Let's Play Pokemon HeartGold SoulSilver Episode 7: Fighting Flyer With Fire

In this episode, we finally go into the Violet City Gym to take on & defeat Falkner, the elegant master of Flying Pokémon. But for some reason doesn't use a Johto Pokemon on his team?! This is a theme that plagues most if not all of Johto unfortunately... As for Pokemon caught from the Pokewalker, they include Wobbuffet, Oddish, Sunkern, Wooper, Slowpoke, Staryu & Poliwag. I even take a cheeky visit to the Ruins of Alph to get Unown forms A, B, C, D & E. My Chikorita even evolved into Bayleef when I beat Falkner!

General Advice: When facing Falkner, it's highly recommended to bring a Mareep into battle since it's an electric type. You can get one as an egg from Primo, or you can catch it on Route 32 as there's a patch of grass you can access before getting the badge. You can get away with using Chikorita when facing Pidgey as it doesn't have a flying move, but when Pidgeotto comes out, watch out! Pidgeotto knows gust which can really harm your Chikorita. On top of that, it also knows Roost, allowing it to heal itself, so make sure your Electric or Rock type is trained well enough.
