@hachewie that's fair, here once they're old the registration isn't bad and insurance is only bad for the first one if that makes sense. It is a massive pity that governments and such treat enthusiasts the same as the regular person, you can only use one at a time so why not be a bit more lenient with a second and third etc.
I am very lucky to not have a significant person in my life to tell me to buy the replacement windows my house needs or any babies stealing my money for their college funds so am a multibike kinda guy, and hopefully will be able to be for many many years. IT very much feels like we are being legislated out of existance though, so maybe one day I will be a zero bike kinda guy... hopefully my heart will have stopped pumping by then.
When I was a bricklayer in the heat of Summer in Aus (40+ degrees celsius in the heat of the day), Daylight savings meant finishing work before the heat was torturous (or more torturous than it already was). Daylight savings is sensible in this context.
That makes sense, and would not bother me to keep it for that in an area, but I ask you, would it not be better to just set the time there and leave it, and never change it?
My buddy had one of these as his daily commuter in LA for 6+ years. He bought it in the mid 20ks sold it at 93k miles for the simple reason that he needed more torque and braking for safety. It was slow AF, comfortable, slightly bent frame, and reliable as a Toyota Corolla. Great machine.
If I didn't have such a long commute I'd happily use it daily. I'm just a little big for it. He may have just needed some serious tlc tbh, it's not slow at all, it's also not fast but 0-60 in 5ish seconds isn't something to be sniffed at. The brakes.......yeah.....even rebuilt they're a single caliper, single disc setup on a heavy bike. I get that one!

A 83 Honda GW standard and a 09 HD Heritage Classic both very good riding and running machines and yes I enjoy doing maintenance and repairs just not puling tires off wheels. I've owned way too many bikes in a short amount of time.3&4 at a time till now I'm a recovering bikahaulic lol Thanks for sharing

I am with you! About 15 years ago a woman I worked with took her Yamaha Virago750 to the stealership to get a quote to have the carburetors cleaned, they quoted her over $2000.00! Many of the stealerships now will not even touch carbureted bikes. I have always done my own mechanical work and get enjoyment out of it, and it saves me money as well. I just love the sound of that engine when it is on song.....🤗 Can we really see a future when things are repairable? As we add more technology, more designs to fit legislation, will it be possible? If the world was a sensible place the legislation would be forcing manufacturers to make everything repairable rather than just making material recyclable. Wasn't the idea of daylight savings so kids in the UK didn't have to go to school in the dark? All irrelevant here because there is very little difference in day length, and the kids are all at school by 7:00 a.m. Another good video of interesting thoughts and boring roads. Thank you. 👍
It really does sound great, hard to beat 4 across carbs tho in any case :D Especially when they're actually balanced and happy! I can, I think it'll all come full circle. I hope I'm not being overly optimistic but I see a lot of startups now going for repairable design as I think a lot of people are really getting fed up of overcomplicated junk that needs to be replaced every 3-5 years. It used to be that the mark of a company was the quality of their product, now it's how flashy they are. That was the original intent of DST to the best of my knowledge also, and I think it's dumb to keep it now. We have lights. Thanks amigo :)
That Honda is growing on me! I do try to do everything myself, sometimes I overthink the work involved. I think my wife's MT-07 fork seals have popped, so I will be following your video when doing them. As its not something I have done before. I hate the fact that Suzuki won't let me work on the bike do my own servicing etc, just because it's in warranty

All these bikes are the way a bike should look like. Kawasaki also very good at it too with the zeds. Or ... Its just me , an old fart who admired these greatly when they were new😅
Hahaha I don't think it's being an old fart tbh, the UJM style made sense at it's conception and still does because it was made as a sort of "do it all" bike that was accessible to work on also, the shaoe and style just make sense, nothing is particularly hard to get to, nothing is buried in a mad cradle frame, and the engines are generally kept fairly simple. I think every manufacturer should make at least 1 simple UJM.
Wow. I could write a book here. After owning up to 4 bikes in the past, I'm now retired and only have my 92 Honda 750 Nighthawk. If I had to take it to the Honda dealer for everything, I couldn't afford to ride. I do all work on it, including tires. Parts prices alone are bad enough. This is probably the bike I'll keep till I can't ride anymore. Sadly, Ive lost 3 independent shops around here, and a couple Honda dealers. Sorry, buy my bikes used now and can't afford to keep you in business with service calls. I have a free oil change coming for my new Chevy. I'm afraid to go there because they may screw something up. No faith in the quality of techs available today.

I was a GM dealer tech back in the early 90s. Got laid off, don't miss it. Getting your flat rate for a decent pay check every week was hard. Better to get paid by the hour. I'm VERY scared if there's a warranty Problem at all with my Chevy.
Yeah I work a salaried job and it's nice but the impossibility of ever earning more aside from a yearly(maybe) 3% raise is not ideal. Well, at least if it's warrantied they'll have to keep fixing it, doesn't help you if you're out a car of course.
Got my first service due on my FZ8 (2010). To keep the lifetime warranty in tact I have to have a service by them. They’ve quoted £530 for air filter, spark plugs and throttle body balancing. For balance I asked for a quote from an extremely reputable local garage and I explained what the dealer said they will do and I was quote £250!
Can you not do the servicing yourself and keep the receipts? That's a huge difference, and dealers wonder why they can't keep business coming in. I know they have overheads and wages etc, and I'm happy to pay a fair price so people can live good lives, but there are limits!

I'm surprised, most warranties have an allowance for people to do their own work once receipts are kept of parts etc. Naaaah of course not, if they lock you in you know they're going to charge what they can!
I could be wrong, but I think you like DST and dislike standard time. Setting the clocks back one hour in the fall puts us back in standard time. I'm only mentioning it because it's a common mistake that I feel really skews the statistics regarding a preference for DST v ST. The majority of us regular folks probably prefer DST. On to the content...I LOVE your channel. I have a black '97 Nighthawk 750 and your videos have really helped get into the DIY side of bike ownership. Lastly, I'm pretty envious that your tach works and...what fairing is that? Thanks for all you do.
Not even that! Would I rather we stayed with DST if we stopped moving clocks? Probably. But I just hate the whole moving clocks thing in the first place, it's so so stupid imo. I do enjoy these vloggy vlogs, but get this time of year it is harder to make them. Although I generally get my bikes serviced at main dealers, I think we should be able to at least once the warranty has expired service them ourselves and reset warnings etc. I do wish new bikes were simple, but still cool new and shiny... I wish the powers that be who decided we all "need" all the tech on all bikes would just go away and leave us alone, we only have a decade left of new ICE engines supposedly, so let us have real bikes, not bubble-wrapped PC's on wheels

Yep, and I honestly like how they do a lot of warranties over here, you can do the work yourself once you keep receipts. That's very sensible. I agree, or at the very least have both, have your fancy AI bikes(we'll get there soon I'm sure) but have bikes alongside them that have the absolute minimum for people who just want a fun cheap option without having to buy something 20 years old.

I just want a button to turn it all off and have it stay off unless I decide to switch it back on again. I may have fallen off lots of bikes in my time, but I have also survived and learnt (mostly) from each off 😀

Good as a minder I suppose but I'd rather have the brake feel and how easy it is to service

Also on cars - look at the W123 diesels. They are simple, comfortable, and fun to drive. You have some great classic shops in the SE as well.
I would imagine his carbs were in dire need of a service and balance :) Ah sure look once it worked for him that's all that matters eh :)
