- The atmosphere is thin and cold the higher up a plane goes. The exhaust from a plane's engine is much hotter than the atmosphere. The water vapor from the hot plane engine turns to ice mid-air which we see as white lines in the sky called contrails.

Pause at 1:12 and see. That's a contrail and it's not from the wing tips.
The ones you see from wing tips are different. They are smoke machines fitted on jets to make some pattern or message on sky like you see on independence day
I just find a bit unfortunate you start the video with a clip from and air show. The lines behind that jet are not contrail, but smoke produced by smoke generators for visual effects :-).

I have actually witnessed two planes in the sky near each other. One had true contrails which dissipate in seconds and the other had a trail across the sky. Explain please!
Two possible minor reasons would be different engine types (turbofans will produce contrails at a lower altitude than a turbojet will, for example) or possibly different power settings. An engine powered back for a descent, for example, will not leave a contrail, or at most a very faint one. But the most probable reason is that humidity can vary quite vastly in the upper atmosphere. One aircraft could be leaving a very thick persistent contrail while another aircraft only 1,000 feet higher or lower may leave a relatively short contrail. Either way, no aircraft on this planet has the payload capacity to carry and spray a load of chemicals from horizon to horizon of the same mass and volume as a persistent contrails, which have been measured to contain tens of millions of pounds of ice.

Joe Bob the fastest planes aren't all the ones with chem trails and not all that high up. The planes are very visible from the ground and chemtrails fan out to produce wide swaths of clouds or fog. Too much and too many to deny something is up. Just be honest is all I ask

Tech Insider is right but the first footage of that jet had nothing to do with contrails. Those are wingtip vortices. After the formation of the vortex, the pressure inside it decreases significantly as compared to the ambient pressure. This results in a significant drop in dew point (which was already below the ambient temperature before the formation of the vortex) but along with it, there is an even greater drop in the vertex core temperature, which transforms the water vapour into water droplets and hence we are able to see the vortices trail coming out of the rear endplates. A whole lot more different than your subject.
No, the trails from the wing tips are from Smokewinders smoke generators.
Dew Point does not decrease with lowering pressure. DP is a conservative property of air masses. Yes, the temperature decreases towards the core of a vortex, and it it reaches the Dew Point, the water vapor condenses to water droplets.
But the trails are smoke in this video. We are all mystified as to why this creator has included this clip in a video about contrails.
@@RossMarsden I remember seeing satellite imagery showing (single continuous) trails span for thousands of miles around the world. Since much of this was highlighted they no longer show us clear unaltered satellite weather image data, radar or otherwise. There is no way the trails could span hundred of or thousands of miles and persist without any dissipation. Geoengineering, been going on for many decades and more advanced than your cloud seeding. The idea is for synthetic clouds via aerosol spraying which was proposed in the 1960s to reflect solar radiation but it has devastating effects on the climate causing global warming and disruption to rainfall around the world, causing droughts or flooding. Patents for weather modification go back to the 1800s but recent decades the tech is far more advanced. Ionospheric heaters and other similar tech is also used. Particles in the sea can also be used and have been in the past with devastating consequences.

Contrails do persist in ice-supersaturated (high humidity) conditions. In dry air, the ice of contrails can easily evaporate but in high humidity conditions there is already too much moisture in the air for any more to evaporate. This is basic cloud physics and is easily understood.
Are you suggesting that satellite imagery of cloud formations are edited to add to remove features before they are published?

Modern jet dont do this.just sit by a wing and look outside...or simple look out side everyday and videotape it like thousands have.

Often that's the case because contrails are frequently a precursor of an incoming front or low pressure system. As such they are the result of these conditions, as opposed to the cause.

Please allow me to contradict some of your observations. For starters i would like to tell you a few things about myself.
A. I am not a conspiracy theorist.
B. I am a nature lover.And yes the sky is one of my favorite parts of nature.
I find that most people who make the claims you make are people who don't spend as much time looking up as i have done most of my life.
C. Back in the 60s and 70s i flew a lot on commercial airliners. Not to mention that i was always able to procure a window seat allowing me an opportunity to get a good visual of what was coming out of the engines. Also as you stated correctly those contrails only occur at high altitudes. On every flight i have been on i ONLY SAW contrails coming off THE END OF THE WING not the engines.
However there is one thing that has changed since i used to fly. Back then the jet engines had only very small fans that bypassed the main turbine engine.
Now all the jet engines have huge bypass fans. So that is the only difference i can think of. Perhaps the large fan blades create huge volumes of damp air that turns to vapor.
I only started to notice these annoying flumes of white vapor in the mid 1990s .
D. I live on Long Island home to some of the wealthiest people in the country. about 10 years ago i saw when ever going to the beach those same streaks all over the sky. Then more recently those streaks disappeared for the most part. now i have seen 4 to 5 days where the sky remained completely clear of those large white flumes. The reason i meant ion that there are very wealthy people who live there is because i would suspect when there is so much wealth in one are that money is power. And if they don't want to see the sky all ruined with endless patch work of white lines then that would be a good reason for the virtual elimination of those flumes over our sky.
E. I still do see these thick white lines on certain days but based on my observation of the size of the aircraft and the speed at which it appears to be going. These planes are flying more at low altitudes where these vapor trails are not supposed to happen. Then there are days when there are planes flying at the same altitude and nothing is coming out,
Then i can keep watching one plane as it is flying and suddenly the flume just stops comming out. A bit suspicious.
I wish people like yourself would make your own observations.

The trail left by the fighter jet is different to how you explained it, as you can see the trails were on the wingtips as opposed to the engine - these ones are created because of something to do with the airflow over the wing and leaving a colder area at the tip, don't ask why cause I can't remember lmao, really quick pressure changes at high G forces etc heating and cooling down the air. Also contradicting what you said about them only appearing at high altitudes, they're also seen upon landing in humid conditions.

The people that just absolutely know that this could not be anything but water vapor (although real moisture clubs do not act like that in any way). And on that side of the discussion or lack of discussion the people will call people trying to just ask them to research and look up conspiracy theorists or kooks. They are actually at least 1000 feet apart, but appear much closer due to the foreshortening effect of distances caused by the use of an extreme zoom camera lens.

the fighter jet doesn't have contrails at that low altitude, that is the vortex shedding on the wing tips from the difference on pressure on the top and bottom of the wings meeting at the wingtip creates the swirling air which is more visible when it zooms out
In a commercial airplanes white smoke coming out from the wings are fuels. They called "fuel dumping" in order to reduce the weight of the plane, because there is a weight required for landing.
They don't use fuel, they use hot air right? That's what chemtrail deniers say

Crazy how these are linked, we are in Sonoma county as well, have stripes in our sky daily, getting out of control. As well as the fires are. You know the ingredients in the Geo engineering spray are very flammable, especially when they are nano particles in millions of layers all over everything around us, make for a super super hot Infiniti on of a fire.

It's a shame that whilst your explanation of contrails is correct, you've chosen to use film of a Eurofighter Typhoon at low altitude, and it isn't producing contrails; what you're seeing are wing-tip vortices, which are different.

actually, it's called vortex shedding, it comes from the rolling of high pressure air on the bottom of the wing making it's way round the wing tip to the low air on the top creating the vortex trail

Vapour contrails at the end of winglets are due to vortex cooling water vapour around into small crystals. Contrails from engine exhaust is a different thing.

this is called "fuel jettison procedure" or fuel dumping for commercial/cargo plane to reduce weight to avoid structural damage during emergency landing and it usually done in high altitude to avoid fuel reaching it from the ground with coordination from the air traffic controller.
I just want to point out how extremely inefficient it would be to release chemicals from planes for mind control or weather control purposes. The distribution of chemicals from high altitude planes would be so spotty and diluted, and the cost of money and labor is so out of the way compared to something like tampering with our water. If you wanna uncover government secrets, think of it from a sleight-of-hand magian's view instead of the audience's view.

Those that appear behind the engines are exhaust contrails, whilst the tips of the wings and the surfaces themselves can also produce what are known as aerodynamic contrails. You can observe the same effect off the spoilers of a racing car.

I'd wished I taken a photo of what I saw this morning, the sun just about to rise mottled grey clouds highlighted with fluorescent orange an airliner flying through the clouds, its contrail was not orange but a brilliant silver-white, my quandary if it is "ice crystals'' , why was the crystalline vapor trailing the back of the plane in such amazing contrast to the orange colour of the highlights and greys of the cloud?

I truly can care less about the debate contrails vs chemtrails but I do have a serious question about something I witnessed this weekend. I saw 4 military jets flying in a group formation over Miami Beach release this "trail" at the same time for about 10 seconds. This formed a thin like cloud that evaporated as quickly as it formed. Yes I've seen "regular" trails left behind passenger jets but I didn't know they could be controlled in such fashion. A regular day in Miami: blue sky, good swimming weather, windy, humid, and a couple sparse clouds in the sky
They didn't control it, you know that weather conditions on high altitude is different then on ground and can change dramatically over short period of time?

If you live near an international/commercial airport, you can expect to see them a lot.
So explain to me why you have a fighter jet at only 100-500 feet with airshow smoke on made by spraying oil on a hot surface and then you say it can only be formed at high altitudes?
ClearSkyAviation You've answered your own question. One is the result of hot exhaust into cold air (water vapour). The other is smoke made by burning oil. Completely different.

No, whatever gave you that impression? Exhaust contrails produce cirrus clouds which are not conducive to precipitation.
Saying that, the liquid fuelled rocket motor test stands at Stennis Space Centre in Mississippi essentially produce contrails, and yes they can indeed inadvertently make it rain.
When I was younger I used to think it was people with jetpacks trying to make patterns in the sky hahahaaaa

I have been to Phoenix many times and seen a sky full of contrails at altitude. Nothing out of the ordinary. Are you similarly perplexed by cirrus cloud?

The reason that a small number of people that say "these things" is that they have been hoodwinked by online conspiracy theory. The fact that rudimentary meteorological science and atmospheric chemistry is beyond their comprehension has no bearing on the rational world which is not obliged to compensate for such personal incredulity.

Which is pretty insignificant in itself. On You Tube? - so it must be true then? There are some 40m Americans that afford some sort of credence to creationism, doesn't make it true.
You won't find one credible atmospheric scientist or meteorologist that subscribes to this or has published any studies on chemtrails.

It's simply a matter of reading up in some rudimentary and simple independently verifiable atmospheric science. Any meteorology text borrowed from a public library will explain persistent contrails.
How can they turn the contrails off and on while flying ? How do they get so long so often. I see some be the short ones that dissapear fast. Sometimes I have been doing something at sunrise looking up all morning and saw all the planes leave long ones. They were criss crossed and within a couple hours made it overcast. In the desert. I thought contrails dissipate and disappeared ?
The duration of a contrail is a function of prevailing humidity, temperature and pressure and because the atmosphere behaves as a fluid this can differ within the space of mere metres. Fly an aircraft through this at up to 500 knots and contrails can appear and disappear immediately. Watch contrails that have already been laid down and you'll often see sections of them vanish for precisely this reason...ascending and descending parcels/columns of air.
Atmospheric conditions on the desert floor are completely different to those 30,000 feet above where often dry subsiding air can be overlain by very cold humid conditions.
Why would you not expect contrails to intersect given that aircraft fly in accordance with differing altitudes and headings?
John Yossarian I was asking because contrails and chemtrails are very different. I am a 50 yo Gen X from So Cal. I remember when there were no chemtrails. Only rarely actually would you see one. My best friends dad was a high rank military and told us those were missile tests. They mix things in the fuel for performance needed for the missles. I see chemtrails often and the time I speak of hunting birds requires me to watch the sky for birds that must be shot while flying over. Only the kind in season with a limit of course. Planes were chemtrailing the sky all morning and it made it overcast. It was not possible they were contrails and were not low fliers.
For your attempt of disinformation clearity. A contrail does not stay visible for very long. They do not stay and spread slowly over hours of time. Contrails disappear behind the plane!

The duration of a contrail is entirely dependent upon the immediate atmospheric conditions and if saturated in respect to ice a contrail will not only persist but can spread and become indistinguishable from regular cirrus.

I smell a FISH and it is rotting. I read your link from Knollenberg in 1971/1972 ! I was just a little kid then and never saw nor know anybody who saw this happen with contrails but yes they were starting to do things. 35 years later we all see chemtrails. I was seeing this not just in Southern California. The staring at the sky was in the desert at the start of September ! Very hot at night and hotter in the day. The planes were not low but not very high.

The amount of aluminum, barium and strontium found in the soil the ponds and lakes and the snow that is the water we drink and use is very harsh. The aluminum has gone up so much in recent years to be 61 times higher than what it should be. The crops are becoming hard to grow in this contamination. It is ok though Monsanto is making seeds of them that are resistant to it. So just buy the seeds from them problem solved $$$$$. The health issue from people breathing this is horrible. It is tested by many in many places and known not conspiracy !

If that is the case then how come it happens at different altitudes? Iv'e seen it happen with low flying planes plenty of times. And how come there have been plenty of days where the sky was clear of "contrails" but yet there were still planes flying everywhere...at high altitudes...
Same reason why some days are clear skies and some days are cloudy. Sometimes there are different conditions to form a cloud, or a contrail (Which is basically a cloud).

The only problem is that u have 2 airplanes flying roughly at the same altitude. One leaves lines and the other not. So u can't really predict the weather. Just like there is cloud seeding for rain ... There are other airplanes spraying something else. Possibly carbon nano particulates ... PM 2.5...

I always thought it was farts from the people inside the plane and they released it out into the air and because the atmosphere was different up there it made it look like that, I guess I was wrong all this time.
That's funny. If long lines of condensation form high in the sky, due to colder temps, why am I noticing these chem -I mean "contrails" drifting into lower warmer levels of the atmosphere without evaporating? I mean, it's practically low enough to jump up and touch.
