- On January 26th, 2024 the original Country Bear Jamboree at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World will be closing for an extended refurbishment to welcome a brand new show. The animatronic show opened in 1971 and will be undergoing changes to bring a new Country Bear Show to Walt Disney World. Opening in Summer 2024, the Country Bear Musical Jamboree will be a tribute to the musical revues in Nashville. I really hope that they give the animatronics the love they deserve during the refurb. - a lot of the old animatronics (and some of the newer ones) have been neglected the past couple of years, so hopefully the bears will come back looking better than ever.
They look incredible now!
This is a very sad moment in history. The Country Bear Jamboree has been my favorite thing at Disney since the first time I ever went.

This is not the first or even third time they have changed the songs in country bear jamboree… it’s part of the show. All will be ok.
I am so unbelievably sad to see this show go. I know it’s just the soundtrack but it’s so special. Warmed my heart to see so many people in the audience showing love to this show. I’ll miss it terribly.

I don't think the show is really going away; in the past, it has been re-made several times with the same characters, just singing different songs, and renamed the Country Bear Christmas Hoedown and the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown, before being turned back.
Just imagine how revolutionary this was for its time. Imagine stepping in to this show on opening day… fantasy turning in to a reality.
As sad as it is to see this version of the show go, this is not the "true" Country Bear Jamboree; this is the watered down version that since 2012 shortened the show but came at the expense of much of its charm. I do not deny it is sad to see the original version go... but the true original version has been gone for over a decade

Another piece of Disney history I'll never get to see in person. That being said, I can't imagine how difficult these units are to maintain after such a long time of performances.

I remember seeing the Country Bear Jamboree at Disneyland just after it opened in 1972. What a cool show.
A sad day. I grew up with the one at Disneyland. I’m just glad my kids got to see it at Disney World a few years ago before it gets changed.
Fun fact: the bison on the wall is voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft, longtime voice of Tony the Tiger and singer of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”. The host bear Henry is voiced by Peter Reneday, best known as Splinter in the original TMNT toon.

The singing voice of Big Al was the late, great singer Tex Ritter. Big Al’s chuckle was done by Thurl Ravenscroft, who voiced Buff the American Bison in the show itself.

Thanks for posting the full show of the Country Bear Jamboree! It's not my favorite attraction at Magic Kingdom and the animatronics are creepy, but it's unique and a fun musical experience! I'm also going to miss "Blood on the Saddle."

The Japanese version of the Country Bear Jamboree is still in operation, along with its two spinoffs, Christmas Special and Vacation Hoedown.
This was one of my first shows at Disney. While I understand why they are refurbishing it i will still miss this version. I will especially miss liver lips mcgraw.
I hope Tokyo's ``Country Bear Theater'' and ``Splash Mountain'' remain forever.

But they are requesting it not closing it permanently or making a brand, completely new venue (like Splash Mountain) correct? I think with the way Disney seems to operate we are "lucky" they lasted that long. We went to WDW in 1976 and 1977. I was in my early teens, my brother a pre-teen and my sister was 6 & 7. I understand the only orginal rides still existing from then was the Jamboree, It's a Small World, Space Mountain, Jungle Cruise, the Carousel of Progress (which I loved, especially the last song in the last scene) & The Haunted Mansion. Sometimes pple go for the nostalgia not everything needs to be super high tech, though it was for it's time period. I want to see WDW again but with all the turmoil it went through & I understand the guest experience has degraded alot & it has almost become price prohibitive... I haven't gone with my kids & Grandsons yet, thought the two youngest went two years ago & their fav ride was Space Mountain! They went in between their 6 & 7th bdays ( they are 1 yr & 2 days apart)! They also went to Disneyland with their mother's family for 1 day last Spring they said they hated it & were not impressed with WDW either. To me that is so sad. It was a family friendly kid oriented place. I wanted my first honeymoon at the Comtempoary Resort that was dream...it so sad now to me, that some kids feel that way.

I am so sad Country Bear Jamboree closed it was my fav ride. every time my cousin went on the haunted mansion I would go see the country bear jamboree.
I grew up going to Disney on a regular basis. This was my favorite. I am 56 and I remember the words to most of the songs. I miss this.

It sucks that it’s going down just before my birthday trip. I really wanted to see it again, and show it to my mom. She hasn’t seen it since she was a kid at Disneyland, and now it’ll never be the same again
I have to wonder if the "update" to the show is really going to be a permanent change. If all they do is refurbish the animatronics and change stuff on the surface, then theoretically the original show could return at any time.
After all, that's what happened with The Enchanted Tiki Room... Though hopefully it won't take a fire in the theater for that to happen.

I miss it already (the Florida version at least; I have been missing the California version since 2001) . I'm glad I got to see it the 3 times I've been to Disney World.

Thank you for this high definition video of the show. I am sad to see this version of the bears go, but glad that they are getting an update and not being trashed for something else entirely. I am hopeful for the update. I love this show and these characters so much. Hopefully we can get more merch once the new version opens.

At least the bears will still be there this summer, just singing new songs, wearing new costumes and having new voices. But I know lots of people are upset about the change. Keep in mind that sometimes change can be good! I'm sure the Country Bear Musical Jamboree will be great.
I rode it multiple times today and the energy in the room was palpable. It’s a beloved attraction that shouldn’t be touched. I know Walt said the parks would constantly be changing, but it seems like every year we lose another classic.

First, the Disneyland Resort version of the Country Bear Jamboree is gone for good and now the Walt Disney World version is gone for good as well.

I'm speaking to you from 2067 and can confirm it's back at Disneyland and the original show is alive and well at WDW. The parks are stuck in the 1980s in 2067.

At Disneyland Anaheim, this was an attraction I always looked forward to as a child and teen and even as an adult. When it was removed I was very sad. It was replaced by a very lame Winnie the Pooh ride. Years later we went to Florida Disney where we got to experience once again I was very appreciative. Last year we went to Tokyo Disney where they still have it but 90% of it is in Japanese (as it should be I guess). This is sad that it’s being taken from our childhood. Shows how money driven Disney is now. But at least we can still relive it on RUclips.

I wouldn't be upset about this change if I had confidence that Disney could actually improve on it. But, let's be honest here, lately all the "new and improved" and "for a modern audience" bullshit has lead to serious downgrades. For example, they ripped Epcot apart for a glorified Starbucks garden and a walk through attraction that is ALREADY broken. Current Imagineers just can't stack up to the ones of the past and they have done nothing to prove that they can make anything worthy of Disney IMO.

While the show did decline a lot after they shortened the show and needed another upgrade, the fact that this new show will just be them playing Disney songs with one song from the original show being kept is such a piss poor excuse to include Disney ips into the park

Why is there audio missing? Some of the ends of songs, the little bear's squeqker the first time. I memorized this when I was six years old...i have the sound track put out in the 70s. It is heartbreaking that this is ending.

They're not getting rid of it. They are updating it where they'll start singing Disney songs in several styles of Country. Which is honestly smart. It's been awhile since those animatronics have been touched up and given some love. Like Splash Mountain, the core stuff is going to be there. Just changed.
That being said, I agree with the Hall of Presidents. I think they need to change it to something that all people would like but still be history. Like do a couple of scenes of Hamilton with an animatronic Lin Manuel Miranda lol
This version of the Country Bear Jamboree has only one theater compared to the Tokyo Disneyland version and the defunct Disneyland California version which have two theaters each instead of one.

@@robertpehatcher968there’s been a Vacation version which was supposed to be permanent, there was also a Christmas version, the bear original songs will return eventually.
Farewell country bear jamboree you will always be my favorite show at the magic kingdom and liver lips will always be my favorite country bear
I’m glad they are putting money into keeping this around even if it will have new songs. I think this is a necessary change to keep this up with modern standards, as much as people hate to hear it some of the things in the show are outdated and this is a way to preserve the attraction for future generations. Also this opens up the door for it to change again in the future.
I will sure miss the old Country Bear jamboree, let's keep in mind it's not going anywhere forever it's the soundtrack changing. Can't wait to see it after the referb!!!

Terrance or Shaker’s voice didn’t quiver when he was singing in this version of the Country Bear Jamboree, but his voice did quiver when he sang Blue Christmas on the Country Bear Christmas Special attraction and Two Different Worlds on the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown attraction.
That’s because most of the characters personalities and voices were changed in 1984-86

I so wish I could have seen this show in its glory days. I love all the songs (yes, even the "controversial" ones), and the characters are so loveable! I hope the refurb goes well, the new songs are just as good as the originals, and the Bear Band gets its much-needed attention and are all fixed up in proper working order.

I have a feeling that updating this show will be a bad idea. The Country Bears singing Disney songs instead of these classic old songs just doesn't sound right for them. Also, changing Liver Lips McGrowl's name? What's that about?!

Thurl Ravenscroft, who voiced his character Buff the American Bison, has recently passed away in 2005, which means his character has to be recast by a new voice actor.

I'm so sad this show is being updated. Theres something so kitschy about this version, and I absolutely love it. Im also really sad I'm missing the closure by just a few days, and the last time I saw it in person was exactly a year ago. This has been my favorite since the day I've watched it on RUclips. I never saw it in person because I never been to Disney world or Disneyland wherever it's at and we can always look back on these videos and see the memories That will never go away. God bless for the upcoming new show and if I'm praying right now for my future wife that me and her can go to Disney world alongside my family

A shame that they don’t see the value in holding onto some of the original rides, if anything ever happens to the carousel of progress I’m never setting foot there again.
So lucky I got to see them in December of 2022!!

Who will voice Henry in the new version of this attraction? Actor Pete Renaday is an old man now and he has aged his voice too much.
Another classic fades into history but our hearts will alwas remember it and sing its classic songs.
