    Chorus:
To prove that I love you
    Because I believe in you
    Summer skies, stars are falling
    All along the injured coast
    And if I have money
    If I have children
    Summer skies, stars are falling
    All along the injured coast
    Oo-wah oo-wah doo-wop a doo-wah
Summer skies, the stars are falling
    All along the injured coast
    Oo-wah oo-wah doo-wop a doo-wah
Summer skies, the stars are falling

I can never get enough of the warm and dreamy ambience that Vincent Nguini's guitar passages project on this song. The backup singers are a tremendous asset in complementing Simon's quietly pleasing voice. I've treasured this and the entire "The Rhythm of the Saints" record since October 1990.

Dear Paul, I owe you a great deal. In 2016 my best friend was into Graceland the album and eventually turned me onto your music. I had just graduated high school and was ready to move on, you know that feeling of wanting to start fresh. We were sitting in the middle of a back courtyard at an elementary school pounding Budweisers laughing up a storm at dusk. I’ll never forget the absolute glee, which is forever associated with a tone you set for me that lasted 2 of my best years. It’s personal yeah, but it’s one of my most potent memories, the summer that followed, what I learned about myself. This song in particular somehow highlighted and practically mused the forging of an eternal bond. I know now who my real friends are, rather, my brothers. When I hear your music I’m reminded of brotherhood.

Thanks for uploading this outstanding work by Paul Simon. I'd forgotten about it (kinda) until I heard the Paul Simon interview with Howard Stern yesterday. Simon is a genius, and this is one of my favorite albums of his.

For a while I made a hobby of trying to transcribe Vincent's guitar work on this song. It took me a long time to get it (it's on UG now). And I have to say, his composition is GOD TIER. This is my favorite song of all time. I wish I could have told him how much joy it's brought me.

I worked with Roy Halee / Paul Simon one of the weeks on SNL back when Rhythm came out. All the drumming and percussion were fantastic of course, but at one point Roy turned to me and said, “It’s all about the guitars.” That was how I felt and apparently so did others.

Apparently Paul Simon wanted this tune to be the opening track on the Rhythm Of The Saints, but Warner Brothers intervened and mixed up the order to give "The Obvious Child" (the lead single) first place. I much prefer this one as the opener. It eases the listener into the more intricate and emotionally watercolored aesthetic that he was going for with this album, following the exuberant Graceland, and its just such a beautiful song - one that I return to again and again, year after year.

Never again would the highlights of your sadness eclipse into a baren market where children beg for money for their weekend church shoes...should you ever need a pilgrim representing the shadows of your shattered heart I am there to bear the responsibility...Always will I be the rock where your inhibitions break against the sandy contempt of past inadequacies...One day your anger over slightly browned sandwiches will manifest into quarrels beneath the sheets....
I have always loved Paul Simon, but his metaphors have always been so intricate.

ChatGPT said to me: "Comparing Paul Simon's albums "Graceland" and "The Rhythm of the Saints" to the Old and New Testaments is an interesting analogy. "Graceland" incorporates diverse musical influences, reflecting a broad exploration similar to the Old Testament's rich narratives. In contrast, "The Rhythm of the Saints" is more introspective, akin to the reflective nature of the New Testament."

Graceland / The Rhythm of the Saints is like the Bible: The Old Testament / The New Testament, like the population explosion / the population implosion. That are the deep language messages.
