now I am gonna go back to maths lol !
One of the best.
I'm in New York and usually get up at 6. Since you pre-record all of these, any chance you could schedule the upload around 03:00 PST so we early birds can listen while we get ready? Love you anyway lulz :D
Ben is by far the respectful host I've ever listened to. It's so obvious that he disagrees strongly with Weinstein but allows him the space to fully flesh out his ideas. Great!
