I'm a mining and rock engineering faculty at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden. I just want to give some corrections and additions: 1. Finland is the home of Sandvik is half true. Legally, Sandvik is a Swedish company, but its mining equipment (drills, LHDs, and trucks) facilities (factories, R&D, etc.) are located in Finland (Tampere and Turku). The reason for this is that the mining equipment division used to be Finnish companies (Tamrock for drills, Toro for LHDs and trucks) before they were acquired by Sandvik. After the acquisition, they became Sandvik but the factories were kept and still stay in Finland. So technically speaking, Sweden and Finland are the home of Sandvik. 2. It is Kittilä, not Kittila. I understand that you don't have Swedish/Finnish keyboard, but in Swedish and Finnish, a and ä are different alphabets. But we understand if foreigners make this mistake because both languages have more alphabets than English, and ä is one of the extra alphabets. 3. You missed "per day" in mentioning 75,000 of iron ore mined in Kiruna mine. 4. You should have mentioned that in order for foreigners to work in any of these mines, they must be able or have willingness to speak or learn the native language (Swedish or Finnish). This is mainly because many of the operators are not fluent in languages other than their native one. As you are aware, communication is vital in any workplace. 5. I would expand your list to top 8 and add Malmberget, 2nd largest UG iron ore mine in the world after Kiruna, Garpenberg, the largest UG base metal mine in the Nordics, and Kristineberg UG base metal mine on the list. They are also good mines to work at. They employ modern technologies like the other mines on your list.
