People don't get that great college players can be great in college, but not necessarily make it as pros. Fryer got everything out of his six foot, two - inch frame. In this game, he was a straight Cold Assassin.
Lenny Padilla wow that would’ve been awesome to see in person! To my knowledge the people in the arena are the only ones to have seen the whole game due to the network cutting away to other games in the second half
I used to live a few blocks north of the Long Beach Arena. I remember going to a few Long Beach State basketball games there. I've since moved but I've heard Long Beach State now plays in a new arena. Is the old Long Beach Arena still standing?
They lost to UNLV by 30+. Hank Gathers wasn’t going to make up a 30 point deficit. UNLV beat them at their own game. Outran them and outgunned them. They play that game 100 times and UNLV wins 99 maybe 100. That was the best team in history of college basketball.
@@dd212NYC Tark the Shark put that team together and it wasn't quite by the book. But yes, they were very good. Tark's legacy is tarnished forever tho.
@@dd212NYC 99 out of 100? That's probably a little strong lol ... the played them early in the season in the preseason NIT and it was a close game so to say that even if they had Gathers they'd have no chance isn't really accurate.
@@dd212NYC I honestly think Gathers would have made a difference, I mean that's a 29 ppg scorer they didn't have, and once you get down 15 things start to compound so they ran it up.
You said you cut off the last 4 minutes of the game because LMU was starting to "slow things down..." (!) They still scored 18 points in the last four minutes with their "run the clock" offense!!! 😜🤣🤣

The original broadcast cut to two other games in the second half which is why there are some good possessions missing
When they cut away to the Minnesota game and Loyola went from a 10 to a 20 point lead
This was so inspiring to watch! They obviously had heavy hearts!
Jeff Fryer is one of the most underrated great college players ever. UNREAL shooter.
Ahead of his time!

Should be noted that UM had 5 NBA draft picks on this squad including 3 first-rounders and a frontline of 6-9, 6-9 and 6-10.
And of course they were the defending national champs.
Thank you for uploading this
Ade Betts no problem! I just wish the full game without cuts to other games existed somewhere
This game changed the way I saw the game of basketball
Now everyone plays it
I was actually at this game. It was in Long Beach, California.

@@jasonknox1268 As far as I know
Kinda crazy they running they offense like its modern nba
Fr more shooting and fast pace offense as a random kid searching up old tapes LMU really surprised me
Bo Kimble never saw a shot he didn’t like. LOL
They lost to UNLV I think had they had Hank Gathers who died in their conference tournament they could have beaten UNLV they were fun to watch

@@Ichifate they lost by double digits with Gathers in there at full strength earlier in that season.
Here after Murray State scored 173 points against Greenville on 11/29/20.
UNLV student at that time sat in Loyla section with Hank hankies. Amazing game.
Behold the 2020 Houston rockets.

The Gurus of Go!!
Ball doesn't stay in the backcourt very long for LMU. Three seconds of possession and they're already across midcourt and in your face with dagger 3s
Watching their defense was more fun imo
Offense Looks very similar to the style the Lakers play D Re then pile on thepoints ‘Bron is what Bank was to LMU
Doesn’t prove too effective but it is fun to watch! R.I.P. HG!!!
I mean they were 26-6, so it was pretty effective.
Was there

The whole LMU team won that game....but Jeff Fryer mailed the coffin. Never seen a performance like that until this Luca guy showed up.....
