    I have added rj-45 crimper and a bag of cat5 and 6 crimps. As well as a Fluke network cable mapper. Never envisioned a day where I would make more network connectors than XLRs.
    But with audio over ip that is the case.
    Being able to check network cables has solved a lot of issues.

      Great idea. You're totally right in that more and more of our world is category cable based rather than XLR!

    Thanks for sharing Michael! Wondering if you could do a video explaining how you bill for install work? Similar to your "How to Make Money as a Live Audio Engineer" video, but geared towards install. For context I am also a full time freelancer, but would love some tips on how to manage the finances of taking install work when shows slow down during the winter.

    Nice video Michael. Can you share the specs on your Thinkpad for us please? I'm in the same boat as you with needing to run Ease Focus, Powersoft Armonia and other audio system software that is PC only. I really want a laptop with an Ethernet port (Armonia) so I've been looking at a used Dell Latitude 5420, but my options are open. FWIW I have a travel first aid kit in my gig bag along with a small selection of OTC meds like Ibuprofen, Imodium, DayQuil etc. I would put my flashlight and my custom hearing protection as my co-number ones that I never leave home without. I have my equipment split between my regular gig bag for production work and mixing, and then a second backpack with my audio measurement gear.

    Hi, Michael. Have been following your channel since forever and you've been making greeeeaaattt content! Congratulations on all the success that's coming your way.
    I had a quick question.
    How are you using 4 measurement mics with your evo8? I mean I'm guessing with the reference input coming in via Loopback. But I've measured the difference and have found that the loopback situation adds 0.59ms of additional delay. Correct me if I'm wrong. But doesn't the evo also get added to the measurement chain? How do you go about it? Or do you just consider the relative delays and deal with the fact the all the values from Delay Finder have an additional 0.59ms?

    • @MichaelCurtisAudio
      @MichaelCurtisAudio  Год назад +1

      Hey, Joyjeet. Thanks for the kind words!
      And yes, you got it on the last point. I just know that all delay finder delays have an extra .59ms or so delay and there's a slight variance in the phase graph in the HF. Since all mics are subject to this same delay and change in the data, I'm not worried about it since 99% of my work is comparative, not absolute. Hope this helps!

      If it's a normal A1 production gig I don't carry any since the production company will have some. If I'm tuning a system I carry four 100ft XLR cables in my suitcase.
