Check for a local women's shelter to donate stuff to. I always empty a room first so I can sweep or mop of vacuum as needed before putting things back. Always go vertical when you can. The kids should ideally have an area designated for them but it is not always possible. I really hope you realize that having an area like this that is open to the garage allows the CO2 from the cars to waft into your house. You really need to get that area closed off from the garage with a gas-tight door.
