The reason why Saitama looks so serious at the end of the episode is because when they said " A class S heroes has been defeated", Saitama thought that's Genos, that's why he looks so serious
A small thing, but many reactors seem to get it wrong. Saitama gets serious as soon as he heards that a S-tier hero has been defeated. He had no idea Puri puri purisoner was there, so he was worried about Genos. It's a small thing but it shows that he cares, too
I think the reason Saitama got so serious at the end is not because it's an opportunity to jump in rank, but rather that he was worried about Genos. The man in the call said "An S class hero was defeated", and Genos ran ahead of Saitama. He can only assume Genos is dead at that point and get pissed
Sonic is definitely a villain imo, obviously partially anti hero as well. The fact he cut all of those guys heads off in his first epp sort of solidifies that hes a villain i think.
Killing criminals doesn't make him a villain, lol. Genos would incinirate them too if thought them as possible danger. It isn't even near the dirtiest thing heroes have done in opm
@@lengors7327 I feel being a Merc would be your occupation, but they are stereotypically matched to bad people. Being a villain or hero depends on what people think of you as a result of your actions.
Definitely not a villain. For sure a bad person and a murderer, but not a villain, doesn't really have a goal that's opposing Saitama or the other heroes, he just does his merc job, fights with the villain of the arc just because and disappears. He's barely an antagonist at this point.
@@bradhenson1776 I still wouldn't call him a villain, definitely a criminal though. I just don't think he associates himself with evil, just doing his own thing and wanting to beat Saitama.

The threat level system is Wolf < Tiger < Demon < Dragon < God. We saw two dragon level monsters in the first episode - vaccine man and the titan. Demons are obviously less dangerous, but there's a lot of variety in that one category. Some are much stronger than others. Most S class heroes can only really deal with demon or lower, and even then it can get pretty hairy.
The hair of the creature from last episode was konbu seaweed. It is a common soup stock ingredient. Puri Puri Prisoner is basically the "Magical Girl" of this series. Think Sailor Moon.
Sonic was in prison because a few episodes ago he was causing general mayhem to get Saitama's attention, and Saitama stopped him to avoid being kicked out of the hero association (and mostly because he was being a nuisance).

@@sammydray5919 Doesn't answer the question, you answered as to why they chose him for the organisation. How is a prisoner that continues to grape, jailed by order of the government employed as a hero.
@@DarrylJohnsonIsWrong The answer is strength. In a world plagued by monsters its probably far more beneficial to have someone that can fight high level monsters. Is it ridiculous and he shouldn't be a hero? Absolutely as far as morals go. However this world and its people (outside of Saitama) doesn't have that luxury to put him down permanently.
Genos has been fighting enemies that only saitama could defeat, so he is really strong in a general sense but he loses every of those fights. Maybe Genos character represents one of the virtuous qualities, preserverance or unyielding wiil.
I think the written test is to prove the hero will make good decisions in tough situations, and guarantee they understand what they are talking about. There's a fan theory that Saitama just wrote he would "punch" things to get out of the situation. Which for him would work, but the testers thought he was dumb.
Carlie is correct that there are always going to be strengths and weaknesses, ranking alone cannot determine a fight's outcome. Mumen Rider is the best! What a beast, by far the most inspirational hero in the show.

the overarching theme for one punch man is really the idea of what a hero truly is. is it based on your rank? popularity? strength? intelligence? how does Saitama, someone who can beat everyone in one punch, fit into all this? that's the real meat and potatoes of the show
So the power level rankings kinda go like: Tiger: 1 A class,1-2+ B class,1-5+ C class Demon: 1 S class, 2+ A class Dragon: 2+ S class Of course, take into account that every class get way stronger as they get closer to #1 so S class rank 1 is way stronger than S class rank #17. The thing about the hero ranking system is that its obviously flawed, and doesn't take into account a lot of things. Same with Monsters level threats. Amai Mask purposely maintains his rank as a Class A Rank 1 Hero, when he could've been a rank S hero. The Hero Association also has a problem with corruption, which is tackled more deeply in the manga.

The show is a comedy that makes fun of other anime and manga. But it still is a well-written story in and of itself. They introduce Saitama and who he is. Then they add in one character, Genos, and slowly add in others rather than overwhelming you with a bunch of characters all at once. Essentially it could be a good story without Saitama, but Saitama is an anomaly that throws everything into chaos. Most stories involve a main character changing, or evolving. But there are some stories where the main character really doesn't change, but everyone around the main character changes, and this is that sort of story. Though there is change in Saitama. Genos also brought some change into Sitama's life. From being an unknown loner to living with Genos. He is weasling his way into Saitamas life.
