Honestly, at the service, mine needed the valves adjusted and made a hell of a difference. Bags can be painted with outdoor furniture paint and it lasts. This particular bike needs some TLC. Very fun ride.
damn i used to have this exact year, color and model. rode from SF to Bend oregon and back and all over bay area with it over the course of a year. Traded it + money for a BMW s1000XR and now on a multistrada v4s back in Georgia. But every time I see one of these I get nostalgic for the awesome little whip that it is.
I own the 2016 with the 937 aka 939. The stock windscreen buffeted wind horribly, so I upgraded to a 3 inch taller Puig which made a world of difference and now feels like a true tourer. Thanks for the awesome review Chase 👍
@@jamesbarber8308 buy the bike or windscreen? Love the bike and windscreen probably depend on your height. I’m 5’10 and like I said made a huge difference. If you’re buying the bike congratulations 🎉
I've taken my screen off and the clean air is better than the buffeting of the stock screen. Wind noise ia also gentler and easily controlled with earplugs. Getting a shield the size of the reviewed model to cover the clocks and GPS. Just did a 3 hour trip between 70 - 90 mph, some rain and wind, and no issues.
I've had mine since 2014. Over the years I've done a couple of mods: The suspension needed service, so I said, why not just get new components - labor costs are labor costs, and the OEM is not very good. Got full nitron and it is great. Also put in the clutch pack judder spring upgrade that transforms the grabby clutch. This is over the course of 9 years - it was good out of the box - now it is better. I did remove the bar risers, and I did keep the screen. If I was buying one today - I'd make sure the recalls were done, including the canbus filter. I'd have the TCU checked by a dealer (they have to read the SN off the actual bike part) to see if it is on the replacement list. All this is free. And being a ducati - if you don't have service records, just have the belts and valves done. The engine has a punch that is lovely for powering out of a curve or (very) quick passing. When you hit 6k rpm, you get to the belly of the beast and it is so much fun - really a riot of sound and power.
I've heard a lot of complaints about the hypermotard of this year. I've got one, but with the seat from this hyperstrada. I think it's the best bike I've ever ridden (a lot of different machines over the years) The reliability is definitely questionable.. But it really is an amazing bike to enjoy
You aren't revving it. It will shove you back in the seat, but 6k and over is where you get that second hit. It's the same engine as the SP - give it the beans.
Maybe not this bike specifically because it’s basically a Hypermotard with Multistrada bits. But the Hypermotard I think is in a class with middleweight naked bikes. Just excluding the Street Triple because that is way too refined. That’s a legit naked sport bike.
I had one, the front brake is known for the squishy caliper, I used to put a rubber band on mine after every ride to try and get the air out, never worked. Never did find out if there was a fix for it. I sold mine because I wanted more of an adventure bike and the steering lock on these won't let you do a u turn on narrow roads.
OC: It seems more Euorpean focused. American touring is 65+ MPH four lanes. In the US it would be a highway tourer. This bike can take you to Blood Mountain on the interstate just fine. But 19 from ATL to Cumming is not as much fun as from Cumming on up. And once it gets on 115, then it's found it's happy place. For me, commuting and rolling through the BRP. I'll find some 3 digits to get me to and from each end.
@@duongto1252 There is actually not that much difference between the 821 and the 939 that we were talking about. If you are talking about the new 950 then thank you for that info If I were ever to buy one.
moderately undependable. The only concern at this point would be the infamous electronics meltdown. IO had it and Ducati replaced everything for free - well out of warranty. By this time, 10 years later, most everything should be sorted.
That was soooooo long ago. He couldn't be bothered to locate the fusebox and replace a fuse. I think every bike has their snowcat: don't listen to anybody and everything sucks.
9:10 and replay at 9:26 for what you might thought was photoshop on early 00's internet' viral photos. By the way, I own this bike (white too) and it's awesome. Very entertaining, but long trips are not it's thing. No wind pretection (even with the stock windsheeld). It definately is NOT a touring bike. And low RPM power is very good, I don't understand why you say it's not much. The problem is that it can't hold a low speed steadily. It jumps up and down, can't hold low rpm - low speed smoothly.
Ducati only made it for 5 years because it's a pos (or at least the one I had was a POS with electrical gremlins, refusal to crank, limp modes, painfully soft suspension etc), I think they only made it initially to have something before new multi.
@@jbrosupra 821 hyper was trash, this is an even trashier version of it with heavier flywheel, lower/softer suspension, center stand, lower seat etc. 950 Hyper is a decent hooligan bike, I mean a naked bike cosplaying as a supermoto (something like 690/701 is more of a real supermoto for the road), Strada is a dumb version of it that pretends to be more usable. @ 1:00 torque is listed as 89ft-lb. Not sure where that came from but it’s actually 72ft-lb
rear wheel i guess
They 100% posted the wrong specs. They put nm of torque as if they were ftlb.

I can cruise between 80 and 90mph on the slab. But yes - it is a backroad warrior that can carry all your gear.
