Brother, you are not a failure!! I am 39 as well turning 40 next year as well. My father died when I was 12 and my mother in my hands 2012. I was always getting high & drinking thinking it’s life. This year started with so many challenges and I really started feeling how you expressed. Just the last 2 weeks things started looking up. Take care of physical health 1st. Keep your mindset positive, indulge in only healthy emotions & remember God put you here for a reason. I am sure you have a gift! Tap into that, enjoy the journey & celebrate your life.
