@The505Guys I think him knowing what was coming fit, especially with the added scene of his family coming to him. Felt like Tommy was just waiting all that time till his past caught up with him, and when it finally does and he realizes none of his family is in the crossfire, he's content.

I love the new version in Definitive Edition. Tommy just accepting his fate fits better and his family being there when he goes makes it hurt a helluva lot more. And that “you’re safe now” from him to Sarah hit me like a truck. A perfect ending.
You feel that he could have still whoop those 2 people ass like he did back in his youth but no. He choose to let them kill him to put his family in security. He is even happy that he got a decade to live a happy life with his family. Best protagonist of the whole serie.
If he whacked them, they'll be on the run endlessly. Watching their backs non-stop. It was the only choice, the only way out of the mafia game. His death cut the connections of his own family from the mafia so by any means, they are nothing more but civilians.@@evgeniblanchard675
7:54 I like how Tommy turns off the hose, drops it and confidently says "Yes", in the remake Tommy knew what was about to happen at the moment he heard his name, and he accepted it.
My favorite thing about the new DE ending isn't just that Tommy seems to accept his fate, but that he is able to see his family before he dies. He even gets to tell them that they are all safe now.... Its really just a beautiful ending. Bittersweet for sure. But beautiful all the same.
@@roamfoam9653 Well the story is so perfect and the lines are almost the same that it don't feel like a Remake. But i can agree yes it's a Remake Because it looks beautiful and the bonus scenes that they put in.
I like the remastered part were he says "Yes". Because instead of being shocked he knew that one of these days his past will come back and bite him. "You can never out run your passed"
I think it’s awesome how it started playing Mafia II’s violin theme. That’s how you knew Vito and Joe were coming in. The only time you ever hear that theme is in this scene. It’s not just reused. It’s only for this one part. I love it. 2K played us good here. Release date was on the day Tommy Angelo dies. Mafia II theme added to it. Brought back Vitos voice for that one line. And Tommy gave a good story. It’s unique how they showed him bleeding out and telling his family that everything is fine. He saw it coming and knew how it would end.
Vito and Joe look very consistent here! If anyone remembers the assassination took place a day after the Chinatown massacre. Both men are obviously whittled down by seeing Henry get butchered and their money getting scooped up. Joe looks disheaveled after a night of heavy drinking and Vito looks like he's scared shitless and perturbed by the uncertainty of their circumstances.
The ending in the remake really had me in my feels. They really did a great job fleshing out Tommy and Sarah's relationship, so the fact that they show her run to him while he's dying really hit me hard. I do like that the ending in the original is really harsh and shows that Tommy couldn't escape his past. The scene was done very well in all three games.
Such a basic half ass quote. Like the original way more. In the remake they just slapped some fast and furious type line on it to make it seem "deep". Really disappointed in the whole remake but especially the ending scene.
@@ranma2942 honestly? I don't think he got the chair, sure he helped criminals. But he never killed anyone!... I hope we can see him being older in a next mafia game, maybe mafia 4 set in the 70s... Or at least someone related to him
I like the very subtle nod at 8:03 and the extremely subtle smile of acknowledgement at 8:07. As soon as he heard "Mr. Angelo" he knew the deal and accepted his fate. This is the difference between the original and the remake.
Least he was murdered by (at least from his perspective) some unknown goons and not people he considered his friends and family, and he got to secure his wife and kids before he went out.
Mafia OG : *Fear* Mafia 2 : *Surprised* Mafia Definitive Edition : *Acceptance* It's like Tommy fate is destined to be this way no matter how many his life restarts but he started to get used to a point he accepted it.Kinda tragic tbh.
I like how in the remake they decided to make Tommy show once Vito said Mr. Angelo, like he knew this was the moment he gets assassinated but he just decided to accept it and basically said Yes like “Just get it done with, but keep my family safe.”
I prefer Tommy's original monolouge over the definitive one. On the other hand I really like that in the new one he instantly realises what's going on, just by being called Mr. Angelo.
So beautiful how content Tommy is with death. It's unfortunate, it's not ideal, but he still accepts it. And he views it as worthy because his family is forever safe.
I like how DE added those extra scenes at end BUT the message at the end of the OG on how people need to find balance feels a lot better than "family is forever huehue its a pun cause the mafia got him in the end and he was also with his family"
i prefer DE message. "Balance" is more cliche i think, everybody knows that balance is important in life. But words "family is forever" are more interesting since his "family" is about to kill him. You can't leave mafia family, you are in until you die naturally or you get killed by it.
8:21 I feel like there’s a purpose to this kid, whoever he is (his son?); they dedicate a whole shot for him here - and also the bigger guy putting his hand on his shoulder. This can’t be random.
Wouldn’t hurt to have one upgrade the shooting, graphics, combat (properly), and some other stuff especially when the remaster came out recently and it’s underperforming.
Angel Valdez the only thing I didn’t like about Mafia:DE was the fact that it used Mafia 3’s lackluster shooting mechanics, ugh it was a huge turnoff but I still enjoyed the game none the less.
Actually Vito did worse than Tommy. Henry was brought into the fold by Vito but Vito didn’t know the guy was a rat. My point is, despite how Tommy willingly ratted out Salieri, what Vito did seemed to have doomed the Falcone family (as Eddie is unaccounted for), and unlike Tommy, Vito killed his Don.
This game is incredible, even at 4:51 Tommy shuts one eye more than the other when thinking about his family. Trying not to think about them, he does this a few times throughout the story if you're sharp you'll see what I mean,
I hope not. Mafia 2's engine was perfect. Too good to be fucked by Mafia 3's edgy glitch ridden engine. Though not gonna lie; adding more cut/ eta missions n features and an actually flushed out Joe's Adventures would be nice though.
Wish they could’ve made the scene like the original, I liked the way Tommy died, he felt that after so many years he escaped the life only for it to come biting back. Not only that the music and Tommy’s original monologue really made the scene which really showed the tragedy of being in the Mafia. The remake gave off a more menacing tone with the music which ruined the scene for me, because you’re meant to feel sad, not scared of what’s to come.
Tommy kinda knows here that he is going to die ... I think this makes things comfortable and not that dramatic ... the shock on his face in the original made it better, the life he had not "ended" he was just out watering shit. Here its a full circle, he was ready for it, kinda waiting for it and could happen anytime. When they say his name it is not an accident that he answers "Yes" he admits that he is the one they looking for. This not makes this a bad ending, I just prefer the one that is way less comfortable or acceptable.
Nah, think about it. Here Toms character is complete. Original Tommy was not, so his life is actually the price he paid. This is why we should feel like crap, to feel the moral of the story, to feel more his story.
Yes true, the shocking ending was better in my opinion, even if you wait your whole life for someone to whack you and ur mentally prepared to accept this kind of ending, you still be surprised when the actual moment will come, I love this ending too cuz we can see what happened after he got shot, this is a beautiful ending.
That was a Shock. I didn't play the Original and i totally forgot that Scene from Mafia II. The Moment i saw him watering his Garden it clicked in my Head. A very sad Moment 😢
It would be hilarious if this had an “Edge of Tomorrow” twist. Instead of Tom Cruise waking up at a military base, Tommy wakes up in his cab 🚕 in 1930 every time. lol 😂.
Vito: mr. Angelo? Tommy from the original: 😰Uh…yes?😰 Tommy from the Remake: 😔Yes.😏 Tommy from the Remake went out like a true gangster, and a family man.
The ending was so depressing holy shit I need a good while to recover. I can never look at Vito and Joe in the same light again especially after playing mafia 2 before this remake
I like how Tommy has died 3 times already so this time in DE he’s just not even surprised anymore.

Exactly. Great comment.

I like the very subtle nod at 8:03 and the extremely subtle smile of acknowledgement at 8:07. As soon as he heard "Mr. Angelo" he knew the deal and accepted his fate. This is the difference between the original and the remake.
The remake version is the best, i love that they changed up the way he reacts and that his family comes out and he gets to tell them it's okay
The new ending is outstanding. Just heartbreaking that Tommy can die calmly knowing that his family is safe with his death.
Least he was murdered by (at least from his perspective) some unknown goons and not people he considered his friends and family, and he got to secure his wife and kids before he went out.
Mafia OG : *Fear*
Mafia 2 : *Surprised*
Mafia Definitive Edition : *Acceptance*
It's like Tommy fate is destined to be this way no matter how many his life restarts but he started to get used to a point he accepted it.Kinda tragic tbh.
I like how in the remake they decided to make Tommy show once Vito said Mr. Angelo, like he knew this was the moment he gets assassinated but he just decided to accept it and basically said Yes like “Just get it done with, but keep my family safe.”
They definitly went for a more dramatic movie feel with the remake, while the original would probably be a more realistic stituation.
I prefer Tommy's original monolouge over the definitive one. On the other hand I really like that in the new one he instantly realises what's going on, just by being called Mr. Angelo.
I think being called his original name would give it away pretty quickly
Vito : Mr Angelo?
Tommy : Uh No?
Vito: Crap Joe wrong house
Joe: Vito, da fuck ya talkin' about? He looks just like the fucking picture!
The fact nobody is talking about how good Vito and Joe looks they couldn’t make them look like that in mafia 2 remastered 🤦🏻♂️
So beautiful how content Tommy is with death. It's unfortunate, it's not ideal, but he still accepts it. And he views it as worthy because his family is forever safe.
The monologue at the end of the original felt like a high schooler trying to meet his paper's word requirement.
Only after playing the Mafia remake I now know why that scene in Mafia 2 is so significant. Damn
In Mafia 4 Tommy's daughter gets revenge by killing Vito with a golf club 🏌♀️

ahh shit here we go again
I like how DE added those extra scenes at end BUT the message at the end of the OG on how people need to find balance feels a lot better than "family is forever huehue its a pun cause the mafia got him in the end and he was also with his family"
i prefer DE message. "Balance" is more cliche i think, everybody knows that balance is important in life. But words "family is forever" are more interesting since his "family" is about to kill him. You can't leave mafia family, you are in until you die naturally or you get killed by it.

Damn Tommy dying is always just too sad and I still think he deserves to live longer
1:31 this scene is emotional and those dialogue quotes. I know the Mafia Definitive has a better ending but this is more emotional..
Tommy ratted out his boss
as a result, he died
Vito ratted out his boss
as a result, he is alive and well and ruling the streets
Vito didn’t rat out his boss?? He co-signed Henry the rat and the family would not forgive him for that so he was sent away
Trying not to think about them, he does this a few times throughout the story if you're sharp you'll see what I mean,
When mr salieri sends his regards but it gets lost in the mail twice

As soon as he heard the words mr Angelo in the definitive edition he knew his time was up no fight or anything just sits back and accepts his fate
But in this one Tommy knows he's gonna die
The OG voice actor was so good
I like both but the young one was amazing too
Tommy kinda knows here that he is going to die ...
Weirdo
Nah, think about it. Here Toms character is complete. Original Tommy was not, so his life is actually the price he paid. This is why we should feel like crap, to feel the moral of the story, to feel more his story.
Yes true, the shocking ending was better in my opinion, even if you wait your whole life for someone to whack you and ur mentally prepared to accept this kind of ending, you still be surprised when the actual moment will come, I love this ending too cuz we can see what happened after he got shot, this is a beautiful ending.
I actually really like how in the remake he says yes like hes accepted what's about to happen and that his family comes running to his side.
That was a Shock. I didn't play the Original and i totally forgot that Scene from Mafia II. The Moment i saw him watering his Garden it clicked in my Head. A very sad Moment 😢
