My dermatologist is also board certified in facial plastic surgery so I trust her when she recommends a product. After trying a couple of medical grade products I can truthfully say they have done great things for my skin. Alastin and Skin Better are two such elegantly formulated lines that I love.
I love your take on this topic! I was following the advice of buying affordable like TO products. I ended up with a 10 product skin routine that I now dread doing. I rather use two or 3 high quality products research based that a work. The difference in money ends up not being that much since I don’t need as many products. Thank you for the great advice!!
I love Medical-Grade Skincare :) I have drugstore items too, but I do TONS I research so I have the knowledge about health, skin, products, ingredients, anecdotal reviews, professional knowledge passed down to us laymen consumers. And I carefully track my experiences and routines. I suggest the most potent and active ingredients to be pharmaceutical grade 💚
That's amazing. I'm sure your skin thanks you! Yes I agree, the more complex ingredients always need elegant formulations to be effective and that takes research! 😊
Ania! Congratulations!! Love this channel, I’m subscribed and can’t wait for all the amazing, valuable content you will be putting out on this platform. Great job! 💗💗💗
Just stumbled upon your channel and I am loving your videos. Very informative ❤️ also, totally odd question lol but what is that plant called behind you? It is beautiful!
Great information! When money is tight, you can use medical grade skin care 5 days a week and use your drugstore for the other 2 days or make your own combination to stretch out your medical grade skin care if you find it pricey. 💋
@@theocbeautymd I look forward to it. Knowing what you should spend your money on medical grade that will make a difference. I dislike the cost of Colorscience sunscreen because when I’m outside all day, I reapply every hour, every 2 hours at work. I can use up a bottle within a week and that is costly. I wish the cost is a lot lower since it’s mandatory to wear sunscreen for cancer prevention, not just for cosmetically to look good. 💋
Thank you thank you! Of course I subscribed ❤️ what do you think of osmosis skincare? Or thoughts on growth factors? I tried to research it but there’s no medical back up on the claims ?
I can't speak about Osmosis beyond my personal experience. I had heard great things about it so several years ago, I purchased just about the whole line, I used it for a year consistently and my skin kept looking worse and worse. Someone finally recommended I switch to ZO skin health and I did, My skin improved within 1 month and looked great within 3 months. I've never used Osmosis since. I don't know about their research. As far as growth factors, you are right, there is no solid data to suggest GF really make a difference. However they may make a little difference. I do sometimes use the ZO growth factor serum but I think its because I love the scent and feel of it.
It's a good line. I think many of his products are overpriced though and I don't think there is the same degree of innovation and research as some other skin care brands.
Would love to hear your opinion on naturium skincare. Not in a drama way just wanting to know if you think the money I spend on there products are worth it since they are on the more affordable side
From what I can see, most of the niacinamide products are at really good concentrations. I'm not sure how they stabilize the vitamin C serum at a higher pH. I haven't seen any research done on these products but the line overall looks tempting to try if you're on a budget.
This is being requested more and more. I will try to get formulatory and research info from Dr.K. If I can, I certainly will do a review. If I can't get my hands on it, then I can't form a proper opinion because I don't have the info. ❤
Does Skin better science use tretenoin in their alpharet? Another dermatologist on RUclips said that he was told by the brand that they used actual tretenoin in their formula. But it’s not a prescription so I was wondering what you have been told.
No. There is no tretinoin. It uses ethyl lactyl retinoate. A relatively new type of retinoid here is an abstract about it, if you want to dig deeper: Clin Aesthet Dermatol . 2015 Oct;8(10):21-6. The Tolerability and Efficacy of a Three-product Anti-aging Treatment Regimen in Subjects with Moderate-to-severe Photodamage
I have a question I've been thinking about for a long time: Ingredients. Are they all created equal? For example, is the Dimethicone in SkinBetter Sci's products the exact same as the Dimethicone in The Ordinary's products? Is all Sodium Hyaluronate the same quality (if that makes sense)? Or are there levels to it making it possible for one form of Sodium Hyaluronate to be more expensive or higher quality than another? Pls break it down for us! Thank you :)
When it comes to key ingredients, many are not equal. For example, most products use sodium hyaluronate that is chopped into tiny pieces, and even then it's too big to penetrate into the skin. The skinbetter sodium hyaluronate is whole and a special fatty coating is used to help it penetrate through the skin. Pure L ascorbic acid is going to be the same because it's a basic compound but what it's combined with makes all the difference. For example, it requires a low pH for stability and it is also stabilized by ferulic acid, and a dark airtight container. Peptides and growth factors will vary tremendously in formulation whereas a glycolic acid molecule is essentially the same in any formulation. So it really depends on the specific ingredient.
Which three expensive products that you use that you consider worth the extra expense, and excluding tretinoin, sunscreens, and eye creams? Maybe your must have list is shorter or longer>

A lot of interesting information. You never think about the research part of things.
Even with that, you have to be careful. Anyone can claim to do research. It's what the research is and where they publish it that speaks volumes!
Good info about retinol. That’s why I’m afraid to use it. Dries me out.
It can be drying for sure. Usually if you go slow and have a good moisturizer you will get there! :)

Exactly. I believe there can be a balance of where to save and where it's worth the spend. Working on a video for that as well. 😊
