Congratulations on coming up with a great concept! Congratulations also to each of your contributors. Not only good content, but a well edited production. Mention was made of how each tree is unique and how important it is to have a good plan for each component of an operation. I would like to see more videos where the planning was included, if even briefly.
Im 17, last month i saw a video by you and it inspired me to start tree care, since then i have bought a few saws and some climbing gear and started teaching myself from youtube and a crazy tree surgeon, cheers dude keep up the youtube
It's always nice to get others perspective on tree climbing and what a blend of talents you have here and the abundant amount of experience too. This is a great video for anyone examining whether or not tree climbing is for them or not. I am like all you guys, all the way in too at this point. Way to connect this all together in yet another amazing video. I appreciated seeing and hearing all of you guys' experiences. Good job!
Nice vid. Getting into peoples head and making them think about not trying to be a millionaire; but being who they were created to be and doing it 100% because it is what they love. Sorry for commenting on old videos, I just found your channel and am catching up.
Wow- I never thought I'd find a vid like this about my work and life. I'm an old timer now but I remember praying right b4 I cut my first scary top loose that god would let me live to see and hold my first born. Things get real when you step away from your comfort zone. I really liked when you talked about if it mattered knowing that your wife and kids didn't understand what your day was like. I really felt that one. thanks for the great vid - I'm looking forward to more!
Tree work is the best man. It just is. Every tree is different. You are always learning, testing yourself. You can work anywhere on earth where there's trees. Its satisfying. You get fresh air all day. Not many CAN do it. The smells of it...the sounds...I wouldn't want to do anything else, no way.
August, thanks for making/sharing these videos. It takes a special person to do what you guys do. Made for this is absolutely true. I could never do it, but in a way, it looks so fun.
August, I am not an arborist/ climber, but I do get it. The things you guys/ gals do just completely amazes me every time I see it. Another thing is that I dont think that people understand the consequences how much damage a tree can do if it falls on something. You guys save so many lives and property on a daily. Thank you for that and thanks for sharing this. As Buckin' would say, "I love it!!"
I like your stuff guy. I have to tell you that you totally hit the nail on the head when you talk about how family or friends just don't get it when they ask about your day. I deal with the same thing on a daily basis. My in-laws think I'm a landscaper cutting hedges and complain when I don't have the energy to entertain them at the end of my day climbing and bidding. Thanks for relating.
incredible! tree guys should comment their favorite sounds and any injuries out of the norm as so the gang can learn. Lots of strange things happen. amen you guys rock !
I love your vids watch them every morning before I go out and preform this job I love. I will be posting my go pro vids soon I've started climbing with one and still getting use to it. Be safe and climb high see y'all soon!!!
I'm not actually Batman, I just play him on August vids ;p looks like i really took role & ran with it, hehe. Travor & crew shuld have their own reality show, think it wuld be awesome.
gréât video ! ! wondering if you gona present other great arborist of your tribe ; ) part i liked . .how did people get into it ! the spark when discover that job ! again great work fellas its a blast to follow all of ya !best regards from france
I saw the bee video like a year ago and I wanted to show someone else but I couldn't remember who posted it.. Travor handles those like a total boss. Keeps his cool and keeps going, love it! Awesome video, August. A few future issue ideas.. how about Reg Coates, Graeme McMahon, Mat Fernandez, Buckin Billy Ray, Tarzan Thomas, Daniel Murphy, Kevin Bingham, and/or Richard Mumford?
Man I have worked as a Tree-man AKA Arborist from age twelve as a pro to this very day. I am 50 years old now. For me it was not so much made for this. It was born into this. More like it has always been a part of me. I owned a tree service and land clearing/logging service from 1989 to 2000 (age 19 to 30) out of Seattle, WA I moved more into trucking and heavy equipment and just do tree work part time now days. People know me, trust me, and want me to do their work. So I do the tree work. It is fun most of the time. They are the people that helped me pay the bills. So if they ask me to climb. I climb and I am happy to do it. :)
Absolutely 100% love your videos. Hopefully in the not so far future, I'll have the time to make some of my own. They're educational and give people a little view into what we do. Our days are all numbered, so we have to make hay while the sun shines. Nothing is more satisfying and gratifying than a tree job well done, when everyone gets to go home safe at the end of a job. Even jumping out of airplanes is boring compared to our day to day life.
This is probly the best video you have made august thats my biggest hurdle wife not understanding or customers and i let them get me in a pinch sometimes when they dont have money
Amazing video, very much liked it. Must say your causing me some anxiety though, driving me nuts wondering how the paint on that 880 turned out! We going to see it soon?
I never knew Laurence was from philly I kinda had a hunch but figured you grew up In New York it awesome seeing other climbers working around the country and in. England stay safe guys see you in the trees and thanks for the videos august always awesome
A question that came to mind right after seeing the close call at 11:05 was how important are the crew? I can't imagine your rope man allowing a big piece to swing back at the climber if he's been told to let it run a bit. You work as a team and it is poetry in motion. I see quite a lot of running in your videos. When one of the lads needs to be somewhere - and especially if it is to get to where someone else needs a hand - they don't waste time, and they don't need to think about it. They get there fast but safely, and everyone goes home safe and happy when the tree is chipped and squared away. That must be an important aspect of any lead arborist's operation.
Big fan my tree brother. In your video you asked about embarrassing moments. I've owned my own Tree Service for 20 years, I'm a 3rd generation tree climber. But when I was 16 and thought I knew it all, I butt caught a 30ft top on a natural crotch which is basic but I used a small diameter let down rope trying to show off and of course the rope popped and hit a water main in the subdivision I was working in. I knocked out water for over 3,000 homeowners. Humility is something I didn't know about but learned real quick.
Enjoyed the video as always. I was amazed at the different perspectives and I liked the family perspective. I work with my wife, daughter and boys in our business. No outside workers, although that may change. Working only with family definitely has it's challenges, but I think the rewards outweigh them. I wouldn't trade climbing with my wife and boys for anything! My wife is a master at "letting it run".
Great video. I used to be an "IT" database administrator for 15 years and my wife or anybody else never really understood what I did... I'm not 100% sure that I did either in that it would be difficult to explain just what was involved and what was at stake..... only another DBA would understand... but even they wouldn't understand 100% unless they worked in a similar shop where DBA's had similar responsibilities.
Top vid, with great questions and answers! from a Tree Surgeon watching I can totally relate and makes me ask myself the same questions. And to take my gopro to more jobs.
25 years climbing started out climbing towers when that got slow worked with a tree co in Charlotte NC and got bit by the bug and never looked back. Just turned 50 and I'm in the saddle 5-6 days a week with at least 20 more to go God willing. Rock on brothers
Good vid. And no, it doesn't really matter what you do, folks who don't do it won't/can't fully understand. You're right when you say it's more important to understand than to be understood. Rock on.
That was super awesome August I love the end. I got voluntary work in the summer of 1989 but are you and Mike called me up and says hey bro you want to work start off as a groundsman. Little over 20 years later I got my certified arborist then I got my server tree worker went backwards I was born in 1969 I've never made made a RUclips video but seeing all the work knowing what I've done over the years. I sure have seen some interesting things my life all related to tree work. Thanks for being awesome.
Really good video. Good subject. Good thoughts and interesting answers. Found myself answering. Good job editing as well. I don’t tell my wife very much. She would worry more than she does.
August I hope this doesn't sound too cliche but when when I have a few consecutive days when I'm not in the trees working grinding it out I get some sort of anxiety.. watching you guys on RUclips especially this vid in particular it calms me down I feel at peace
Another great one August. That pretty well sums why we do what we do. Here's to all the low profile guys out there that never get on camera. The arboreal acrobatic artists that love life in the limbs, the maestros of mayhem that put their own life and limbs on the line for family and customer.

I called a local bee keeper who came over and sucked out the hive and then found the queen in a swarm the next day on some downed branches, so he scored a new hive (about 100$) and they gave me a grip of honey.
its was good to hear even guys like you guys the brst of the best have had imbarressing times doing this. ive had one and it was really hard to stay and face the people that seen it not to mention the home owner but i did and it was imbarressing and i dont wanna ever experence that again.
Hey guys. Call a beekeeper if you find bees. We know how to deal with them without jumping out of trees and running away. I face palmed when I saw that guy cutting the hive in half.
Wow I've been there and it sucks. Needless to say I didnt stay as calm as travor did. I've only been climbing for like 6 months and I love it. I'm not great at limb walks yet but I manage. I switched to this industry after doing electric work for 15 years. Now I cant see myself doing anything else. I already got a vermeer mini skid, stump grinder, and bc1000 chipper. Oh and my dump trailer. Bucket truck or lift is next.
I live in Pinellas!!! shout out to Travor. I like this video makes me feel like I'm not alone. even with a family, like Travor said "they don't get it unless there up there dealing with it".
this is your best vid yet! i suppose relating climbing is like relating combat. probably for the same reason that no sane person would want to do it. there is no way to relate unless the person your talking to has been there, and those who haven't couldn't care less. what was the old saying? if i have to explain it, you won't understand. lol. both are super fun, super scary, super dangerous... but something keeps you coming back for more. climb safe.
Well that video was great.. A bit corny at times but really insightful... I've been climbing 2 years now and I can't even tell you all its done for me, really cool hearing others thoughts... Thanks man.
As a tree man, I really can appreciate this one, August! Thank you for putting it together. Thouroghly enjoyed it.
Likewise. I appreciate every one of them.

What a great video ! So glad you highlighted it for us late comers August (1 year of watching now)
Great video, love the contrast of Travor's fun, Dan's honesty and Lawrence's humour. Keep it up!! Sam

"I AM RockandRoll!!!" Lawrence drops the best line of the year!

If you asked those questions of Buckin' he start singing his song. 🎵 'He's a Wood Man... uses files to wipe his bum' 🎵
August, Zi am glad you presented this aspect of it. I am 74 years old female and I always wanted to be in trees. So I did next thing I danced a lot!

The tree life chose me! Love it. Awesome video.
It is gratifying to be passionate about the calling you have to any work. I found that to be a most interesting video.
My goodness, would not expect this caliber of talent in grant pass. I'm proud to say I am an Oregonian. Stay alive and thrive young man.
Thanks
This is probly the best video you have made august thats my biggest hurdle wife not understanding or customers and i let them get me in a pinch sometimes when they dont have money
Another great vid worth watching! smoker and veil/suit are cheap save the hive!
the sound of a climbing saw idling down and the wind being displaced by a plummeting top then the crack of impact with the ground
August I love your videos, thank you for your teaching, regards from Medellín - Colombia.
Amazing video, very much liked it. Must say your causing me some anxiety though, driving me nuts wondering how the paint on that 880 turned out! We going to see it soon?

+Justin Combs that’s do it 😁
Very courageous telling about misshaps and other mistakes...
Really enjoyed the video, and Dan's comment at the end, "guess they just don't watch enough RUclips"
Awesome August! Well done mate... And dam those bloody bee's, better than hornets but not much.. great video MB..
it chose me! love it. my wife just said u just got home and now your watching other dudes cut trees. NO They dont get it.🖒👊
😆😆lol sorry
+August Hunicke is it bad when u luagh at other guys getting stung. ha ha it happened to us two weeks ago
+Josh Mullinnex what a coincidence, I get hysterical with laughter when other people are getting stung. So, no, I don't think it's bad.
By the way, tell your wife I will try to make the vid shorter next time.
+August Hunicke thats funny i said i only have 14 more minutes. she was like those vids r that long whatttttt the heck!😂

Absolutely!!
Nothing more fun than a hard hat full of bees lol.

Really good video. Good subject. Good thoughts and interesting answers. Found myself answering.
Good job editing as well. I don’t tell my wife very much. She would worry more than she does.
arboristBlairGlenn thanks, I think moms worry,. Wives. . . I’ve come to believe they mostly worry about making whatever current changes they are into.
August Hunicke can’t argue that one! The end of the day, the wife can’t begin to understand.
August I hope this doesn't sound too cliche but when when I have a few consecutive days when I'm not in the trees working grinding it out I get some sort of anxiety.. watching you guys on RUclips especially this vid in particular it calms me down I feel at peace
Because of all this quarantine I have been home last 2 weeks and I watch this vid to calm my anxiety and I came across this comment hahaha
Another great one August. That pretty well sums why we do what we do. Here's to all the low profile guys out there that never get on camera. The arboreal acrobatic artists that love life in the limbs, the maestros of mayhem that put their own life and limbs on the line for family and customer.

best tree surgeon video I have seen
Does any of you guys have any equipment that you don't use anymore?
Another nice one August, best part was Lawrence at 16:50 (PFannerman rocks)
Hey August..this is Jan from germany..far away but very impressed about your work and videos..thumbs up..

Should do another one of these
I called a local bee keeper who came over and sucked out the hive and then found the queen in a swarm the next day on some downed branches, so he scored a new hive (about 100$) and they gave me a grip of honey.
Good video 👍. Measure twice and cut once. Arborist caculate 20 times and cut once.
You hit a homerun with this one!
Shultz is a crazy person i like it lol
its was good to hear even guys like you guys the brst of the best have had imbarressing times doing this. ive had one and it was really hard to stay and face the people that seen it not to mention the home owner but i did and it was imbarressing and i dont wanna ever experence that again.
Hang in there. Hard work pays off and leads to greater times. Hard lessons also lead to greater times for those that will be taught by them.
@@AugustHunicke thank you. really means alot coming from you August. i really enjoy all your videos.
Super great video!❤❤❤❤❤
wow! Nice to hear i'm not the only one,who has scars, and break some stuff from time to time...
we've all broken things
Brilliant vid august, really interesting incite into you monkey beaver folk! ...... be safe.
Hey guys. Call a beekeeper if you find bees. We know how to deal with them without jumping out of trees and running away. I face palmed when I saw that guy cutting the hive in half.
Wow I've been there and it sucks. Needless to say I didnt stay as calm as travor did.

I enjoyed that way too much.

Great vid with a different spin on it.
wow such a great video........ nice job
Excellent ... just excellent
Really enjoyed it!
this is your best vid yet! i suppose relating climbing is like relating combat. probably for the same reason that no sane person would want to do it. there is no way to relate unless the person your talking to has been there, and those who haven't couldn't care less. what was the old saying? if i have to explain it, you won't understand. lol. both are super fun, super scary, super dangerous... but something keeps you coming back for more. climb safe.
