Yeah man it definitely takes some getting used to. Try to really lean on that Gamma Stun and using it at close range to maximize the chances of you landing it. That will at least give you one free alpha attack and the opponent should be hurting then :)
The counter takes one charge, the heal takes two, however the heal will still let you activate it at one charge. So the best way to utilize your charges, would be to counter an attack(for damage), then heal afterwards, so you get two actions out of two charges. Many people save the charges for healing, not realizing you can still heal with one charge, which then makes them ignore the counter ability entirely.
