I used to work at a grain elevator, and my job was sweeping dust because if enough of it expands in the air and gets ignited, it’s combustible. They were blowing up left and right back in the day. Basically any fine dust particle that can expand in the air will light. Edit: literally watched the video for five seconds longer and he mentions grain elevators lol. He even showed a pic of the one I worked at in Galveston, TX. Blew up in the 60’s
There’s a better, safer, less messy, far more dramatic way to do these experiments. The flame isn’t visible, but it actually imparts force (explosion). Get a coffee can with a lid (metal can, not plastic), drill a hole near the base to fit a rubber tube into it, put a fire source inside (sturdy candle, or electric lighter with button taped down taped to a stand in the center), make a pile of [substances individually to see what works] at the inside end of the tube, put the lid on, and gently blow until the lid flies off from the explosion. Stoichiometry is fun. Edit: Thanks, Mr. Wizard!
AHAAAHHAHAH!!! Not even one "please don't try this at home". I love it! Just a pure "check out this dangerous idea!" vid. Rock on with your bad self, ya friggin pyromaniac.
You might not know but the expression moulin rouge meant that it was a windmill that killed its miller because it exploded. Too much grain dust in the air and a spark coming from the grindsone is all that was needed.
You can take the sieve and put the lighter under it, with the flame inside. Raise the sieve, and the flame will also rise, leaving a gap below it. You can see it better with a flat piece of screen from a screen door. But... it can catch on fire if it gets hot enough.
I know it's not as easy to film since it's not inside but if you build a campfire and then throw a handful of the coffee creamer or powdered sugar at it, it disperses enough and then creates a big fireball. Cinnamon powder also works well. lol
I knew about flour mills exploding and being a Marine I am well acquainted with all of the things in an MRE that can explode or be turned into riot gas 🙂 We definitely cooked off all the creamer packets in our MREs and you can mix the Tabasco, some water and the heating pack powder to create a vile capsaicin infused cloud of doom. We used to set that off and see who could stay in the room the longest.
3:35 same with flour mills. Little sparks from the grinding stone and 🔥 boom 💥 Minneapolis had a particularly bad one in 1878, 14 workers and 4 people outside perished.
We used to throw handfuls of regular sugar onto hot stovetops. Then we'd heat up the ends of butter knives on the hot stovetops and take knife-hits of hash or weed. We were very bored in the mid-'90s.
I've set playback speed to 0.5 so you sound drunk(er), I think it's fitting for this video, haven't got to the end yet but if you aren't running around frantically panicking in a ball of fire I'll be disappointed.
Your neighbours may appreciate you putting a shower cap over your smoke detector before future fire related shenanigans. Just remember to promptly take it back off.
Tell me Kristen is out of town without telling me Kristen is out of town. 😂
😂 brilliant
Just that I can hear her laughing in the background
😂

Can you just imagine what it’s like being in Wes’s head for even like 3 hours a day. Let alone when he’s home alone. Lmfao
Kristen comes home. Looks at the floor, sighs. "Magicians" and goes to bed.
The look on his face when he first blew out the powdered sugar and created the flame was perfect. 😂
The fact that this video is released means that you didn't burn your apartment down😂
Kristen: WTF is all this mess, Wes ?!?!?!
Wes: I've been working, Honey.

Modern Rogue did this - search for "Creating a Dust Fire Explosion" on their channel.

Kristen has to be out of town. Lol

Keep droppin’ these “science behind magic”. LOVE IT ~Smile oN
Does Kristen ever worry when she’s out of town? You may need supervision. That said the kid in all of us thought it is awesome

My admiration and adoration is unbridled.
I think someone has been left home alone without adult supervision...
Ya know Wes there was a Reason Mythbusters said Don't Try this at home! You got Very Lucky something didn't go Tits UP!
Lol! Classic youtube content. Love it. Hilarious.

This was literally 🔥🤣
Great video, Wes 😁🤘🔥

Can we all just take a moment to say 'Hi' to Kristen.... how's the floor looking?
I was just gonna say, it's a good thing he's married. He at least has someone to clean up after him!! 😁😁
"FIRE FOR NO REASON!"

Yeah, what I learned is how viewers are going to set their house or themselves on fire. Thanks Wes for creating a whole new generation of arsonists.
The things boys do when the wife isn't home. LOL
Woa! That was CRAZY!!!!
Now for my next trick, the fire breathing diabetic!

Check out Mythbuster's creamer cannon to see how big the fireball can get.
Pepper makes great sparks
You are too funny when it came to the powdered sugar 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Your neighbours may appreciate you putting a shower cap over your smoke detector before future fire related shenanigans. Just remember to promptly take it back off.
Physically backing away with sugar powder in your mouth while simultaneously moving the lighter flame closer to you!
What happens if you combined them all together?
Does your wife know what you are up to when she's flying somewhere away from home?
Put some in a balloon, shake the balloon then pop it over a flame.
LOL
You have an outside.
Yet choose to burn things inside.
RUclips’s thrift shop does it again ❤
Need a bigger flame. Get a zippo
Your wife is not home is she?
I was expecting Kristen to come in at the end of the video going: what the fu.. *video cuts*
