  • Kata Containers: Security and Containers Without Compromise - Ildiko Vancsa, Open Infrastructure Foundation
One of the most discussed topics in the industry today is security. Modern society is highly dependent on digital infrastructure and technologies, with services becoming available online in areas like finances and healthcare. With that, the increasing amount of sensitive data going through the network requires improved security measures on all layers of the modern software infrastructure and application stack.
Kata Containers is an open source, secure container runtime that provides isolation by utilizing virtualization technology, while acts and performs like traditional containers. The project is running in production in large public clouds, financial institutions, etc, while the community is actively collaborating with the Confidential Containers (CoCo) project in the CNCF ecosystem to create seamless integration between the two projects for increased container security and protection.
This presentation will provide a technology overview of Kata Containers, including its integration with CoCo, and highlight a couple of interesting use cases to show the project in action. Session attendees will also get a sneak peek into the project’s roadmap and upcoming 4.0 release.
