- The road to Namibian border was quite tiring so the moment I entered Namibia I stopped for the night at Katima Mulilo. And that was the moment when my trip took an unexpected twist. One night stretched to seven simply because I met fantastic bunch of people and time flies when you're having fun! This episode is from our little cruise and swim in Zambezi River.

You lucky woman! I was last in Katima Mulilo and paddled nervously in the Zambesi about 50 years ago, constantly looking for crocs. Since then I visited Victoria Falls and took an evening cruise on the Zambesi above the falls in May 2016. By then I was far too old to dice with crocodiles, but enjoyed watching the elephants. The Afrikaans people you were partying and swimming with are "salt of the earth". To any of them reading this, I say "Groete aan julle wonderlike gasvrye mense".

Katima 27 years ago or so was a war zone. Many pre appartheid South Africans died in that area fighting the very people that run South Africa now. Lovely episode in a beautiful part of the world.
