I think I just wish they'd released these kinds of songs under another band name. It just feels like this is not OM&M - no offense, or disrespect intended. Honestly, it's a pretty good album, but it feels like the band was hijacked, or replaced with band members that look alike but are seeking completely different fans. Same as with Asking Alexandria, Escape The Fate, Sleeping With Sirens, etc. I find it hard to imagine they're latest shows are attended by the same people that enjoyed their first albums? That being said, I hope the loss of Danny leads to an AA that sounds a lot more like their original sound.
Well, whether one thinks they've grown is subjective. I'm not a huge fan of the changes in their sound, so I simply quit listening to them, but I've never actually hated on OF&M for changing their sound. I'm of the opinion that they were better with Shayley and when they played harder music. I've been a Linkin Park fan since the beginning, and I've enjoyed the changes in their sound, so, I suppose, I'm of the opinion that they've grown. Some haven't...and those people are of the opinion that they suck. It's the way opinions work.
This song reminds me a lot of my partner. For a while now I've struggled with mental illness that's basically destroyed so much of what I used to be. It's been the hardest years of my life and I'd give anything to go back and change everything. I don't even know what's real anymore sometimes. So many times the only words that have ever kept me going were my partner's words- "I'm not giving up on you". They were the only person who's ever told me something like that. Despite me telling them over and over they should just forget me, that I cause them too many problems and too much pain, they stuck with me this whole damn time. No one's ever done something like that for me. None of my friends get it and my family isn't interested in my issues - they just take me to therapy and even complain about it all the time. I am so lucky and grateful to have someone like them in my life

Austin said in a recent interview that there will be a lot of heavy songs on their next record. It probably won't come out until 2016, but I hope when he says "heavy", he really means heavy haha
Just because there's more clean vocals in this song does not mean they have dropped all unclean vocals. Everyone please remember that they do have some soft songs such as My Understandings, When You Can't Sleep At Night, Space Enough To Grow and Another You. This song is amazing.

Personally I enjoy the new sound more, the old was good but so is the new. Plenty of bands have changed their sound and it worked very well for them (bring me the horizon, the devil wears prada, issues.) I apologize for my comment, it's just that a good majority of girls only know the lead singers name in a band and never have a single bad thing to say about the band no matter what their music sounds like. And you're right about the sleeping with sirens comment lol, I followed that band since Brandon was still a member, my my how crappy they've become since then.
I love this song. Music always has a way of understanding what you're going through, and it helps you feel better. "I'm never giving up on you," I know it's silly, but sometimes when you imagine they are singing just for you, it makes you feel better even if just for a moment.
lol at all these people saying this sounds like Linkin Park. I'm guessing none of you have even actually listened to Linkin Park? It sounds nothing like them. Sounds more like Chevelle or Deftones. Oh, and another thing, this sound has nothing to do with them touring with Linkin Park. Their change in style came with Restoring Force, which came out long before they went on tour with Linkin Park.
This is actually my favorite song by them. I love all of their music equally. Bands grow. That's how it is and if u don't like it then u were never truly a fan.
I'm a guy who prefers heavier stuff and harsh vocals, and OM&M is that one metalcore band that I've been attached to for the longest. Although as I stated, I prefer the really heavy stuff, this has actually become my favorite album by them, and this may be my favorite song by them. Been stuck in my head for hours. Awesome band.
As a fan since the first debut album I can truly say that the evolution of this band has been truly amazing to witness. Tbh I have never listened to this bad purely because of one aspect. The way each member brings there own unique talent to the band is what got me hooked, soaring clean vocals, spine tingling uncleans, vicious breakdowns and purely genius instrumental work makes for a glorious mix of badassness.

As much as I miss "The Flood" type sound, the change this band has gone through and the progress they've made still makes me happy. The Flood will always be my favorite but Restoring Force is so amazing in it's own way. Bands progress and change and become different as the members grow up and change in their own ways, so to watch Of Mice shape and change their sound to fit who they are is wonderful.

Of Mice & Men never failed to impress me. I was into metalcore when I was 14 and listened to these guys music. I'm more of a nu metal person now, and these dudes went and made some nu metal music on their new albums. I have a lot of respect for this band. I was listening to Spotify the other day on my Playstation 4 while playing Batman Arkham Knight, when suddenly this song comes up. It fits so well with the game (especially the tittle screen) that it became my unofficial theme song for the game.
YES YEA YES YES YES IM LITERALLY SOBBING. Austin singing and screaming together is the most amazing thing ever and their new sound is really different but different and these new songs sound perfect so far and they've already helped so so much lately ... Just... They can't ever make a bad song.
I really like the new Of Mice and Men. Please continue to follow the direction you want to follow. At the end of the day it's still your band so you get to make your own decisions. Those who chose to follow you, will follow. Those who don't, can find other bands to enjoy. There's plenty to go around for everyone.

Jackie Galafanakis I so know about his medical issues and I'm fine with him just backing aaron from him on out. And I still like all their new songs. Just wish we could get some more "You make me sick", "The Depths" and songs similar to that mixed in. But I have a feeling that time is over, which isn't a bad thing necessarily but I'm just rambling on lol. My opinion, but take it how you want/feel.

You know people hate on bands for changing their music, but honestly if you are a really good rock fan your happy that they change because every part of rock is amazing. It makes you feel pumped or badass or it makes you cry and I feel like every band should try to explore every part of such an amazing genre of music.

This new stuff sounds good.... but im not too sure how I feel about it. It's not Of Mice & Men. Of Mice & Men at its purest was The Flood. The heavy breakdowns. The deep screams. The heavy riffs, the strong cleans and screams. Don't get me wrong, this new stuff still sounds good, but I'm not too sure I like where it's going. A few songs like this on the new album wouldn't be bad, but a whole album like it? I don't think that'd do too well. If they bring back the The Flood feel, they will be better than ever.
it's a few fucking songs, no way to judge the "direction" of of mice from just these songs. They had some excellent heavy songs on this album like Glass hearts, bones exposed, Public service announcement and you make me sick, all heavy songs. This is their most DIVERSE album to date, and I fucking love it. The heavy rifts get boring over time and people will just complain that there's no "direction". Of Mice and Men are perfectly combining the lovely clean vocals of Aaron and the screams of Austin with Restoring force, and the ALBUM was stated to have been influenced by rock bands such as linkin park, one album doesn't define their future direction, wait until they release another before you say it isn't of mice and men, Of mice and men is what they want themselves to be. Not only that, but because of the evolving state of the music industry, they're having to make their songs easier and more realistic to perform live, with Shayley much of his vocals had been manipulated for the album releases and honestly he wasn't the best live, even with dayshell he isn't that great, he has a lovely voice but it isn't as good as Aaron's live in my opinion, and because they make most of their money from merch and touring, being able to perform live is important. I understand the direction they're going in, Austin can't be screaming constantly so the scream to clean ratio of the album makes sense to me and seems perfect. For me they're only going up, but I understand what you're saying I guess!
Honestly I've listened to and still listen to ALL of Of Mice & Men 's songs. They're a really good band. They may have changed but I still love them the same. They're songs are amazing including this album.
Ehhhhhhhhhh. I really liked Restoring Force when it first came out, it seemed like a good direction for the band to go, even if it did blatantly pander to their "younger" audience. But… I don't know, it just kind of faded on me. The good thing about songs like OG and Second in Sebring was I could always go back and listen to them without getting bored after X number of plays. Maybe it's the fact that I was never really into "nu metal" and Linkin Park style bands. Not that I'm against a band changing it's sound, on the contrary I think the bands that evolve as they grow are traditionally more memorable, I guess it's just this style in particular that's not doing it for me...
Of Mice are changing the face of metalcore. True respect for these cats. And honestly people will always complain about the music of an artist. If it changes, its shit. If they don't change, its too repetitive. People will never be satisfied. But, honestly if you as the individual likes it, then it shouldn't even matter what others say. Change is one of the things that are forever constant in life, those who can't adapt will be left behind. SIMPLE.
Everyone starts giving OM&M shit for changing their style right away but i don't feel like Restoring Force , either Full Circle or not, was a weak album. Austin hard a lot of parts in which he screamed his lungs out, but remember or not, on all the Albums they ever brought us, there are a few softer songs, which are mainly sung by Aaron. ' My understandings ' , ' When you can't sleep at night ' off of 'The Flood ' , ' This one's for you ' off of their self titled album and even ' Another you ' and ' Space enough to grow 'off of Restoring Force. There are much softer and smoother songs on all the albums and maybe this one just happens to be one of them.And also, please note that this might just be temporary or experimental. I can't quite understand what the whole deal with them writing songs like this is, because you can still feel their trademarks all over their songs. It is, all in all, a good song . The message is pretty powerful and it's understandable that it might've helped some people. But after all, i think that you guys are just not wanting to accept the fact that they have grown and that things won't stay the same forever. Austin's been complaining that our fan base started fighting against itself in the past few months only 'cause of people who had different opinions about the sound of their new music and other matters , and i think that that should be a big question mark for all of us. I believe that before we start giving a band crap for the food of their minds, the product of hard work and imagination, the final result of all the hours they've spent in the studio's recording over and over again just to make the songs sound as good as they can , we should take a good look at ourselves and see if we appreciate what we see. We all have been keen on their music and big fans, and correct me if i am wrong , but i am sure that they have helped us realise how to heal some wounds one way or another in our journey against everyday battles. Let's take a moment to appreciate how much they are willing to do for us and what amazing and lovely people they are. They sound might have changed, but you aren't forced to listen to it. It's just a matter of preference here but i believe that it would be much better if you all would also see the full side of the glass... I've been an OM&M fan since before The Flood album was released, and I still enjoy their music just as much. I love heavy stuff but still i love this song. Heavier does not mean better and it's their band and their music. So if you have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself... if you were ever a true fan of this band then be supportive not critical of what they do.

Here's what the people who dislike the song are trying to say (though they can't figure out how to say it). When you listen to bands like these, you listen to them because it's a nice change of scenery from the boring landscapes of radio rock (Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, and other crap). So you find a band that pushes the envelope with their sound and doesn't conform to mainstream sound and it allows them to produce heartfelt music that we all enjoy. It's also notably more difficult to play and by playing that kind of music, they earn our respect. Now they are changing their sound to the very thing their old sound opposed. They sound like Breaking Benjamin and Linkin Park had a baby. We don't want to hear the same bland stuff that we always hear on the radio. This isn't "growing" at all (btw, most overused term in music) and people who oppose it aren't being hipsters about it. Playing "technically" easier music that conforms to radio rock standards is not "growing", it's giving in.

I've been with this band from the beginning. They brought me into this genre and I have to say I like the direction they are taking their music. You can't sound the same forever. Eventually everyone is gonna get tired of it and start complaining. They've made a good transition through their albums and I'm excited to see what else they have in store for us.

I think I just wish they'd released these kinds of songs under another band name. It just feels like this is not OM&M - no offense, or disrespect intended. Honestly, it's a pretty good album, but it feels like the band was hijacked, or replaced with band members that look alike but are seeking completely different fans.
Same as with Asking Alexandria, Escape The Fate, Sleeping With Sirens, etc. I find it hard to imagine they're latest shows are attended by the same people that enjoyed their first albums?

Well, whether one thinks they've grown is subjective. I'm not a huge fan of the changes in their sound, so I simply quit listening to them, but I've never actually hated on OF&M for changing their sound. I'm of the opinion that they were better with Shayley and when they played harder music.
I've been a Linkin Park fan since the beginning, and I've enjoyed the changes in their sound, so, I suppose, I'm of the opinion that they've grown. Some haven't...and those people are of the opinion that they suck. It's the way opinions work.

This song reminds me a lot of my partner. For a while now I've struggled with mental illness that's basically destroyed so much of what I used to be. It's been the hardest years of my life and I'd give anything to go back and change everything. I don't even know what's real anymore sometimes. So many times the only words that have ever kept me going were my partner's words- "I'm not giving up on you". They were the only person who's ever told me something like that. Despite me telling them over and over they should just forget me, that I cause them too many problems and too much pain, they stuck with me this whole damn time. No one's ever done something like that for me. None of my friends get it and my family isn't interested in my issues - they just take me to therapy and even complain about it all the time. I am so lucky and grateful to have someone like them in my life

Personally I enjoy the new sound more, the old was good but so is the new. Plenty of bands have changed their sound and it worked very well for them (bring me the horizon, the devil wears prada, issues.) I apologize for my comment, it's just that a good majority of girls only know the lead singers name in a band and never have a single bad thing to say about the band no matter what their music sounds like. I love this song. Music always has a way of understanding what you're going through, and it helps you feel better. "I'm never giving up on you," I know it's silly, but sometimes when you imagine they are singing just for you, it makes you feel better even if just for a moment.

I'm a guy who prefers heavier stuff and harsh vocals, and OM&M is that one metalcore band that I've been attached to for the longest. Although as I stated, I prefer the really heavy stuff, this has actually become my favorite album by them, and this may be my favorite song by them. Been stuck in my head for hours. Awesome band.
The new songs are heavily influenced by nu-metal and it reminded me of the 90s and early 00s. Good song boys, keep up the good work.
As a fan since the first debut album I can truly say that the evolution of this band has been truly amazing to witness. Tbh I have never listened to this bad purely because of one aspect. The way each member brings there own unique talent to the band is what got me hooked, soaring clean vocals, spine tingling uncleans, vicious breakdowns and purely genius instrumental work makes for a glorious mix of badassness.

As much as I miss "The Flood" type sound, the change this band has gone through and the progress they've made still makes me happy. The Flood will always be my favorite but Restoring Force is so amazing in it's own way. Bands progress and change and become different as the members grow up and change in their own ways, so to watch Of Mice shape and change their sound to fit who they are is wonderful.
Of Mice & Men is still heavy and amazing. Don't get why people complain about their slightly changed sound. I love these guys with a passion, all of their music, old and new. It's like Linkin Park and Slipknot had a baby at this point.

Do you think if you screamed for a living for the past 10 years, like Austin has, you'd still sound the same since day one? No. If you scream everyday, sooner or later your voice will start to change. Austin's new screams don't fit the old sound. And I'm sure as they've grown, they don't want to appeal to teenagers anymore so quit bitching. They are doing the right thing to continue making a living for themselves as musicians.

This new stuff sounds good.... but im not too sure how I feel about it. It's not Of Mice & Men. Of Mice & Men at its purest was The Flood. The heavy breakdowns. The deep screams. The heavy riffs, the strong cleans and screams. Don't get me wrong, this new stuff still sounds good, but I'm not too sure I like where it's going. A few songs like this on the new album wouldn't be bad, but a whole album like it? I don't think that'd do too well. If they bring back the The Flood feel, they will be better than ever.

it's a few fucking songs, no way to judge the "direction" of of mice from just these songs. They had some excellent heavy songs on this album like Glass hearts, bones exposed, Public service announcement and you make me sick, all heavy songs. This is their most DIVERSE album to date, and I fucking love it. The heavy rifts get boring over time and people will just complain that there's no "direction". Of Mice and Men are perfectly combining the lovely clean vocals of Aaron and the screams of Austin with Restoring force, and the ALBUM was stated to have been influenced by rock bands such as linkin park, one album doesn't define their future direction, wait until they release another before you say it isn't of mice and men, Of mice and men is what they want themselves to be. Not only that, but because of the evolving state of the music industry, they're having to make their songs easier and more realistic to perform live, with Shayley much of his vocals had been manipulated for the album releases and honestly he wasn't the best live, even with dayshell he isn't that great, he has a lovely voice but it isn't as good as Aaron's live in my opinion, and because they make most of their money from merch and touring, being able to perform live is important. I understand the direction they're going in, Austin can't be screaming constantly so the scream to clean ratio of the album makes sense to me and seems perfect. For me they're only going up, but I understand what you're saying I guess!

Honestly I've listened to and still listen to ALL of Of Mice & Men 's songs. They're a really good band. They may have changed but I still love them the same. They're songs are amazing including this album.
Ehhhhhhhhhh. I really liked Restoring Force when it first came out, it seemed like a good direction for the band to go, even if it did blatantly pander to their "younger" audience. But… I don't know, it just kind of faded on me. The good thing about songs like OG and Second in Sebring was I could always go back and listen to them without getting bored after X number of plays. Maybe it's the fact that I was never really into "nu metal" and Linkin Park style bands. Not that I'm against a band changing it's sound, on the contrary I think the bands that evolve as they grow are traditionally more memorable, I guess it's just this style in particular that's not doing it for me...
Of Mice are changing the face of metalcore. True respect for these cats. And honestly people will always complain about the music of an artist. If it changes, its shit. If they don't change, its too repetitive. People will never be satisfied. But, honestly if you as the individual likes it, then it shouldn't even matter what others say. Change is one of the things that are forever constant in life, those who can't adapt will be left behind. SIMPLE.
Everyone starts giving OM&M shit for changing their style right away but i don't feel like Restoring Force , either Full Circle or not, was a weak album. Austin hard a lot of parts in which he screamed his lungs out, but remember or not, on all the Albums they ever brought us, there are a few softer songs, which are mainly sung by Aaron. ' My understandings ' , ' When you can't sleep at night ' off of 'The Flood ' , ' This one's for you ' off of their self titled album and even ' Another you ' and ' Space enough to grow 'off of Restoring Force. There are much softer and smoother songs on all the albums and maybe this one just happens to be one of them.And also, please note that this might just be temporary or experimental. I can't quite understand what the whole deal with them writing songs like this is, because you can still feel their trademarks all over their songs. It is, all in all, a good song . The message is pretty powerful and it's understandable that it might've helped some people. But after all, i think that you guys are just not wanting to accept the fact that they have grown and that things won't stay the same forever. Austin's been complaining that our fan base started fighting against itself in the past few months only 'cause of people who had different opinions about the sound of their new music and other matters , and i think that that should be a big question mark for all of us. I believe that before we start giving a band crap for the food of their minds, the product of hard work and imagination, the final result of all the hours they've spent in the studio's recording over and over again just to make the songs sound as good as they can , we should take a good look at ourselves and see if we appreciate what we see. We all have been keen on their music and big fans, and correct me if i am wrong , but i am sure that they have helped us realise how to heal some wounds one way or another in our journey against everyday battles. Let's take a moment to appreciate how much they are willing to do for us and what amazing and lovely people they are. They sound might have changed, but you aren't forced to listen to it. It's just a matter of preference here but i believe that it would be much better if you all would also see the full side of the glass... Or maybe even acknowledge the fact that the glass is STILL HERE!!! that it has not been BROKEN . ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE BAND IS STILL HERE FOR US !

Heavier does not mean better and it's their band and their music. So if you have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself... if you were ever a true fan of this band then be supportive not critical of what they do.

Here's what the people who dislike the song are trying to say (though they can't figure out how to say it).
When you listen to bands like these, you listen to them because it's a nice change of scenery from the boring landscapes of radio rock (Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, and other crap). So you find a band that pushes the envelope with their sound and doesn't conform to mainstream sound and it allows them to produce heartfelt music that we all enjoy. It's also notably more difficult to play and by playing that kind of music, they earn our respect. Now they are changing their sound to the very thing their old sound opposed. They sound like Breaking Benjamin and Linkin Park had a baby. We don't want to hear the same bland stuff that we always hear on the radio. This isn't "growing" at all (btw, most overused term in music) and people who oppose it aren't being hipsters about it. Playing "technically" easier music that conforms to radio rock standards is not "growing", it's giving in.

Not in the scene, many bands do it because thats what their passion is, playing to people to play. Not money. So unfortunately this band, Along With Miss May I, And MIW have gone mainstream. It's a shame, their music is super over produced and unoriginal now. (If you thought metalcore was unoriginal, the numetal scene is plagued with this bullshit almost 100% of the time). Matt Stark these comments really annoy me. Some band actually like to change their sound, and go in new directions. Of Mice and Men aren't teenagers or kids anymore, they want to play more mature music with meaning. I love the first two albums, but this album is equally as good.

there will never be a day where a band could please everyone, and that's just life. I love om&m before and now. they change to stay relevant in today's society. yes they care a shit ton about their fans and who they are, but at the end of the day everyone's just trying to survive and make some money. if they did the same thing all the time, I'd personally get bored and lose interest. the fact they have the balls to change , the fact they can change, sound great, and make a living more than I could dream of makes me take pride in om&m. they've grown, they've discovered themselves all while living their dreams and traveling the world. so I'm proud of them and I'm glad they can save people, put a smile on ones face, and just be apart of my day alone. I support om&m in everything they do 100% as long as it makes them happy.
