Young man, as men we love our mothers. Maybe dad was abit tough, he looks tough anyway but look at your mum and the pain and hell she is going through. Even keep in touch with her. Mpigie, mwambie kama uko sawa or not. Give her assurance and closure by telling her ile kitu ilifanya uhepe. Give your mum the peace of mind she deserves.

Never compare kids against each other. This guy must have felt like a burden to his parents. Spending all that money on expensive schools must have felt like a waste of money to this guy. So instead he decided to do what he thought was best for himself. Parents can sometimes have hard stands on education and for a child who is not good academically, it's demoralizing. That guy will go home only when he is successful to prove a point to them trust me.

      True.
God placed Authority on Parents...to train..guide and provide for their children.
And the same God ORDERED the children to obey their parents.
The Bible is clear on THIS.
Nowadays, the children want to tell parents and order them around.
This brings confusion and pain to parents mostly.
Children please obey your parents even when its not what you want at that moment
Later you shall be happy because Blessings shall follow you.
Do not cause pain to your parents.
God sees and knows it all.

I have red most comment, almost everyone is pointing a finger at the parents, For wanting the best for their son... come on people be wise. Which parent deserve to suffer for giving too much love to a child.
We all know how rogue matatu business is, and those who owns them, buy them from the proceeds of other careers or businesses. They wanted a plan B for him a fall back plan..
The best thing you can do is to give them leads and prayers on how to find Kinuthia. The rest is actually irrelevant.
kinuthia your parents love you from here to the moon. reciprocate the love by coming back home, look at the pain in their eyes and just let them know where you are.
Your siblings K,G , K and all who loved you looking towards the gate, with a silent prayer hoping one day the wait will be over.

This is what happens when parents impose their dreams on their children. At that age comparing your kids with others or insisting that what you choose for them is the best for them be it schools, courses, jobs etc can be detrimental and as parents we need to listen and respect our kid's choices as much as we advice them. In this case they tried to impose accountancy on him not considering his interests probably to keep a good family image. I hope Kinuthia is fine wherever he is and he will one day return home to his parents.
Let it be a lesson to others out there too

True, but I hope that at 34 years old he has come to realize that his parents were doing what they thought was best for him. The parents seem well off, so it could be that he fears his current status will be a disappointment to his parents.

Ngai, this is so sad and I do relate! I brought my daughter to europe and uponn me wanting to return home she by then was 18years and her choice was not to join me .
I left her under a good care but little did I know she met wrong friends whereby she started using drug:( which she reported herself to me.
I went under depression arranging how she could could get help which she did but kept falling off.
today she is 31 years ....she does call me but always with insult accussing me for her down falls :(
God have mercy to us mothers out there who are going through this and God almighty protect us and may he God almighty heel our children.
Pole sana Mama mwenzangu! be strong coz you not alone .

Whether he wanted business in contrast to his parents preference for education is irrelevant. His parents have really gone through torture. He should at least open up and say what made him disappear. His dad has openly admitted to giving equal share of his property to him. He needs to reflect too
