Beneath the Karakoram Mountains-some of the world’s tallest-winds the Hunza Valley of Pakistan, lined with fields and orchards. Once, Hunza was ruled by a prince, or Mir, first from the fort Altit, founded 1,000 years ago, and later, from the nearby Baltit Fort, also centuries old. In disrepair by the late 20th century, both forts have undergone major restoration work. Although historic, Hunza Valley is also socially forward-thinking, with high literacy in general, and a specific focus on education for girls. Women have also recently begun to practice carpentry, traditionally a male-dominated trade. One role for the new generation of carpenters has been repairs of the woodwork-rich historic sites.

Women in Hunza have recently begun to practice carpentry, traditionally a male-dominated trade. What are your thoughts on the Valley's steps towards progression?
Alcohol not included...rest great....alcohol need not highlighting...not an achievement really!
ALL women ( of all nationalities ) should have equal rights.
There should be no discrimination whatsoever.

Sometimes it is a good thing some places are not so publicized, the people there can live in peace out of the reach of prying eyes. However, a mere glimpse like this does spark intrigue.
CineFilms004 "happiest and safest" based off what?
Love from Pakistan.

Breathtaking! As an Indian I've always wanted to bike through the Karakoram highway. Maybe one day when our two countries become peaceful. Amen!
Off late, I have seen few Indian tourists as well. But, may be they were from Punjab & South India.

This place is better than Switzerland
This place in Pakistan but I don't know why western media doesn't show the real image of Pakistan
This happens to so many countries. For example what do you know about Greece? Do you know it's greatest secret of having 80% mountains? and thus it's many gorgeous mountainous regions all around and the mainland? No. So that is simply a metaphor for so much you don't know. You act as if we do Pakistan injustice on purpose, but in reality many of us are uneducated simpletons who never look beyond our 3 year old child's knowledge. Because really, YOU can know about Pakistan's or Greece's or any countries beauties IF you would have wanted. I by the way have done this already from when I was 4 years old. I always was very fascinated of the world. It's called curiosity. That is what is failing among many people. Don't make things just about western media this and that. Greece and other countries are IN the west and not only the west but the entire world doesn't know how gorgeous it really is. It is ranked always in the top 10, top 5, top 3 countries in the world in countless of rankings, and yet the things they show about Greece is only 1% of the country missing out it's 80% mountains.
So I understand your confusion why a gorgeous region like Northern Pakistan is not mentioned either. It's for the same reasons. And like Greece and Pakistan, believe me that there are many other countries with other own unique immense beauties.
Very good and attractive... Didn't had a clue that paskistan has such a beautiful location. And their tradition especially women empowerment is the best part. ❤️

That section anyway. It would probably b e a safe place within Pakistan for some Westerners (wouldn't assume all) to travel, provided it had its own discreet airport hub close enough in.
Pakistan has many many beautiful places this is just one of many. I have travelled all across Europe and I live in London but nothing beats the beauty of Pakistan for me. You should also look up Kashmir, swat, chitral, naran valley, and the many other valleys.
Yup hope that politics & religion won't harm those nature beauty 😊❤️

Stunning! I would love to get there someday. One thing made me nervous in the woodshop, those rotary tools, and very loose clothing (scarves/shawls hanging free).
You are welcome.

So beautiful Vali
Proud to be hunzai
Yo you Lucky bro
I loved that the women were learning carpentry skills, but winced when I saw their headscarfs dangling near the machinery
HKAY I think he winced because it's very dangerous wearing loose clothes near heavy machinery. It may lead to accidents.
Wearing headscarf is a safety measure too.
Proud to be a Pakistani💗
Pakistan have Everything except good people in the past Governments...So therefore Pakistan's soft picture was not coming in front of the World. But now I hope now world will know how much beautiful and peaceful is Pakistan. Pray for Pakistan...

PAKISTAN ZINDABAD 🇵🇰!
An incredibly rough and incredibly beautiful land.
Pakistan has a lot for tourists!
Oh my God, 🇵🇰 Pakistan is simply simply amazing.
Couldn't`t help but notice the young girls clothing were very loose on their upper bodies, especially around their arms. This is a very dangerous practice when working around machinery. If someone reads this comment who is in their area, please advise to wear closer fitting garments are clothe restraints.
Greetings from the UK.
John.
PatricK WithaKay.
Patrick Dear Heart, it was the first thing I noticed when these girls were working around machinery. You're quite right. Someone has to do something to protect them, includinging the hijab they wear that is also rather dangerous
Well I recently visited this area and they are starting to roll up their sleeves, wear an apron and using face protection.
dont you know that women are invincible/immortal and they are also holy angels? feminism is destroying society all over the earth.
Muhammad Ahsan Rashid.
Thank you Dear Heart, for adding this information since it does indicate there is an awareness of dressing for the job in protective wear and it is hoped they will create uniforms for their duties there. Let's hope they do something that will substitute for their hijabs and yet provide the religious observances they choose to observe. And I envy you having gone there and seen that beautiful place. Do you happen to know what is in the lake that gives it the Pacific blue color?
It's a common feature for water bodies of alpine/glacial in origin because of the rock flour (finely ground rock) that they collect while flowing down, the flour suspended in the water gives the appearance of the turquoise colour.
Insanely beautiful
This place is beautiful.
I visited this beautiful place twice and wish to visit many times more. No doubt heaven on earth. Nice scenery and tremendous hospitality.
Love it when a video like this comes up in my subscription feed
