    This new handspring tutorial will help you to get your base grip handspring by showing a lot of good pre-exercises. It is always healthier for your shoulders to practice the base grip first instead of using the twisted grip. Using the base grip will help you to activate your biceps and lat and you will gain a lot of strength - the twisted grip is really dangerous for your shoulders because you just 'hang' in there without activating any big muscles. Leave us a comment and let us know if the tutorial is helpful. And don't forget to train your bad side ;)

    Thank you! I’m gonna try the side kicks progressions. I recently got my first hand spring entering from facing the pole and want to try this version too :)

    Thank you for this great tutorial! I have been trying to do handspring for year but with the twisted grip, and I always ended up with pain in my bottom hand and now I know why! When I train it like you in the video, I feel that my grip Is so much stronger and I'm finally getting there!

    Thank you, great tutorial. I tried to master it, with no luck sadly... I'll try again with your tips, maybe the standard grip instead of a twisted one will help somewhat

    I love that you dont teach handsprings with twisted grip! There is litterally no muscle activation in the top arm when doing it, its so much better for your shoulders to do it with true och cup grip!

    Brilliant! We have started working on handsprings at my studio and I will incorporate these in my training. Regarding the twisted grip, funnily enough I cannot do anything using this grip, I feel like I don't have any control.

      Awwww, thank you so much for your feedback. Sadly enough, many studios teach twisted grip to beginners ;( Have fun while teaching

    I’m having a lot of trouble getting comfortable in the position where you’re rotating and upside down in the practice kicks. So I can’t bear my weight because I’m not setting myself up correctly. This video is great! Thank you. Lots of work to do at home :)

      Thank you very much for your comment. Did you film yourself already? Is your lower hand unstable? Is your top arm not pulling enough? Are your legs wobbly? Do you look up? There are so many factors to be recognized so every time you practice, try to film yourself and analyze afterwards what you can do better next time. Maybe you are not yet strong enough to hold it. It takes a million tries to make it clean so don't give up and keep trying

      Polestructions thanks for your reply! I think it’s a combination of needing to develop muscle and become comfortable with a full rotation as I seem to collapse into the pole because I am not properly anchoring my arms. I can comfortably sit in a butterfly and I might try and feel it out as a transition from the that to get a sense of what my muscles should be doing and how it should feel. Then... practice! Until it feels natural. Thanks again!!

    Why not with reverse grip? That's the way I've been taught in every pd studio!

      @Polestructions  6 лет назад +4

      Hey Katarzyna, thank you for your comment :)
      Yes, you can do it with cup grip or twisted grip as well but we think that the base grip aka true grip is best for you muscles and the easiest way to improve strength.
