    at the end of the day, which technique is more accurate and less likely to cause color noise? the color warper seems like a great tool, but im worried it might not feather the hues enough and then ill end up with weird color shifts and noise caused by stretching the tones too far - is that more of an issue in HSL or color warper?

    Hey Qazi,
    Do you recommend/can someone explain whether to use color space transform at the beginning or end of the video?
    I usually have color space transform to rec 709 as my first node so that I can grade with that correct color space in mind and sometimes apply a creative LUT at the very end of the output.
    Can anyone provide input/feedback on this workflow?

    • @domdez
      @domdez 2 года назад +2

      Color space at the end, always! When you change the color space, it inevitably reduces the amount of colors within the color space. If you put your color transform at the beginning of the chain, you're then applying all your other effects on top of an already "crushed" set of colors and will run into colors breaking and noise a lot faster. I hope that makes sense!
      As for "so that I can grade with that correct color space in mind", putting it at the end of your chain shouldn't change much in what you're seeing. Just apply it at the beginning of your process like you normally would, but at the end of the chain!

    • @ChadtheFilipino
      @ChadtheFilipino 2 года назад +1

      @@domdez this is super helpful. But what about if you use a LUT on top of the conversion as well?
      Or are all LUTs made for rec 709?

    • @domdez
      @domdez 2 года назад +2

      @@ChadtheFilipino I'm assuming you mean a LUT for a creative look? If so, just after your color space conversion node, at the end of the chain. One of the few things you would ever have after your conversion (along with let's say film grain, for example).
      I think it's safe to assume that a lot of LUTs out there are made for rec709, but not all. That being said, keep in mind that your camera, lens, lighting , settings, etc all impact the actual colors and overall look of your image. So LUTs will still be a case by case thing to mess around with, even if you're always starting in a rec709 color space.

    I am really waiting for a time when AI comest to film cameras that automatically does group selection of visual things like sky, face, cars etc which will save our time making selective power windows as all the data will be pre baked in the advanced Metadata of video.
    I hope in next 5yr we will see that as we already have powerful Neural engine AI chips like A14 or M1 Ultra that can be shrinked down & get mounted inside the camera body or stacked image sensors.
