    Nardwuar vs Questlove are the best and most detailed learning experiences out of all his interviews

      I can say I've learned a bunch during all of Questlove's streams during the last few days. He's a good teacher, on par with KRS.

    I saw The Roots live some time in the 90's in some funky little club in Atlanta. I had a few beers and puffed a few blunts and was ready to take a nap. Then, Brother Question hit that first downbeat on his drum kit and zapped me back to life. It was like voodoo or something. I had no control over my body. Despite being very tired his drumming infused me with a burst of energy that carried through out the entire hour and a half long performance. I could not not stop moving and dancing. And for the entire show, Questolove had his head tilted to the sky, with that huge afro pick in his hair, drumming away. Like he was communing with the gods of drumming. It was surreal. There must have been some primordial rhythmic connection going on. I've never felt anything like it before or since.

    I remember a while back, my dad took me to go see The Roots in Orlando at the HoB. It confused me because he wasn't really into hiphop from what I knew(I was 14 or 15 at the time) he likes Metallica, Iron Maiden etc. but Im glad he took me, It put into perspective "real recognize real" for me. Great music is great music & if youre a fan of great music, genres start to blend & become less important than people make them out to be. plus I met Quest at a record store before the show which was dope

    I have to be honest, ?uestlove is probably the coolest man on Earth. The Roots are one of the most consistent and groundbreaking acts in hip-hop and it's refreshing to know one of the masterminds behind them is actually so human, yet godlike at the same time.

    Artist that haven't heard of the guy are definitely spooked, but if your a artist you do research and I'm sure after some of his interviewee's watch his work afterward, they probably can understand he is one of those real legit 'nerds" who naturally have awkward social skills because learning is the number one goal, and i think most artist can find respect for that in the end, because that takes real courage, and courage is what got big name people where they are.

  • @khorijwilson
    @khorijwilson 12 лет назад +2

    I think once he started actually giving the vinyls away he got much props too. Specially in these later videos, dude is giving away gold in this digital day and age. I was fortunate enough to know a older DJ who is a collector and artist himself and showed me the glory of vinyl, Machine Gun Kelly didn't even know what to play his records on. Nardwuar is doing a good job of passing down some core elements of hip hop despite his awkwardness. You have to respect that

  • @khorijwilson
    @khorijwilson 12 лет назад +2

    sometimes personalities clash, his personality is why you watch all these. Regardless if he makes things awkward, the tension makes for an entertaining video which makes for more views which give him more popularity and legend amongst the artists. Surely, rappers talk to other rappers about these interviews and as he starts to interview the younger generation of rappers you can tell his personality has truly turned him into a legend now.

    so don't watch them. people love nardwuar for a bundle of reasons. myself, i like his approach. it's unconventional, and often very likable. he's also very learned in both the culture of the genre of music that applies to his interview subject, as well as the interview subject himself. most entertainment journalists will either ask repetitive questions pertinent to their body of work, or gossip bullshit. nard does neither.

It's not like a ordinary wack interview, he digs deep in the artists history on a human level and on a artistic level. If you hate on Nardwuar, you hate on the culture of diggin' and doing research, which is ground-elements IN hip-hop ... I understand that he can be annoying for some people, but he's a creative character ..
