All the best horses from all over the world raced in this race. Yet Arrogate from last to first, swept them one by one. I think this is one of the 10 best race I have ever seen.
Arrogate foi o único cavalo que me fez lembrar do lendário Secretariat em Kentucky Derby. iniciando em último lugar para chegar em primeiro. ruclips.net/video/SB5eTuV5Hq0/видео.html
I can't stop watching this race. Arrogate looked like a freaking missile around that final turn. The way he picked off one horse after another in all his windswept glory was like something out of a movie. And, according to Mike Smith, he was being geared down at that point. And I believe it.
Two great DWC performances in a row. California Chrome romped with his saddle slipping and Arrogate picking em up and laying em down with ease after a terrible start. Both brilliant racehorses. Pharoah, Chrome, Beholder, Songbird, Arrogate, etc have all been fun to watch the past few years. Great time to be a fan!
Probably the best race I have ever seen a horse run. Even a very good horse loses that race by 10 lengths...not winning by 2 3/4. Gets away bad, wide the way around the far turn and then just explodes. Simply sensational.
Still incredible how he won that race. Bad break from the gates, held up in last place, on a wet/muddy track, and he came through and won like that!!!! "ARROGATE", WHAT A SUPERSTAR 😀
You're joking right Secretariat went from last to first in the Preakness. It was a great Race by arrogant but his time was actually slower than California Chrome's time the year before
To beat a horse like Gun Runner with that big a deficit . . . unbelievable. Too bad that was his swan song. The most brilliant and short career in horse racing history.
Easy there. It was a GREAT performance, but your comment is like saying Lebron is better than Jordan simply because Lebron has a dominate game and dunks all over the place or scores 1/2 the teams points for that game. Great, great horse with an epic performance, but mentioning in the same conversation with Secretariat is just crazy.
This horse is simply on another planet from the rest.Just watch california chrome in this race 2 years ago, broke ok not great but was still contesting the lead from 3 or 4 wide and found nothing in the straight and beaten by an outsider in a small enough field. This horse has just done something with so much ease we are unlikely to ever see a repeat of it ever again.
I cannot believe what I watched I'm 40 years old and I can say without a shadow of a doubt I witnessed the GREATEST RACE HORSE TO STEP ON A RACETRACK... To win the way he and Mikey had to overcome unforseen obsticals and come from 15 lengths off the lead dead last but cruised passed gun runner by the time they hit the wire Mike Smith and Arrogate looked like a muddy statue..
Go watch Secretariat's races....yeah, the Belmont was great but watch the ridiculous move around the clubhouse turn of the Preakness....then watch Seattle Slew beat Affirmed...and all of Spectacular Bid's races...
Utter foolishness. You know nothing. One example of greatness that Arrogate will never even come close to: Swaps four year old season in 1957... 10 races in 6 1/2 months with a record of 8-1-0 3 track records 3 world records 6 times carrying 130 pounds Often under stout restraint and/or eased Distances from 1 mile to 1 5/8ths miles As stated, Arrogate will never approach these performances and this is but one of the great 4 year olds.
Please stop it. Be a fan. Enjoy what Arrogate did just as we enjoyed Chrome's Pacific Classic with Victor's head on the swivel just as it was in the BC Classic. Comparing eras is like taking a piece of 1958 and saying hey 2017, this is EXACTLY the way it was back then. What about track conditions and on and on and on. Would Roger Banister have beaten today's athletes EVERY TIME? Just enjoy each performance. Go Chrome. Go Arrogate! ;-)
Been a diehard Thoroughbred racing fan since 1993. I am very protective of the mid-90s horses that made me fall in love with the greatest game played outdoors...and I loved American Pharoah as well. But...Arrogate? This is not just a knee-jerk reaction: he is the best horse in my lifetime! Truly incredible to watch. And think of Bob Baffert landing American Pharoah and then this freak of nature in back-to-back seasons. A great trainer and very lucky man!
Arrogate's final quarter in the Travers: 23.84, Holy Bull's final quarter in the Travers: 26.06, I'll give you that the pace was slightly faster for the first 6f but after that Arrogate was trashing his fractions.
AnnaNicolesDeathbed in only four races he's done this... beat The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers of the Kentucky Derby 2 Preakness winners The 1st and 2nd place finishers of the Belmont Stakes The 1st and 2nd place finishers of the Dubai World Cup 2 Santa Anita Handicap winners A Pacific Classic winner A Jockey Club Gold Cup winner A Travers Stakes winner A Met Mile winner A Whitney Stakes winner A Woodward Stakes winner A Stephen Foster winner A Cigar Mile winner A Haskell Invitational winner A Queens Plate winner 2 Clark Handicap winners 2 UAE Derby winners 2 group I winners in Japan 2 group I winners in Dubai A Group I winner in Argentina and Chile A Group winner in England and Turkey
I don't know if your caps lock button is broken or something, but typing in caps sure is annoying, I digress. You're confusing longevity with brilliance, regardlessly as track records get faster they become harder to break, so every time they are broken it becomes less likely that it will happen. That's not Kelso's fault, but it's why the only record he still holds is at 2miles, a distance no one runs anymore. Kelso had an amazing and long career, but if i had to pick one horse for one race it wouldn't be him, don't forget, he did lose 24 times.
"the travers was a fluke", "his workouts look awful, chrome will school him"......were some of the comments i encountered regarding Arrogate, - Well done Arrogate. I knew he was a total beast after his win at the Travers. The real deal, that was no fluke. A truly special horse, this just cemented it. Arrogate and Vazirabad were incredible in this years DWC and DGC.
Grey horse good at dirt. That's a piece of advise I got from a veteran gambler when I watched live racing in HK. This one, not just good, he's spectacular!
see what happened to arrogate at the starting of race (Arrogate in #9). because UAE know arrogate is most dangerous horse. But arrogate defeated them. Arrogate is legend.
I agree. A lot of people say he was injured but in my opinion he just wasn't interested in racing anymore, he gave absolutely everything he had in this race.
I don't think any horse could it beat him that day. Pinched in at the beginning, 6 wide the whole way and still draws away from the also awesome Gunrunner! Not likely going to see a horse this good for a while! RIP.
He put himself in such a hole that the time wasnt great but i m telling u this horse COULD be one of the best ever he makes BIG moves like BIG RED ,this horse is a fucking monster.
I just want to point out, from 2:28-2:37 he moved up 6 lengths passing 5 horses like they were standing still. I love American Pharoah so much, but I would go to say this race was far more impressive than any of his races that he ran. AP was an amazing horse in a good year, Arrogate was also an amazing horse in a bleh year.
Amazing performance. Very similar to Zenyattas classic performance from last to first. Glad they are keeping him on thr track. Would have been great to see AP, CC and Arrogate in the same race... some great racehorses the last few year. His performance on timeform should rival Frankel imo.
The difference being last to first was Zenyatta's game. This horse was taken completely out of his game right out of the gate, adapted to it with the help of his marvelous rider, and won going away. The equivalent for Zenyatta would be for her to go out to set a fast pace and take them wire to wire. This is a very rare kind of win, and this is a very rare kind of horse.
Zenyatta is not one of the top 30 horses of all time....she race 95% of her races on the poly-track in Los Angeles, barely beat a couple of decent, but not great fillies and then she got beat by a very average Blame....imagine what American Pharoah, Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Affirmed all would do to Blame ? He'd get dusted
One also has to realize that Arrogate just started his race track career LESS than a year ago, April 17, 2016. In that short period of time he smashed a 37 year old 1-1/4 record at Saratoga, defeated the older, mature champion California Chrome twice (who by the way ran the fastest Beyer of his life in defeat in the BC Classic) and then ships 1/2 way across the world, overcomes a terrible break and still wins as expected. In my eyes the only thing he has yet to "accomplish" is a full season of racing. If I'm the owner the only thing I'd desire is a back-to-back BC Classic victory but that's a long way off and as of right now there's no horse that can run with him. They might just call it a career with him after this race and stud him.
Juddmonte wants back to back BC Classic wins with him, he will run at least two more times, baring injury. They are going to lay him up for a few months first.
I do have to add that despite my appreciation of Gun Runner's performance and his consistency the level of competition against Arrogate was sub-par. A perfect comparison to gauge the strength of competition was last years BC Distaff. Stellar Wind breaks slowly and loses absolutely any chance against the likes of Beholder, who she had beaten recently twice before, and Songbird. 3 reigning Eclipse award champions in the same race though is pretty rare too.
Never a creature came to earth like ARROGATE. Amazing how he won against the best of the best horses of the world from dead last. I can not believe. Unbelievable. Please someone stick me a needdle. Is it a dream?
Here's for ignorance, remind me, how many Graded stakes are even ran at 1 1/4 in NA in a calendar year? Seeing as Arrogate won two of them I doubt there were many left.
Incredible race, and what a horse. Probably the single most impressive performance I have ever seen. Too bad he would never return to form. Hard to believe that we are already awaiting the arrival of his first foals...
Foolishness, you say. Similar as in Red went from last to 1st, ran wide the whole race, ran down the leader in the stretch, won by 2.5 lengths. Oh yeah, became the 1st horse to run the KD in under 2 mins. BTW, I didn't say "identical". Also was Red's 2nd race in 2 wks. Big A has been lightly raced since times/breeding are different now (7-8 races over his career, ytd?)
That's as good as we will ever see. In terms of astonishing racehorse performance in my experience, I can only think of Arazi in Breeders' Cup Juvenile in 91 and Frankel in the Queen Anne as in the same category. Was a privilege to witness it.
I was 12 when Dancing Brave won the Arc and don't remember watching the race live. Was talking about personal experience of watching the event. DB was, of course, an all time great but it is interesting that appreciation of his achievements have changed over time... garethflynn.com/curious_case_dancing_braves_official_rating.html
There is, at current, no horse in the world that can run with Arrogate. This race shows another dimension as to his strength and endurance with being fouled, losing ground and pulling out the win with an overpowering stretch drive. For those of you that get sentimental and have no objectivity with respect to horse racing, Arrogate has 4 major wins. That does not make a legend, an immortal. Arrogate has a long way to go to prove that.
Yes only four major wins. I agree 4 wins isn't enough to conclude that Arrogate is the greatest ever, but the horses he has beaten and the way he has done it certainly ranks him near the top. He beat the best three-year-olds of his generation in the Travers- in record time no-less. He beat an incredibly talented California Chrome at the peak of his career in the Breeders Cup Classic. In the Classic he also beat grade 1 winners Frosted, Shaman Ghost, and Melatonin. He defeated Shaman Ghost and California Chrome (discounting Chromes off-form) once again in the Pegasus. He has now defeated fellow Travers winner Keen Ice not once- but three times. Also twice defeated Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Hoppertunity. Gun Runner should not be discredited either as he is an incredibly consistent horse who had a dream trip in Dubai just now. Arrogate has won on the lead, stalking, from just off the pace, and now closing from the back of the pack- horses are creatures of habit and don't just do that on an every day basis. No he shouldn't be ranked above the likes of Secretariat yet, but he has surely earned the merit to be counted among the all time greats.
There is no need to write a novella to try and support your point of view. There is no need to point to certain issues that are obvious. It proves nothing. The utter foolishness in your comment shows that you truly know absolutely nothing about horse racing. My sincere congratulations.
I'm not going to enter into this argument with you two. But I will say this to you... you are rude, arrogant, self-absorbed, and extremely proud of yourself. Apparently you've never bothered to learn how to make your point without resorting to insults and demeaning comments. You don't seem to realize that when you act that way, you lose any and all credibility you might have had. Instead of making yourself look all wise and knowing, what you've actually done is to make yourself look like a whiny toddler. Grow up. And by the way... you don't know as much about the sport as you think you do.
For the people who want to question the quality of who he has faced. OK, hold on your hats. In only four races, I repeat, four races, Arrogate has defeated: The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers of the Kentucky Derby 2 Preakness winners The 1st and 2nd place finishers of the Belmont Stakes The 1st and 2nd place finishers of the Dubai World Cup 2 Santa Anita Handicap winners A Pacific Classic winner A Jockey Club Gold Cup winner A Travers Stakes winner A Met Mile winner A Whitney Stakes winner A Woodward Stakes winner A Stephen Foster winner A Cigar Mile winner A Haskell Invitational winner A Queens Plate winner 2 Clark Handicap winners 2 UAE Derby winners 2 group I winners in Japan 2 group I winners in Dubai A Group I winner in Argentina and Chile A Group winner in England and Turkey Once again, that is in only four races. And he defeated the majority of those horses by double-digit margins.
What a race budy rest in peace Arrogate cry in tears, came here after i watch the saudi cup today what a race, if any of horse stables owners see my comments invite me i want to have a horse soulmate iam tired of fake human P.s i will come after every world cup to this amazing peformance
This horse is a speed or stalker type. With that being said, How do you get squeezed, shuffled back to last in a mile and a quarter race rally behind a slow pace and still manage to win so easily that the horse cruised home the final 200 meters? lol
Freeze the video at 1.15 and take another look at the head start those in the front had on Arrogate at this point in the race. I'm sorry but this was a very good race for this horse who hadn't shown this dimension (coming from dead last to first) in any race before. Yes, he had 7 or so races up until this point but other animals would have balked at all the wet dirt he ate during this race. Flying across the world. Facing adversity in a race of this magnitude and overcoming? Heck, he out-Keen Ice'd Keen Ice (American Pharaoh's conqueror) at his own game. Kudos!
Only Secretariat could have done what Arrogate just did. Between the two, I'm not sure who would have won but it would have been incredibly close. Bob Baffert was right when he said Arrogate is the best since Secretariat. Credit to Mike Smith for the quick-thinking ride reminiscent of his time with the great Zenyatta. Arrogate is the best horse of this century so far.
I was trying to state that it wasn't Arrogates normal running style to be that far back. He reminds me of Secretariat in that he can run anywhere in the field and still win- such as Secretariat's Derby and also his front running Belmont. Arrogate has proven to be on Zenyatta's level with his win today- Mike Smith even said so in the press conference following the race. I take nothing away from Zenyatta by saying that- she is phenomenal and her 19 straight wins including the Breeders Cup Classic is a better body of work than Arrogate has at the moment. But talent wise, they are similar. Secretariat still has the edge for me and probably always will because of his Belmont. Also times aren't the best way to compare due to different conditions but both Secretariat and Arrogate can run 11/4 in virtually the same time.
+Rachel Only thing 2 things I have regarding your comments; dirt is dirt but today's conditions are better than 43 years ago, and regarding Zenny, Smith blew that last race of hers and he knows it, IMOP Red will always have the edge, you mentioned the Belmont, mile and a half which Arrogate will probably never run and Red's 3 Triple Crown records which still stand.
Yes Smith blew that race but what does that have to do with her other 19 wins which also include a Classic? Surfaces are significantly better these days but then the same can also be said for the tracks Secretariat ran on vs. what Man O War raced on. Arrogate will never run 11/2 because there are no more highly prestigious races at that distance on dirt besides the Belmont. Secretariats records in the Triple Crown are impressive and they do still stand in those races individually. However, Spectacular Bid ran 11/4 in 1:57.4/5 and Riva Ridge holds the record for 13/16 in 1:52.2/5-both on dirt within a decade of each other. Secretariat does still hold the 11/2 record though. This is why I think times aren't a good way to compare because they rely on so many differing factors such as track, surface, conditions, pace, and talent of the field as a whole. In order to make a decent comparison you have to look at not just how many wins or fast those wins were, but who they were against? was the trip perfect or troubled? were they able to run the race in their typical running style? did they benefit from a perfect pace setup? There are so many things that should be considered. In that respect so far, Secretariat has the edge and likely will always have the edge. But Arrogate has shown in far less time than many other horses that he belongs to be compared to Secretariat- not labeled better or superior, but compared.
The notion of not winning a TC means zip is an absurd comment. Arrogate has now won 4 races, and very impressively, but 4 wins does not make a horse immortal.
Lost in this performance was how strong Gun Runner was that night. He wins this race 99 out of 100 times. Unfortunately for GR, his best wasn't only 2nd best this time thanks to Arrogate
RIP to one of the greats. This race was the best I've seen
All the best horses from all over the world raced in this race. Yet Arrogate from last to first, swept them one by one. I think this is one of the 10 best race I have ever seen.

I just watched this race three times in a row. Terrific ride, amazing run, beautiful horse.
I love watching this race. Arrogate was so dominant. He came up like a feight train
Holy smokes- one of the greatest races I've ever seen.
Thank you for the great memories. Life cut very short to this beautiful angel. RIP Arrogate ❤❤❤❤❤
One of the best race since SECRETARIAT's Belmont race. Goose bumps all over watching Arrogate.
Agreed!
Yes! We have been spoiled
That stride is so powerful. Just watch his action collaring Gun Runner in the stretch... pure power. Unbelievable horse.
Arrogate is legendary , unbelievable .. I’ve never seen horse in this strength

Rest in peace, handsome boy. I wish you didn’t have to go so soon. We’re gonna miss you, buddy.
Probably the best race I have ever seen a horse run. Even a very good horse loses that race by 10 lengths...not winning by 2 3/4. Gets away bad, wide the way around the far turn and then just explodes. Simply sensational.

One of the best ever for sure but saying Secratariat couldn't do it is absurd, did you watch the 1973 Belmont?

CC time was faster in the 2016 Dubai World Cup
They mugged Arrogate at the gate @ 2:28 coming around the far turn, you'll see him just unleash his huge stride and start circling the field
RIP Arrogate 💔😢🇸🇦

Arrogate comes from last to first passes the world’s chosen best horses at the time. That is so admirable.
To win a race like that, in the way Arrowgate did, proves it's class. Racing at it's best
Wow, he just shoved Mubtaahij aside and strides to the wire. That move on the turn, it was like a man amongst boys. On dirt, simply the best.

If I'm the owner the only thing I'd desire is a back-to-back BC Classic victory but that's a long way off and as of right now there's no horse that can run with him. They might just call it a career with him after this race and stud him.
+Joseph Well said Joseph, could not have said it better, he is something else.
Is it a dream?
who didn't make it? You must be a Chromie...
Again, who didn't make it? Shaman Ghost ran 14 days ago so he wasn't coming and he has already seen Arrogate's ass.
Neolithic has never won a stakes and is still a top 5 dirt router in NA, he's ran third in this race and the Pegasus.
Here's for ignorance, remind me, how many Graded stakes are even ran at 1 1/4 in NA in a calendar year? Seeing as Arrogate won two of them I doubt there were many left.
He said 10f, plus i was being facetious, I know how few 10f graded stakes on dirt there are.
Incredible race, and what a horse. Probably the single most impressive performance I have ever seen. Too bad he would never return to form. Hard to believe that we are already awaiting the arrival of his first foals...
I'm so excited for Arrogate and Songbirds daughter to race, she has two amazing horses' hoofprints to fill.
RIP Arrogate, we'll miss you
Great announcer too!
2:03 He looks like a predator stalking its prey. What a performance. Scary horse!
MESMERIZING BEAUTY poetry in motion from DEAD LAST, Beyond the Enemy Lines Gene Hackman and OWEN Wilson risen from the dead scene
His son runs in the TVG Breeders Cup Juvenile today - run well for your sire, Jasper Great!
The "force" is strong with this one.
I like you. haha
Left it all in Dubai that day. True 🏆.
impresionante.! Fenómeno lo que hizo este caballo.... Es un crack poco visto.... WOW.....
that horse bounced off arrogate lol
Unfortunately...
But some horses *just hate losing* 💛
A is for Arrogate
A is for Absolute superstar
A is for Anointing
This horse is scary good...There's no doubt we would have had back to back Triple Crown winners if he had the chance to compete in them.
Reminded me of Secretariat's Ky Derby win. Great race, the big "A" is a great horse. Congrats to "Team Arrogate"
Foolishness.
RIP Arrogate. What a performance.
I am a gun runner fan, but damn arrogate had an amazing run!
The great ones make it look easy
Arrogate is a big long striding horse like Tonalist and has the explosive turn of foot just like the late Shared Belief. Unlike any horse I have seen.
Shared Belief's spirit seems to be with this one. Arrogate is just amazing like he was.
That's as good as we will ever see. In terms of astonishing racehorse performance in my experience, I can only think of Arazi in Breeders' Cup Juvenile in 91 and Frankel in the Queen Anne as in the same category. Was a privilege to witness it.
Clearly haven't seen Dancing Brave's win in the Arc, most probably the best race in the world and that year was the strongest ever edition of it.
Anyone watching live know what the announcer said at the end right after this vid cuts off?
"22 Dubai world cups and that I think would rate equally as the most spectacular!"
Is vitamin is here?
Was at his record setting Travers Stakes victory and was there yesterday to his his sire win.
There needs to be dates on the titles of every video on You Tube.
nothing like taking your time until the stretch and showing everyone who the "power house " is........ A is for AWESOME .....
RIP to another super horse. So sad to hear of Arrogate's passing...
Sad news today, RIP Arrogate 6-2-20
I cry everytime I watch this.
Me too
Guess what? He died June 2nd, 4 days ago. I don't live under a rock.
RIP arrowgate you will be missed my friend
"The Man O War of the 21st century" about sums it up...
Unbridled Song was a bit of a head case too... Arrogate seems to have a cool head and a massive heart...
You dont even understand how BSF's and TF are derived and their overall subjectivity. Keep citing things you do not understand.
What happened to Arrogate? Did they ever say?
Thank you.
For the people who want to question the quality of who he has faced.
OK, hold on your hats. In only four races, I repeat, four races, Arrogate has defeated:
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers of the Kentucky Derby
2 Preakness winners
The 1st and 2nd place finishers of the Belmont Stakes
The 1st and 2nd place finishers of the Dubai World Cup
2 Santa Anita Handicap winners
A Pacific Classic winner
A Jockey Club Gold Cup winner
A Travers Stakes winner
A Met Mile winner
A Whitney Stakes winner
A Woodward Stakes winner
A Stephen Foster winner
A Cigar Mile winner
A Haskell Invitational winner
A Queens Plate winner
2 Clark Handicap winners
2 UAE Derby winners
2 group I winners in Japan
2 group I winners in Dubai
A Group I winner in Argentina and Chile
A Group winner in England and Turkey
Once again, that is in only four races. And he defeated the majority of those horses by double-digit margins.
What a race budy rest in peace Arrogate cry in tears, came here after i watch the saudi cup today what a race, if any of horse stables owners see my comments invite me i want to have a horse soulmate iam tired of fake human
P.s i will come after every world cup to this amazing peformance
Not even
Not even flat line arroget is the best
I've watched a lot of races in my 74yrs.but this horse wasn't even in the race &won it😅😎
This horse is a speed or stalker type. With that being said, How do you get squeezed, shuffled back to last in a mile and a quarter race rally behind a slow pace and still manage to win so easily that the horse cruised home the final 200 meters? lol
Legend race by legend horse. RIP.
What was the track condition for this race?
muddy, sealed. they had torrential rain for a week leading up to the race.
Kudos!
u can't win that race with that start u just can't, how did that happened ,I feel like I just watched a movie
He died Today, RIP
I hope too
Only Secretariat could have done what Arrogate just did.
Not just Secretariat - Frankel too. He did in fact win a race in similar style, and Arrogate reminds me of him.
Couldn't have said it better Rachel.
GOAT MODE
The greatest horse to ever live, too bad some people will discredit him because he didn't win the Triple Crown.
The notion of not winning a TC means zip is an absurd comment. Arrogate has now won 4 races, and very impressively, but 4 wins does not make a horse immortal.
Yes...4 wins makes him the greatest ever. You must be kidding. Further, you discredit the accomplishment of a TC winner with your comment.
4 major races, 7 total wins.
Gladiator Z56 easy there!..greatest ever??...
Gladiator Z56 easy there!..greatest ever??...
Arrogate ❤🇸🇦 the best racing preformence horse in the History 💔🇸🇦
Annointed to soon......proved to be mortal and just that....a 4 race flash in the pan....
Can someone kindly tell me who the Race Caller is? Thanks!!!
Terry Spargo.
Thanks for that. Cheers!
which country win ?
Lost in this performance was how strong Gun Runner was that night.
He wins this race 99 out of 100 times. Unfortunately for GR, his best wasn't only 2nd best this time thanks to Arrogate
