My ancester came out on the First Fleet in 1788 - he fought for England in the War of Independence in America [1775-1783]. When he returned to England he experienced the economic affects - not only the industrial revolution as you mentioned but the post-American War of Independence affects ---- trade England relied on for wealth was severely interrupted. Imports and exports experienced large drops and a recession caused stocks and land prices to plummet. Trade was also affected by naval attacks from Britain's enemies, and thousands of merchant ships were captured. The prisons filled with people trying to survive - literally. In any case, as a descendent I'm so glad he was sent here, as I live in what I think is the best country in the world!

But I AM a convict sailing to another land! I’m guilty of living a life of sin. But I came to Christ & have forsaken my past. He’s forgiven me & helping me to learn how to conduct myself like His child. & I do believe I’m heading for a better land.🥰

There is another building like the "Sydney Opera House" and it's in Deli India. It's called the "Lotus Temple" and I have been there and seen it for myself.

You don’t mention that Ruse was named that because of its founder, James Hoskin - The Boss. They were both of Cornish extraction, thus a reason Hoskin admired Ruse.

Informative but you need to get up to date on the reasons why the Bristish sent convicts. They were not desperate as there were plans drawn up for a large prison to be built on the banks of the Thames at Battersea. It was the race to beat the French which were on expedition to claim a place on the East Coast of Australia which spurred the Bristish govt to lay claim first and always pushed by Sir Joseph Banks. A very informative read by Catherine Ash who investigated this topic in depth and wrote a book about it.
