    He doesn't need any foreign coach. Let those coaches coach in their respective countries and bring those who can challenge Tebogo. That's the problem in Africa, we always undermine our local talent and chase foreign things.

    Let's give respect where it's due..Its not by chance that Letsile is a locally trained olympic champion..a while back after he broke the junior record, scholarships to the US came pouring. All were rejected and the reason was for the interest of the boy..I don't think had he moved to America then,he would have won gold at Paris.. Every race i watch of him since the world championship looks tactical and well managed especially on the curves,and the final stretch he is looking strong and sharp..To me Botswana has a world class coach even he managed to win a gold without proper sporting facilities imagine how many Tebogos He can produce with the same resources that those so called world class coaches have. If they wanted to beat the world record, they would have done it by now because they have already trained for it but you guys don't know it yet.. because the right weather,the right moment and a rested body is the only things Letsile need to break world record because world coaching he has in abundance in Maun Botswana

    Changing coaches would be a big mistake. Historically, when sprinters who are already at the elite level change coaches, they don't perform as well.

    This whole thing is absurd. It’s like you don’t understand athletics.
    The very best of Usain Bolt happened under the guidance of one coach until the end of his career.
    Letsile has shown progress from his junior days, and until he stops progressing there’s no need to change anything.

    Let's not undermine Tebogo's coach. Many people seem to do that, Dose is well qualified. Infact more athletes from around the world should come under his training. What can be done is for Tebogo and his coach to be provided with more support. If there is another a coach involved it should not to replace the coach but to be his assistant or only come for specific traning that Letsile might need. Africa should also produce exceptional coaches . its should not be about American and Jamaican coaches taking all the glory when it comes to coaching. Hopefully Botswana will build facilities and attract athletes around Africa and rest of the world. Let's not steal from Africa's shine when it comes to athletics coaching..

      @dafrosm  2 месяца назад +1

      @@Petermoetse07there is nothing like peaking too early. Each year - athletes compete to peak at certain times of the year - usually at major track meets. Tebogo is still growing into his frame - in the next 4 to 6 years he will likely be at his peak. A coach can’t make someone peak if his body and frame is not equipped to handle it.

      @shingieuihos1198 2 месяца назад +1

      I think he should move to some who is better with a proven record of such.
      And I so think that the point of this question is to avoid the Van Niekerk situation. Van Niekerks trajectory after his world record performance plateaued and then declined and could never get better. Look at Van Niekerks performance this season.
      So if there are coaches with better facilities then yeah he should.
      Tebogo recently said he had find ways to use Souh Africa's facilities but could only leverage so much. SO clearly he's revealing that his training situation could be better and that it's not at its best by making such remarks.

    Trust me. Tebogo will not be switching coaches any time soon. If you pay attention to his interviews he speaks highly of his coach
    One thing I admire is the delicacy they exude when approaching his training. It's not easy to find a balance between the 100 and 200. You can put too much focus into building raw speed and that can be detrimental for the endurance required to better 200m times. Noah Lyles is a good example of this. He and his coach believed that getting his 100 down would improve his 200 but if we actually closer at his performance, doing that has put him at a bit of a stand still in the event, is which is why Tebogo stated they may forgo the double and focus on the 200 and just run it to put up fast Times
    He is fractionally improving in the final 100 but he's bounding forward in the 200. Glen Mills himself believes he is on course to break Usain Bolt's world record
    I believe they will add some minor tweaks going into this year, especially after that Olympic gold. But any major experiments will be done in 2026 with no championships coming up.

    • @dafrosm

      This is a great perspective - and I agree with you 💯

    • @panashenhavira
      @panashenhavira 2 месяца назад

      @@dafrosm but to be fair, he took some time off training after his mother passed, which impacted his preparations for speed training. We don't know how much faster he could have been going into Paris. I had originally assumed he would be in 9.83 shape. Then possibly a 9.79 next year or there abouts.
      Secondly, I agree with you asking that question because if he is to somewhat get close to that record he will need to significantly boost his speed while somewhat maintaining his endurance or he'll need to keep improving his endurance while fractionally increasing his speed.
      Michael Johnson ran 10.12 + 9.20 = 19.32
      Usain Bolt ran 9.92 + 9.27 = 19.19
      Yohan Blake ran 10.14 + 9.12 = 19.26
      According to Glen Mills, Usain's footspeed is what helped him run that 19.19. Tebogo is arguably in the same endurance class as Micheal Johnson at this given point in time or at least close to it. Which is why I believe he has a 19.3 in him right now.
      To bring it back to your point, Tebogo and his team will need to find a way to boost his speed or take his endurance down to something even Yohan Blake couldn't do. And that would be a sub 9.10 on the last 100 stretch.
      Kinda hard to believe Yohan did that when Michael Johnson couldn't even run under 9.2 at all. Either way, you're on to something

    You make an interesting point of discussion. For it to happen, it will take a lot. Likelihood is if the move happens to a new coach, it will be with his current coach present. Reality is Dose (congratulations to him and continue wishing him success) has done an impeccable job that Letsile acknowledges. mind you there are a few coming up under the tutelage of coach Dose.. Also listening to Letsile, he was asked about world records, he distanced himself from those - but will remain in the mix.

Many here are closed off, boxed if i can describe it, they cannot hold an intellectual discussion, they will take offence even if what you are posing & asking is valid, that is why one party has ruled Botswana since independence, same mentality of old. But know its not all of us in the same cloth.
    As for me i can say i don't have any problem with current coach coaching Tebogo, they should continue on their success together and Tebogo has repeatedly said that he is not in under any pressure to break world records, his job is to execute the programme of his training & if he wins its a bonus, ultimately the goal is to win but qualifying for these competitions is winning in itself
