Do you always need to report type of aircraft ("Cessna") before your call sign for every transmission? Or can you just say your call sign?

Great question! You can technically just say your call sign (Ex: N9605Q), but saying your type aircraft is a huge help for ATC. Knowing your type can help them plan for sequencing because they account for your speed. A Skyhawk flies much slower than a Citation for example.
